I appreciate and value the expertise of the staff including Harry and Leonard. I have asked about racquet selection, stiffness, grip size, string type, tension, playing skill level etc. and have been consistently provided with detailed answers that are helpful and relevant. Whereas box retailers and online vendors offer generic service, the staff at Tennis Nation has always been very attentive. We have purchased a significant amount of merchandise — once they had inadvertently overcharged us for a single item and quickly and courteously refunded the difference without bickering. They match the major online prices while providing excellent support. On one occasion, a young woman assisted me with questions — I thought based upon her apparent age that she would refer me to a more experienced sales person. She was as knowledgeable as the other staff and was very informative. Their demo program is highly recommended.
Yes, the store is not the neatest, most dazzling visual display. However, we shop at Tennis Nation for the expertise, service, and shared interest of the staff in the game of Tennis, not for glitz and glamor (although the busted celebrity racquets adorning the walls are appreicated and fun to see).
Finally, a big thank you to Leonard who loves to discuss and educate us about the finer points of tennis!

These guys are great. I heard about their rep from friends and decided to check them out when looking for a new racket. I live in Sonoma county so I had to drive to see them and find out what I needed.
I got great advise and found the racket I wanted then in a move that I wouldn’t have done I asked if I could get it strung in the same day. Two hours later I came back to my racket ready to go! Thats great service! A lot of places would have made me come back and make the drive. All Good!

This is the best tennis store in Marin. The folks working here are always courteous and very knowledgable about the goods they sell, and about tennis!!!
Their prices are also very competitive, and they match internet prices too. I’m so glad to have this store in Marin.

I went into Brad Gilbert Tennis Nation on Sunday to upgrade my racquet. The girl in the store was super knowledgeable — asking me questions about my game and recommended a few choices as well as what to sting it with. I went back the following morning — picked up my new racquet as well as bought some shoes. I’ve always been a white sneaker girl — but decided to step it up and bought a pair of red asics! They have a great color selection and everyone is so friendly and knows their stuff. Overall an excellent experience — I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

A tennis shop you would think as nice and classy store. Poorly lit, overly crowded looking, but mostly bad lighting.
I was completely caught off guard.
I like Brad Gilbert and like his ESPN tennis commentaries, but boy, this store in Marin County must be: a: relocated and b: redecorated .
Lastly: There are brands besides Nike. You could carry Adidas too.
Let the consumer decide — like an Open competition.

I’ve been a customer of BGTN since I (re) started playing tennis in 2012 (after 30 years). These guys are wonderful! Great, CURRENT selection with lots of options (esp. for a small store), fast service (I once called at 3:30 and had a new racket strung and ready at 4:15 on a Saturday), and friendly, knowledgable staff. They will meet or beat any online price. I just picked up a new 2015 Babolat Pure Drive Tour and am looking forward to hitting. I don’t agree with some of the reviews that say that «the prices are a bit steep». Sure, they have inventory that they need to cover costs on (and so can’t have the «blowout sales «that online, non-​stocking retailers can), but I have found them always willing to deal on stock that is not cutting-​edge. ALSO — the demo program is great. The only thing I would warn you about (and this may be just me), but it’s really hard to get a sense of an exact frame/​string combination with the demo program. (I string my rackets with VERY STIFF strings — and once played with a demo Pure Drive with soft strings… I wondered if maybe it was broken ;-) Still, if you’re trying to get a general feel, try the demo program. Hope this helps.

Stopped into the shop yesterday and had an altogether great experience. Leonard was awesome. He helped us pick out the perfect racquet for our daughter who’s relatively new to the sport, and he spent a ton of time helping her find the right grip size. All the while he was busy stringing rackets and helping other clients. Impressive multitasking. Love this shop. Free parking in the back is really helpful. We’ll be back.

If you play tennis in Marin, this is a store for you! They have a great selection of shoes, rackets, clothes and accessories. Prices are a bit steep — definitely not for bargains shoppers but you definitely get what you pay for here! Staff are always friendly and helpful, never pushy (which I really appreciate).

Very bad service. The racket broke 2 min after having restrung: $ 43. They did not recognize their mistake. Avoid to go there.

Excellent little tennis shop. They have all high end equipment to meet your needs and great deals on past season model tennis shoes. Picked up a pair of past season shoes for $ 60. Cheapest I could find anywhere online was $ 90… Great customer service. Highly recommend for those serious about tennis. If you need a string job and you bring your own string, the cost is only $ 20. Plus, they have some great memorabilia hanging on the wall, including the racquet used by Agassi in the 1999 US Open finals. Also, some great high end kids wear is available.

Thank you Leonard ! Such helpful tips in store for someone who loves tennis. This is a great store no doubt, but why I like to be a repeat customer is because the staff are knowledgable, enthusiastic and efficient. Christmas shopping doesn’t get better !

Hadn’t played tennis in twenty or so years, took a lesson in Tahoe and realized how much I had missed playing!
Brad Gilbert Tennis Nation has a great demo program, and believe me, I demo’d a LOT of racquets. Each time I went in to exchange they listened, and narrowed my choices down and I now have the perfect racquet. Pat and Harry are knowledgable and helpful. Met Brad one Saturday when we went in — again, super nice and helpful.
I am willing to pay for great service, but the best part is that I found their prices to be comparable to those online (checked AFTER purchasing as I think that people who take time and knowledge from their local shop then go buy online are LAME)
Bought my shoes here, balls, and will continue to go here for any of my tennis needs. Thanks guys!

The people at Gilbert Nation have been very helpful, and the demo program for racquet selection is great. My daughter has really been able to take her time in selecting a racquet that enhances her game, and that she will be able to stay with as she grows as a player.
