LOVELOVELOVE this place. I come every morning before work and Sally always knows my order. She’s very friendly and the prices can’t be beat. I absolutely love their sandwiches too! They have a little bit of everything so you can always find something you like. The other staff are just as wonderful and make for an overall great experience. It can however be a bit busy first thing in the morning so keep that in mind if you are in a hurry!

Not that attractive of a place… It’s in the middle of 25th which is known to have some good food places and some cute shops. But this place is painfully average. Walking in, you immediately feel a sense of old. The colors of the café are pretty dry, it makes you feel bored. It’s a pretty small café as well. It seats about 15 people with a couple of seats in the back. Small isn’t always a bad thing, and occasionally having a small place actually really works! But here it seems more claustrophobic… Now onto the stuff that actually matters… The food and the drinks. The food here is expensive! It’s like $ 8 bucks just for a sandwich. I could go to any other place and get a better sandwich for $ 6! The drinks as well seem pretty pricey. That being said, the drinks were average… Nothing awesome, nothing awful. Not a great place to go to. You might as well go to a starbucks around there. It’s average at best, and average is not what you want to hear.

Small Coffee shop with fresh pastries and good coffee. Cute place, pleasant atmosphere, good customer service! It says free Wi-Fi; however, I was not able to turn it on. Oh well, thank god I have xfiniti.

Incredibly burnt-tasting cappuccino, they also filled about a quarter of a medium cup and the rest was foam — feel a bit stiffed(although the flavor was awful so maybe they did me a favor).

TL;DR — Just… go to Starbucks This place is… weird. I was hoping for a cute coffee shop that I could frequent in the area because I am so damn sick of Starbucks and the lack of decent coffee in San Mateo. I am an espresso girl, so I usually pass on drip coffee(sorry Philz, I love ya, but its nothing personal). I stop by around 2 on a Tuesday and its practically empty. Its the most depressing atmosphere… the lady(owner?) ignored me and walked to the back as I walked in, the barista looked like he hated his job and the patrons looked so unproductive and/or disinterested with life. My macchiato was grooooosss. It was lukewarm and tasted so stale… what gives? Seriously guys, I tend to avoid Starbucks at all costs, but it is so much better in comparison to San Mateo Coffee.

Amazing coffee and amazing service. Scott opened the doors early and on his day off –no less! — to help me fuel up on coffee. 5 stars for Scott and 5 stars for the latte!!!

The lady was kind of rude because she couldn’t hear me. She obviously has her bias against me and my friend. She didn’t have any customers and seemed annoyed we were in line, I guess we were interrupting her conversation with her employee. Anyways I ordered a drink and it was a waste of $ 5.00 made my stomach upset.

Walked in there early afternoon. Had to get lunch and kill time while waiting for cellphone getting fixed across the street. Outside the place looked shabby but inside, nicely decorated, with decent artworks by local artists on the wall. Tried the house blend coffee, which was quite excellent, very good balanced mix. Also had the breakfast burrito, as very late lunch, and the lady was super friendly and made it very well, very tasty. Will definitely plan on coming back.

Rude service and bad coffee. No friendly greeting is ok with me but the people there have this«I don’t want to work here and I doing it for a paycheck» aura. Grumpy vibes. I certainly do not need that to get my day started. Most importantly, the coffee has not tasted good at all each time I have been there. So it seems to be the norm and not an aberration. I wanted to give a local neighborhood shop some business but it’s hard to do that when you don’t feel welcome and then you get bad coffee too.

The perfect place to walk to in the morning and meet your neighbors. This is a total local coffee shop with good coffee & espresso, egg sandwiches, and a dedicated local following.

Not a coffee drinker but when visiting my mom who has no internet I need a place to work when I am away from home. Really nice people and a very nice venue with very friendly patrons. They have very good food that is very reasonably priced. They do well with the space the have. Great vibe and feel.

Tried this little neighborhood place for the first time but never coming back. Came into this shop when there was only 1 other customer sitting there, not busy at all. Walked in, guy working there didn’t acknowledge us after minutes, finally when we asked him for help, he gave us a WTF-toned answer«I’m making a sandwich». Bottom line: You can take your sandwich and shove it up if you treat customers so rudely. Why even have a coffee shop if you don’t like people coming in your store?

Got sandwiches and coffee a while back — sandwiches weren’t very good, and the atmosphere among the staff seemed pretty tense. I got double-charged accidentally for $ 20 twice; not a big deal but after 3 phone calls to try and resolve it, the owner still hasn’t followed up or gotten back to me, and I’m still out the extra $ 20. That was a couple months ago. So not a pleasant experience.

A great place to grab a cup of coffee or a delicious sandwich, one of my favorite sandwiches from here is their BLT. They have a unique type of bread that they put it on, pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee.

Pros nice people. Iced vanilla coffee & greasy bagel w/cream cheese were good. Likes :) the vintage table/chairs. Great location. Free WiFi. Obviously it’s only us locals so good vibe. Cons its 1030 am so it’s dirty crumbs everywhere. There’s 3 people here one should have cleaned after the breakfast crowd by now. Only 2 customers when I can in. Not much of food selection. Myself and another customer had to get something else. Would come here again for local vibe. But will also try the spot which is directly across the street next time. Choose this place first because I wanted to support an older independent instead of the newer place. Tbd

Awesome place!!! I had 30 minutes to kill while getting my phone repaired so I walked into this coffee shop. There’s a very homey vibe and the lady who helped me was kind and genuine. I had the BLT($ 7) a bag of chips($ 1) a water($ 1) and a can of Pepsi($ 1) totaling to $ 10. After the nice lady took my order she made it, brought it over to me and I hadn’t even paid yet, which might have been a mistake but I found it to be a very rare and welcoming gesture. On top of everything the sandwich was bomb(very tasty). Really chill place and just from this experience I’m definitely coming back.

I appreciate the location of this little coffee shop. It is right down the street from First Presbyterian Church San Mateo so I stopped in before church one day. They have some assorted baked goods, a cooler case of bottled beverages and some mixed coffee drinks. It’s definitely a home run little place which I normally love but this one was a little run down.

SMCC is do adorable, cozy, and yummy! My review is about 4 months old, but I live by SMCC and it’s still amazing. The owner is super nice. I always get my favorite: black and white mocha – YUM! I love how he makes it, perfect drink to lift you up. This place is also nice to just go sit and catch up with an old friend. Relaxed aura and convenient location.

The service here isn’t what I’d call fast. There’s usually only 1 person working, so orders take a bit of time. The shop is charming, though, and it’s definitely what you’d call a neighborhood shop. Coffee is served in real mugs which you can pay yourself(on the honor system?) in a little can next to the coffee dispenser. Ice cream here tastes cheap… like a giant jug from Smart and Final for $ 5. I guess that’s why it’s only $ 2.50 for a single scoop and $ 3 for a double. The guy working during the afternoon was really thoughtful though, so I won’t even hold crappy ice cream against the shop. He gave me an extra cup for my ice cream so that it wouldn’t drip all over the place(even though I had ordered a cone, because it was 93 degs outside), and came outside with a bowl of water for my dog«because he looked thirsty.»
