Beefeater sandwich lukewarm, ketchup taste like ketchup, bread underwhelming.

A little hole in the wall 15 min walk from convention center. Sandwich was very good. I had the Tuscany.

This place is CLOSED. Out of business. Oh well, they sucked anyway. When you cook with microwaves, you’re not going to last very long.

Came here for breakfast since it’s close to the hotel we are staying at, Adaz. Was a bit disappointed there wasn’t much of a display but the staff answered our questions promptly. BOM is a very straightforward bakery. Nothing fancy, paper cups, plastic silverware. Just a place for locals to grab a coffee and a pastry on the go. We ordered some coffee and a cappuccino, francesse bread with butter and jelly, and a breakfast sandwich with egg, provolone and ham. The francesse bread was pretty tasty. I liked the elements of the sandwich but I think a flatter bread would have been a better choice since the roll was doughy. The cappuccino was pretty good even If served in a paper cup. Overall a decent experience but one that I won’t remember in a few weeks.

I wanted to eat somewhere near Wet Willie’s — something light, new, and cozy. Bread On Market answered my prayers! It’s situated in between a shoe/clothing store and near a parking lot which makes it a little difficult to spot. This little place is also pretty small… maybe around 5 – 6 tables? But don’t let the size of this place fool you! My friend and I split a Chicken Caesar(Club) Sandwich and the Field Green Salad. Everything was perfect! The chicken in the sandwich was mixed gracefully with the right amount of ingredients, not too light but not too heavy. The salad was also amazing! Usually when I order salads, it’s heavily drenched in sauce/dressing… making me rather just consuming just dressing. To my surprise, everything was made fresh and to my taste! p. s. The people who work here are also very friendly and welcoming! I will definitely come back here whenever I’m around Market!

Not a bad little sandwich/breakfast joint. However, they get 2 stars instead of 3 for 1 big reason, slow slow slow service. I’ve been here 3 times and each time I’ve had to wait close to 10 mins for them to take my order. The kitchen is set up in the back of the store so they have no idea if anyone is waiting at the counter or not. Not very smart design. They should put in a bell or something to let the staff know there’s someone waiting. Or hire a full time cashier. The«fresh» bread is not really fresh at all, I picked up a french baguette at 11:30am and it was hard as a rock even after the guy told me it was baked fresh daily. The breakfast wraps are decent I give it a 3.5 out of 5 sporks. Price is a bit expensive for the amount of food you get. I really wanted to like this place but the service just kills it for me.

Good location and the caesar sandwich was very tasty, but the service was SLOW and not at all friendly. We were one of two tables in the restaurant and it took 25 minutes to get two sandwiches. Come on! Plus, they have a frequent diner card(buy 5 sandwiches, get 1 free), but you only get one punch even if you buy two sandwiches. They seemed very irritated to be bother with it at all. And, I know it wasn’t just me that found it weird because a woman after me ordered and asked the same exact thing. Even though I only live a couple blocks away, I doubt I will be returning. Guess it doesn’t matter that I only got one punch after all.

What I liked about this place was that it was a nice walk from the convention center. I always try to get out away from the hotels and get someplace local. That being said the crew weren’t the most friendly and the breakfast sandwich was just ok. Nothing to go back for.

This place is very sub-par at best. My gf and I had some groupons for the place so we drove in to downtown to try it out. It takes something a little special to make it worth a trip to downtown and fight for parking, and our experience didn’t qualify as special in any way. We unfortunately had two groupons so after the first failure by Bread we forced ourselves to show up a second time to not get totally ripped off. Our first visit was at about 3:30 in the afternoon and we were not exactly greeted by a very grumpy employee. I tend to give grumpy employees the benefit of the doubt as I have worked in restaurants myself and know how a long day of customer service can take its toll but this guy never turned it around. He barely even made eye contact with us and almost everything we were excited to order was out of stock. At a place called BREAD on Market there was very little of the carb-loaded goodness I was hoping for. In fact, there was wheat, and nothing more. The place closes at 5pm so an hour and a half before closing they should still have some choice left. We ordered a couple of veggie sandwiches that were brought out to us by a much friendlier employee but even with our very limited choice of the menu even the one thing we actually wanted was missing the arugula it was supposed to have. Now with all that said, even if everything was perfect, the price for a veggie sandwich is still $ 9. That’s $ 9 for two slices of bread, some lettuce, tomato, olives, and cheese. Not worth the price, attitude, or time.

4 Stars I had their Club Sandwich + Tomato Soup(Half & Half Combo). The bread wasn’t toasted(I usually like mine toasted), but it was really good: d(If I remember correctly it was close to $ 8). Their jalapeño bread was good as well. Really good that I would come back to try out some more!

This is probably one of the best sandwich shops on San Diego! Everything is always very fresh and homemade tasting. My favorite sandwiches are the club, the turkey special with cranberry, the turkey pesto, and the ham and swiss. All the sandwiches are served on super fresh bread that is baked daily. The breakfast sandwiches are also very good, as well as the coffee and pastries. If you enjoy really fresh ingredients, I recommend you come here! San Diego definitely needs more places like this. Also, look out for coupons in the Downtown Magazine.

I had two groupons for Bread On Market which I have managed to use in the past week. The first I used when I went by to grab a couple of sandwiches to take to the Padres game. I ordered the grilled Turkey Club(turkey, bacon, avocado) which was really good & filling. And the Turkey Pepperjack(turkey, onion, pepperjack) which was also really good. Liked the fact that they didn’t skimp on ingredients & it was served on grilled sliced fresh bread(which they make every day). The groupon was also for a loaf of bread in addition to the two sandwiches so I took home an olive loaf. That olive loaf didn’t stand a chance… it was gone in less than 24 hours! It was really good bread, but I think it could have used more olives. Service was fast & friendly. I think it was the owner at the counter that day. So after this experience, I couldn’t wait to use my Groupon #2. So this past weekend, the BF had a craving for a sandwich. So we headed to Bread on Market. This time we ordered the Tuscany(fresh mozzarella, roasted red & yellow peppers, kalamata olives, red onion, tomato, arugula served on their francese hard roll, drizzled with a vinaigrette dressing). This sandwich was really good! I love cheese and the fresh mozzarella was delicious! I ate the whole sandwich knowing I should have stopped ¾ of the way. The Roast Beef(thinly sliced roast beef, provolone, tomato, lettuce, sweet mustard, horseradish aioli on their focaccia bread) was enjoyed by another person in our group. The BF ordered the Turkey Pepperjack after I told him how good it was. Well, he was disappointed, because they skimped on the ingredients this time! Service this time was also not as great. They forgot to give me my loaf of bread! I do like that they have dog friendly, although limited(2 tables), outside. They even have complimentary dog treats, which my little one gobbled up with a smile.

Thanks to Groupon, for pointing me in the direction of another awesome little business. (For those who don’t know, sign up on Groupon, after all, it is FREE) I got a Groupon for $ 16 worth of food and loaf of fresh bread of my choice. On the way to Disneyland, I thought this would be a perfect eat in the car meal. I ordered the tuna melt, and my boyfriend got the egg salad sandwich. Both were well worth the $ 8 price we paid, they were packed with flavor.(Something that the $ 5 footlong lacks.) We got to pick a free loaf of any baked bread on the rack, and I had my eye on a large rosemary focaccia. They sliced it for us and we were on our way… Making toast in the morning with this bread is like tasting a bit of Heaven. I will be back for more delicious fresh baked breads and sandwiches when I am in the area.

Sandwiches are the best, they are made with Artisan bread which is made daily on site. I got 2 grilled sandwiches which were grilled in a panini press… Wow! Who knew that smashing crusty bread between two grill plates made such a difference! I felt like i had walked into a sandwich shop in Europe. Fresh, quality ingredients that speak for themselves. You don’t always need to have a huge sandwich filled with meats and veggies to make it good. Sometimes less is more. Bacon Caesar was delish. thick cut smokey bacon, fresh mozzarella(?) cheese, fresh bread pressed in the panini grill. WOW! and cause i used the groupon i got a free loaf of jalapeño cheese bread… they offered to slice it for me which was nice. It was so good i finished the whole loaf in 3 days by myself!(half the loaf was gone the first day!) So good! im seriously considering getting a panini press now.

A few months ago I stopped in this place to see if they would change a dollar so I could park nearby, The cashier politely obliged, and I vowed to someday make it back in for lunch. I should have made it back in sooner than I had. It’s pretty delish! The name isn’t sexy and if you sneeze while walking by you’ll probably miss it, but this place is definitely a hidden gem of a sandwich shop in the East Village. Besides maybe one or two other places, downtown totally lacks a good spot to grab a quick bite of lunchmeat between bread. I went with the club and added a cup of tomato basil soup. For under $ 10 this lunch spot provided more than what I expected a place by the name of Bread to provide. The club was equipt with avocado, choice meat and tender bacon on fluffy, multi-grain, sliced bread. The only downfall is that it closes pretty early. My horrible eating habits seldom have me start my days eating before they close at 5pm so I’m not sure how often I’ll be able to indulge in this treat, but they do stay open later when there’s a Padre game. Note to self for next pre-Pad squad meal: Go to Bread, purchase sandwich, eat it, and attend game satisfied for a modest price.

The cinnamon rolls are incredible, bomb, delicious, om nom nom and so forth if you can score them when fresh and still warm from the oven. I was able to smell the cinnamon from outside the door and instantly knew what I wanted to order. I drove home and thoroughly enjoyed the still warm pastries. The baguette wasn’t bad either.

I try to be healthy and this place has some great options. I had the vegan roll twice while I was in SD on conference. It was very tasty and fresh. Funny story is that I actually picked up the wrong sandwich when I got take away the first time. I bit into it 3 times before realizing it was actually turkey and cheese. I was already half a block away and the sandwich was delicious so I debated over whether to go back at all. I turned my head and found that the guy from the store was already running in my direction with my original order. He told me to keep both orders and wished me a good day. I gave one sandwich to a homeless person on Market. And we all lived happily ever after.

I came here around 9ish the other day. A friend and I decided to go for a hike and I though a sandwich would be the perfect end. It’s a small place but they had a few people inside. Their menu is written on a chalk board which can make it difficult to read the small print. 3 people ahead of me had already placed their orders, they directed that I press the bell to get help. DING! A few moments later a gentlemen approches me and takes my order. The wait here is pretty long… for a sandwich?! Really? I thought it was the amount of people ahead of me but they had mentioned they had also been waiting a while before I had arrived. I got the Club minus the tomato to go. It had turkey, bacon, lettuce, mayo, and avocado. Not sure what kind of bread they used but it stuck to the paper it was wrapped in. The sandwich was fresh and a good way to end the hike. I know they also serve breakfast. Their breakfast burrito looked good so I’m gonna have to stop by on a weekend.

Awesome Sandwiches full of flavor. I had the pleasure of eating one on the top of Cowls mountain. The owner was kind enough to donate 20 of these delicious ½ sandwiches to our Unilocal hiking group, they were delivered to the bottom of the mountain early on a Sunday morning. I had the turkey avocado and that ½ sandwich really hit the spot. My boy had the roast beef and almost finished it so its a good size. Next time I am in the area I will stop in and personally thank him :)

I’m fortunate enough to live within walking distance so parking isn’t an issue for me. The bread is great. When I was there they were talking to a wholesale customer so I also got to sample all kinds of their breads, and each was equally great – chewy, fragrant, crusty, flavorful but not break your teeth rock hard(which I also like BTW). They are owners/operators and it shows. The woman is super sweet and cheery and the guy used to be a pastry chef. I got 2 of the veggie sandwiches and they were super yummy. The sandwiches were a bit spendy at $ 8.25 but worth it. ½ a sandwich fills you up. Yes, Influx’s sandwiches are $ 2 cheaper, and also very good. But the Bread on Market sandwich is bigger and the bread is seriously over the top better, so dollar for dollar, I’ll still take the Bread on Market sandwich due to the outstandingly incredible perfect bread. One suggestion, however, is that since the bread is so fantastic, I think they should slice it twice as thick for the sandwiches like this little place in Half Moon Bay(Bay Area) does it. People would feel like they’re getting a better deal.
