This company is an absolute joke. I am a restaurant manager and heard about these age verification scanners on Bar Rescue. I found this company on line and spoke to the 2 owners, Corrine and Mark several times in November 2013 and purchased an 875.00 scanner over the phone using a Discover card. I was told by Mark that there was a 30 day return policy and waited for its arrival. The machine came very quickly but when I opened the box I was very disappointed. I asked for a black portable scanner. They sent me a bright yellow one with an awful black plastic cover for it. The cover didn’t fit right and covered the 2 most important buttons a bouncer will need as he uses the scanner. The machine was heavy and bulky and the battery pack didn’t work. Frankly, it looked like a used machine that was put back together poorly. I then tried using the machine by practicing with a few fake id’s that I had confiscated earlier. The scanner could not detect either of the fake id’s I put through. I immediately called Mark with my concerns and he told me he would send me another battery pack and that some of the Id’s that came in from China will get through but as long as I’m doing my ‘due diligence” that I would be covering myself. Really really Mark!!! Why do I need an 875 machine to do my due diligence? I decided to send the machine back and quickly packaged it up in the original box with all the crappy components they sent me, and included a nice letter requesting that they credit my Discover card. I spoke to both Mark and Corrine that week who said it would be done by the end of the week. Here it is… 5 months later… no credit!!! I have called them countless times, left countless messages. What kind of reputable business wouldn’t at least return your call to try to make things right. I will take every avenue possible to make sure no one else gets scammed by this so called company! If I was able to give zero stars, I would have!

I had a negative experience with TriCom Card Technologies. The software they sell for $ 395 doesn’t give you many more options than a basic spreadsheet. In other words, their software is a scam! Their ID readers are very costly, but can’t read Driver Licenses from most of US states. And even if it reads your state, why would you want to use a reader? Sending promotions by mail is getting more and more expensive, while email will always be free. After spending over $ 2000 on their readers and software, I realized that I had no more use for their products anymore. I called Tri Com and spoke to owner named Mark. He said that I’m stuck with their software, but If I return one of the readers and it will be in good condition, he will give me $ 400 for it, After they received it, his wife called me back and started making up different reasons, trying to negotiate the price down by $ 20. This was very uncomfortable, as I already made a deal with Mark, and we agreed on a set price. When I emailed Mark to ask him to keep his end of the bargain, he agreed to pay me full $ 400, but asked to wait and allow them to sell the unit first, even though we originally agreed on pay right away. TriCom Card Technologies didn’t seem honest and professional. I felt like I was at a Gypsy Market, where the salesperson main objective is to fight for every penny. Last time I had so much nickeling and dimming experience was when I was dealing with teenagers running a business from their parents’ house. And the fact that they finally agreed to give me $ 400 as promised, but asked to wait until they sell it first, shows what kind of financial condition this company is in. Expect a bankruptcy any time now.
