Been going to this place for a while, the sandwiches are good but the girl that works at the register is extremely rude. last time I was there she accused me of trying to give her a fake $ 10 Bill, this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in a long time. Flat out refused to take it and said I had to use my debit card if I wanted to purchase my food. Their boss should educate them that not all bills have to look brand new.

Take a look at the picture and tell me where the meat in this sandwich is… pathetic for an a actual deli!

I have had about ten sandwiches since I discovered this place, and I absolutely love them! I would’ve given five stars except I think they are slipping a bit. Their sourdough rolls are what make the sandwich obviously, but the last few times here they have been a little stale and that tends to shred my mouth. The tomatoe could’ve been more fresh also. However,“I’ll be back” still a great sangwich

I never thought this place would be so good. To start with the bread was fabulous. I had a turkey sandwich and it was as good as a sandwich gets. A neighbor hood gem

Doesn’t look like much, but they make a very solid turkey sandwich on sourdough. Sometimes the workers might seem rude, but honestly, if you’re nice to them they are nice to you. They seem to deal with a lot of homeless and transient bs on that corner so that might explain the mood they are in. Doesn’t effect their sandwich making ability, though… always fresh and delicious.

Refused to fill a water bottle(w/tap water) during water shutdown emergency 7⁄14 on Lincoln Ave(they had the tap running). Profiteering *****s, a shame to have in the neighborhood.

The sandwiches are great… however, the lady behind the counter making them has the worst attitude. The first time I came in she just looked at me with these dead eyes and acted as if I was such a bother to ask her to make sandwich. I figured maybe she was having a bad day. The sandwich I ordered was great. The second time I came in she was working again and refused to turn around and stop slicing tomatoes to assist us. Finally, I asked her for help and she took a big sigh and said«ok» as if she really meant to say, «what the F do you want!» I asked her what kind of chicken is on the bbq chicken sandwich. Her rude response was«BBQ Chicken.» I asked if it was white or dark meat and then again she just stood there staring at me with zombie eyes and no response. After that, I asked if I could just see the chicken. Then she huffed and went to show me. Finally, I said just forget it. Even though the sandwiches are great, dealing with the rudeness and feeling that I am a complete bother is not worth it. The cashier is always nice an the sandwiches are great… however, I just can’t deal with the lady behind the counter. I would rather spend my money in a business that provides better customer service.

The convenient store is quick and easy and usually has whatever i might need. The sandwiches are also really good! They are also at an affordable price. Also, the people who work here are nice people, and they are friendly!

This is really the only place around this area of Lincoln to grab food or snacks, so they jack up the prices accordingly. While some of the staff are friendly, others(one I refer to only as The Mean Zombie), looked at me with an empty stare and a bit of disdain when I asked where they kept their ramen… and then said she had no idea what that was. You run a liquor store and you’re unfamiliar with ramen??? Regardless, their sandwiches are pretty good. Nothing fancy, but solid ingredients. I especially like their salami sandwich with provolone. Overall, they have a bit of a monopoly so they can get away with a bit of ridiculousness…

My good friend lives 2 blocks from here so I’ve been coming here for years. Whenever we’re too lazy to schlep downtown or too cheap to order sol food, we stroll down to the deli. Totally good sandwiches(especially considering it’s a convenience store) and the lady who makes the sandwiches and the cashier are both really nice. The sourdough rolls really make the sandwich. I agree, the turkey/provolone is where it’s at(plus avocado for me). If the mood strikes, I also recommend the salami and cheddar. Stuff some potato chips in that baby for crunch and you got yourself a stew.

I order a chicken salad and instead get tuna. So I call the deli and ask if they could replace it they say yes. I go jn there and the lady who makes it tries to prove I’m wrong when I knew I had tuna. So I left empty handed! Horrible horrible costumer service. Not going back!

Pretty decent selection for a market. They make really yummy breakfast sandwiches to boot! I keep missing the tamales, but I smell them often. Nice folks who work there to top it off.

I’m a huge fan of the sandwiches and awesome selection of random food and beverages. I second the other Unilocaler who suggested the smoked turkey with provolone. The sourdough bread is the best! Minus one star because it’s not always the cleanest place in the world. Of course, it is a convenience store though. Remember — don’t confuse this with the Novato one! Totally different.

Do yourself a favor… take the Lincoln off-ramp on US101 S/B prior to Central San Rafael exit… head towards downtown SR and watch on the left hand side for Famous Deli on the corner… Order a smoked turkey with provolone on the sourdough roll(they bake the rolls FRESH on the premise!!!). Frickin awesome sandwich!!! Sweet mayo, shredded lettuce, tomato, thin slice pickles, purple onion, avocado… all on that FRESH long sourdough stick… mmmm, had one yesterday and the other half today!!!(Course, you can customize it to your liking!) If I had the choice between Togo’s, Subway or Quizno’s, it would be here! It’s basically a corner market/liquor convenience store with the deli section, limited(4 or 5 spots?) seating. They have been remodeling and I noticed the sandwich prices went up to just over $ 6…they also now offer a meal-deal with chips and a fountain drink. Sure the owner/guys(?) who work there are not all that friendly or talkative, but the gal making the sandwiches is super nice. Parking now sucks with all the freeway construction going on in the area… Not to be confused with the Famous Deli in NOVATO, they don’t have the same sandwiches there(but got donuts and cookies the size of dinner plates).

Five stars for a sandwich? Yes. Sandwiches are a serious matter and the ones they serve in this odd little joint are superb. Get the sourdough roll.

This is easily the most ghetto little deli in Novato, but the sandwiches are incredible. If you guess the price of your custom monster sandwich they give you the biggest damn cookie I’ve ever seen – free! It is al lado de la taqueria and they share the same nasty little parking lot. Do NOT make a special trip to go here, but if you are fillin up at the Shell station you might just as well swing in for a great sandwich.

I find it really hard to believe that Famous Deli has never been reviewed. It was the subject of articles several years ago for the caliber of their chicken salad sandwiches. They are delicious. Next time you need some Trojans and Doritos in San Rafael, do yourself a favor, duck in here and add a Chicken Salad on the house roll to your shopping list.
