I guess it was an off day with the staff behind the counter, because the staff was not offering good customer service. I was there on a Sunday about a week ago. I ordered two sandwiches, one small black ice tea(unsweetened) and a brownie. None of it was for take-out. The cashier must of been in training, because she did not understand a thing that I ordered. Another staff member had to show her where the items were on the cash register. I had to repeat the order a few times. I kept repeating that the order was for here. My sandwich was ready. I was handed the sandwich in a bag. I told the woman preparing the drinks that I was going to eat the sandwich here and not take it with me, The woman looked at me like I was crazy. Another person said he would get me a plate. I asked about my second sandwich and showed the receipt to the cashier. A man said he would take care of it. I finally got the sandwich and was happy. I just don’t understand why there has to be poor customer service. Are these employees not properly trained? What is the deal about asking for a plate? Does Starbucks not allow the use of plastic plates for customers to request when they eat inside the café? The poor customer service is not acceptable. I want to hear from the manager!

This location had incredibly friendly baristas. Almost as fantastic as my regular Mountain View location… almost. My drink came out quickly, perfectly, and they had enough seating to grab a spot for a moment while I waited. It seemed to be a the place to be on a Saturday afternoon so I wish they’d had a bit more seating since they seem to get a lot of pop-a-squatters, but we were able to find easy peezy parking at the Safeway and walk on over at our leisure without much of a line or a rush like some locations get on Saturdays. Definitely beware of the police officer that patrols the parking lot giving out tickets, apparently that’s his favorite place to hang out!

Good old reliable Starbucks. I usually stop by after my weekly visit to Santa Ramen, which is just down the street. As a Gold member, I tend to stick to coffees or teas, and then have multiple cups, since the refills are free. I have 2 – 3 cups here, then get one last refill which I then take home, to enjoy for a few more hours. It’s the only way I can justify $ 5 in my head!

Good Old Faithful starbucks. If it wasn’t for convenience i’m sure i wouldnt frequent here much. Since i’m an early bird i need a fix sometimes rather it’s coffee or tea. Number one complaint is parking here sucks they have a side lot but the entrance is on the back end. They also have street parking or you can park at safeway. Oh and if you choose to walk be careful crossing El Camino! When you finally make it inside be prepared to wait this location gets crowded. So far i haven’t had many issues with orders getting wrong but i have had my share. Once you get your drink good luck finding seating. You have some folks that will sit down all day and only order one drink. So normally I just grab and go. If you’re really cool use the app and do a preorder and you just grab you drink from the counter. Good luck if you have to visit here and definitely do not come if you’re in a rush.

I will never go to this Starbucks location again. While I’m standing in line to order my drink the cashier look at a person who just jumps in front of me and take his order. Maybe he really needed his coffee fix. After I ordered I stood waiting for my drink for more than 9minutes. Thinking the other customers was there before me, when there was nobody else waiting for drinks I went up to them and said where’s my drink? They tried to say someone else took my drink. Don’t lie to customers. I was standing right there waiting for my name to be called out. They were calling other people’s names but not my name. Just because a person doesn’t go to this location often, don’t treat them lesser. SMH. You guys should really teach your employees customer service.

this starbucks location is convenient to my dr’s office in san mateo, so i stopped by after to pick up a quick breakfast sammie. located on a busy corner, i was very grateful that they had a dedicated parking lot in addition to street parking. the lot isn’t that big though, so i was happy to have scored a space, while i ducked in for a few minutes to pick up my sammie(pre-ordered on the starbucks iphone app). since it took me just a few extra minutes to get here during morning rush hour, my turkey bacon egg sammie had cooled to a temperature where i could actually eat it without burning my tongue! a quick turn out of the parking lot and a quarter mile south on el camino real, and i’m on the 92 freeway, headed to 101. super convenient location, and since parking is so easy, and free, i will likely come back when i’m in the area.

Maybe it was an off day for the staff and maybe I am more accustom the the exceptional service we consistently receive at the Starbucks 3790 El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA but honestly, between the terrible terrible attitude of the cashier and my order getting done wrong twice with even more attitude(simple ice coffee folks) it will be awhile before we darken those doors again. One would think the extra hour of sleep would have helped their attitude.

The staff at this location is really nice, and they prepare your drinks properly. There’s also a lot of space inside this Starbucks, and I think it’s decently well laid out. There’s a nice communal table, too, which I frequently sit at. The one real issue I have with this location is the parking. There may be enough parking in the rear, but it’s cramped and difficult to enter/exit the spaces. I always end up parking across the street!

Ok the parking is not great, but the baristas are AMAZING! Know me by name and by drink. Visit almost every morning!

It seems like this place always has issues of not being able to accommodate customers requests. It seems when you ask & make a point to enforce your choices, you end up paying for your request with one of their childish pranks of «we’ll see about that» I’ve read other reviews & their right. I asked for agave in my iced decaf latte. I always get it no matter what county im in or store. I was told they couldn’t because of SM County health codes. Ok fine let me do it myself now in the cup so you can follow it with hot espresso. I got the attitude that was talked about in previous Unilocal. When I finally got my drink & was down the road I noticed they had given me full lead coffee with an extra shot. Great im allergic. Needless to say the next 24 hours were not the best. I will not be going back. I can’t trust that they won’t pull one of their little kid crap games. Corporate needs to do some serious house cleaning in this place.

Inconsistent. Changeable. Erratic. These are undesirable adjectives for the product, service & experience expected of the café where we proudly buy our grossly overpriced morning coffee [I refer you to ‘The Lego Movie.’] Our at least-daily pilgrimages to our favorite coffee drink-dispensing chains, ingeniously implanted in us by marketers expert in the latest neuropsychological behavior modification techniques, and ingrained as habits by status(ego) & peer pressure(fear), fuel our caffeinated lemming parades. The ringing registers and flow of beverages depend on quick and reliable transactions. Process flow here at 17th& El Camino Real is far from robust, with little spare capacity, parallelism, or apparently even cross training. Even an occasional customer forgetting his payment card, or a rare fulfillment error, throws a wrench in the gears which brings the line to a halt and starts the lemmings a-grumbling. Case in point: Today I, yes eye, was that guy who left his iPhone with its Starbucks payment app in the car.(I know, right? Can you believe it? I still can’t.) I apologetically rushed out to retrieve said sole payment means. Upon my return the cashier was still working to «save» my 1-drink order while I waited. Then she proceeded to help the next customer, who happened to have a long order list for the office. Okay, fair enough, sentence passed & fine paid for my oversight. Order taken(tried the NEW S’more Frap w/o whip) & paid for($ 5 + tip for a Grande/medium? Yowza! No wonder I usually stick to drip), I waited until my drink appeared in turn. [N.B. Labeling items as «NEW» is a proven method of increasing sales, even on a known mature product.] It looked like a big frothy thing, as expected for something with a hokey fake Italian-sounding name like Frappuccino. Only after I’d finished most of it did I notice that Something Was Rotten in San Mateo. Most of the drink was(real) whipped cream! But I ordered mine sans cream, and the cashier properly documented my request on the cup(shown in the photos for this store). Argggggh! Did I piss and moan to the barista or the supervisor? No. Why not? If you occupy a seat here for any length of time, you’ll observe dozens of customers being dissed identically. The baristas literally DON’T CARE what’s written on the cup! The cashier’s Sharpie may as well engrave a column of Question Marks on the ordering boxes, because the people making the drinks are likely gonna freewheel it and mix up what they damn well please! And that’s the opposite of Regular, Dependable, Predictable. It’s Chaos, I say. So why 2 stars? That $ 5 S’more was tasty!

The staff is efficient and friendly. It is a comfortable atmospher to get work done on the computer. I am especially grateful that the management generously agreed to provide coffee for the New Ground Theater Dance Company premier of Quanum Leap, which opens June 5, sponsored by Arts Unity Movement. This feels like a community center.

Had my first visit to this Starbucks this morning, once I got my coffee and had it by the sugar counter cause adding some sugar somebody bumped into the counter and my coffee splashed on the floor. I was really apologetic and started to try to clean myself since no one came to help, the employees barely looked me in the face and the ones that did gave me a dirty look. Don’t think I am ever coming back, you can find Starbucks that people will treat you better.

Yet another great Starbucks shop with consistently satisfying experience! Location, location, location! This place conveniently located on El Camino, next to a Safeway store. Lots of parking in rear: busy but manageable even during the morning rush. Another great advantage is a polite and proficient crew running this place. Coffee with a smile doesn’t only taste better, but makes your day a little easier. Large windows overseeing vibrant El Camino makes the sitting environment extra pleasant during morning or sunset hours. Comfy armchairs, long table for bigger group or intimate tables for two, it’s all here for your comfort. If you’re there fighting the traffic, a cup of coffee with pastry will make your battle a little easier. Enjoy!

I like this Starbucks for two reasons: one it is right across the street from the 24 hour Super Sport which makes it easy to pick up a post workout green tea and two, it has a great row of seats facing the window in the corner. The view isn’t anything to write home about, but it is a lovely spot on a rainy day.

Horrific. The line wraps around the building and the cashiers are sooooo slow. Just give me my cup and I’ll write it on my own. But to be fair, she was nice. Just completely flustered, I can live with that. But to wait in line for 15 mins was a little much. The barista on my most recent visit was a total pain the butt. I ordered 2 drinks, and he hands me one after 10 mins and the other one 5 minutes later after 10 customers went by. He looked pissed and uninterested in working there. There was syrup all over the outside of my cup and it was only ¾ of the way filled! I didn’t bother complaining because he looked like he would probably spit in my drink. I just won’t return unless it is absolutely necessary.

Slow service that gives you the deer in the headlights feeling while you wait Seating is severely limited for the amount of people usually there Wifi sucks Parking is an issue(park across the street at Safeway) There’s a TON of coffee places, unless you’re stuck, I recommend driving 1 mile down or 1 mile up before suffering through this location.

Really slow to resolve an issue. I’d been waiting for around ten minutes for a black ice tea latte. Admittedly the Starbucks was packed and the barista was cranking out drinks like crazy, so after waiting a while, I kindly reminded her what I was waiting on. She apologized, saying she thought someone else took my drink(I’d been standing there the whole time and hadn’t seen the drink come up) and said she’d make me another one right away. Five more minutes pass, and she’s still cranking out drinks, hot and cold, and none of them a simple black tea. Another customer who’s waiting nearby begins setting her drinks into a carrier as they arrive and asks me, «Did they forget about you? We came here after you.» I nodded, saying quietly, «Yeah, they forgot my drink. I just reminded her five minutes ago, and she said she’s going to make it.» At this point the barista, overhearing, got the attention of another barista and asked him to make my drink. I repeated the order — a black tea with half and half — and he presented me with a black tea sans half and half. I sighed but was about to take the drink and just add my own, when he grabbed it back really quickly. «Oh, you wanted milk, right?» In went some milk. «Sorry about that,» he said quickly, referring to the wait and not the still incorrect drink prep. I took my drink and left. Only twenty two minutes to pour a pre-made drink and add half and half. Sigh.

The cash register lady was very rude, she saw me walk in and actually went to another worker and told them she was not helping me and walk out of the area. I’m sorry but that is very rude I’m a gold member and I was really offended by this, if she cannot be professional then she should not be working with customers especially Starbucks. I will never give you my business again

I wanted to try out a new Starbucks location to work from because I’ve passed by this location a million times and seemed like there was plenty of places to sit. Upon arrival, I found a huge line and also way more chairs then there were available table spots. Determined to give it a try anyway, I waited in the super long line to be disappointed. My hazelnut latte was actually quite bitter and the whole experience too way too long. The cashier was slow and easily distracted and the barista took his time as well. I’m rarely disappointed with Starbucks, but this was really a letdown. It would have taken way too long to return my latte and have it remade so I just dealt with it and the winding minefield of chairs. On the bright side there’s lots of chairs but you’ll have to ask to share a table to really make use of it and their parking lot is super tight. I’ll stick with my friendly neighborhood location from now on instead. Food: 4⁄10 Service: 4⁄10 Price: $ Atmosphere: 6⁄10
