Great food– freshly made. Proof: hang out and you’ll see all the locals stop in for lunch/dinner. If you don’t have time to wait– call in your order for pickup– worth it! Fresh guac is worth the wait too. I eat there a couple times a week when in San Miguel for work. Favorite: chili verde burrito without rice.(Warning: the large burrito is LARGE)

When I worked in San Miguel I always took an early lunch to pick up a fresh chorizo burrito. It is incredibly tasty especially when you get it with the works(cheese, cilantro, sour cream, onions etc). The prices are really reasonable and when they have pan dulce out you must try one of the Mexican cheese cake pastries. Not like the cheesecake you’re used to, less sweet and more like bread/cake but very very good. If you’re passing through it is certainly worth the short trip off the freeway.

I didn’t see much in the way of pastries… which makes sense as the new name of the place is Dos Hermanos I think. They’ve also applied for a liquor license so perhaps they’re trying to turn this into a later day stop instead of a bakery joint. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was the best I’ve ever experienced. It was moist and chock full of goodies. The lady behind the counter was really sweet and the coffee was definitely decent(and they had the vanilla creamer stuff that I love :) I wish there were more places like this near my house. Also, they have a fairly clean bathroom so perhaps forgo the gas station one and go here.

Unbelievably YUMMY! My friends and I were loaded in my little car and headed to SLO to visit another friend. Randomly, we exited for a stretch/water break and wandered across the street to the San Miguel Bakery for a coffee, maybe a snack. We ended up with bags of amazing pastries that we enjoyed during our weekend in SLO. We also made a deal that we would stop for some food on the way home because everything looked so great. Oh and it was! We had amazing tacos, breakfast burritos, more pastries, and all of it was delicious. To top it off the people there were super friendly and helpful. What a perfect place! Build this stop into your trip – it is soooo worth it!

my vacation in frisco has come to an end… im driving down the 101 and right im starting to get really crabby i want food im tired and i want home… it takes a small vaca to make you miss home, and guess what i was in tears when i hit my door step. anyways… back to being hungry, im stopping in san miguel for gas, and right across the street from the chevron is a bakery… so im think.“mmm. OJ, some croissants and more coffee…” Naw i get none of the above. instead i get AJ, some breakfast burritos and a bottle of water. GREAT Mexican food — from their breakfast burritos to the carne asada tacos. I have yet to find one of their pastries, or other deserts that I didn’t like. The prices are VERY reasonable, and the staff is quite friendly.

While driving south on 101 from san jose, we needed gas and pulled off 10th street exit in san miguel. Across the gas station is an inconspicuous eatery called San Miguel Bakery. We walked in thinking about pizza, but the menu also has cheese burger and burritoes. We got them to go, and we were surprised when we opened the styroform box, the burger is as huge as the box itself, say, at leach 10 inches in diameter. Both the burger and the bun and the burritoes were so delicious, like none i ever had experienced in san jose! We will drive back one day to try the bakery cake etc.

When you’re driving down the 101 and it’s way too early to even think(you know about how you woke up at 3:30am because your friend convinced you it’d be fun to go wine tasting in Santa Barbara when you were partying it up all in night in San Francisco) stop by this friendly bakery. The staff working there are incredibly nice and their breakfast burritos will have you awake and back on the road in no time. Tons of yummy pastries too, and in the short time we were there it got quite busy while it was still early, so it must be a local favorite.
