Don’t do it. I don’t normally eat in the food court but my boyfriend and I have been cooped up at home sick for the whole week so I thought I would take us out. We ended up at Hillsdale and decided to eat lunch here. He went to get a gyro but I wanted a soup so I went here and got their tempura udon. Prices are sort of expensive. If the amount I got justified the price then it wouldn’t have been a problem but right when I received my order, the only words going through my mind were«rip off.» The tempura just sits on the counter all day under heating lamps and their noodles gets cooked in the back then gets to the front where the worker pours soup in and that’s that. He covered the bowl with a lid so I didn’t even see the end results until I sat down. Udon noodles were soft, but the soup was bland. No tempura sauce so I dipped them in the soup and it wasn’t any better. The tempura just tasted like oil. Very nasty. Overall: No.

Rice, veggies, and teriyaki chicken is a pretty simple dish. I have had this meal at other malls and I have never had any complaints until I ate here. For one, the quality of the chicken is not great. Mine was over cooked, so each bite had a little crunch. In my opinion, the veggies were undercooked. I’m used to properly steamed veggies. Overall, I expected more since it was 3 bucks more than most Japanese joints. So I would recommend eating at the gyro place next to it. They actually give you more bang for your buck.

this is the only decent place to get food in the mall. if you go anywhere else, you trippin. the chicken bowl is b+. if you get the 2 or 3 combo, you get much more for your money. trust me

Blatantly tried to rip me off. I ordered a side of two chicken breasts for my boyfriend. They took one breast an cut it in two, then chopped that up to make me think it was two full breasts. My boyfriend went back with the plate and told them that they had given me one. They then gave him the proper amount. What is with people who try to pull the crap on a customer? Guess some people will do anything for a dollar. They have no shame. The Pita Gyros next door was much better food, large portion and very, very nice people.

Yummy, affordable and quick lunch spot Needed a quick fix for lunch and headed for Hillsdale Mall’s food court. Have tried quite a few of the stalls here and Hana Grill still prove to be the best amongst them. Got myself a Teriyaki Chicken Bowl $ 7.99. Generous portion of vegetables and chicken. Thus far, the food have been consistent and satisfying. They offer Teppanyaki, Teriyaki Bowls, Salad, sides and noodle bowls. Quite a decent selection for a small take out booth. They offer set meals too which are paired with a drink/side. You can request for water if you are not in the mood for soda or flavor drinks. Don’t expect much of a service or atmosphere. It’s a food court! With that said, a good place to have a quick meal and continue with shopping. They accept credit card here. Line move fast, so make sure you know what you are ordering before joining the queue.

OMG! Stopped for lunch yesterday and the Asian woman who was training this poor girl kept screaming at her and embarrassing her in front of everyone! The two girls serving were very quiet and so intimidated by this woman it was awful! I tried to get the name of the woman so that I could report her but couldn’t get it. I finally spoke up and told her she was rude and shouldn’t be screaming at these women! It was very embarrassing for them. I hope she gets fired!

Beef Udon for $ 9.29. Most expensive crappy noodle soup ever and they didn’t even bother to fill it up a little more. Only filled up to a little more than 50 percent. Never coming back here again. So ridiculous

Well, in a mall food court there aren’t the healthiest or sanitary options. The way I see it, this place defies both normalcies. Fairly clean, reasonably priced– lets just say Daddy Likie! Go ahead, give the cheesesteak a try, or wait in the 20 min line for Panda Express. I won’t. The same mid aged Asian woman is working the 10+ times I’ve been there, so I assume she is manager/owner. She’s a nice lady, and usually has the rest of the Hispanic staff slapping those teriyaki bowls together like bobby flay at a Burger King.

Food here is awful. You’re better off going to Panda Express. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl, gyoza and california rolls. The only saving grace of this meal was the teriyaki sauce. Both the gyoza and california rolls were bland and tasteless. I was only able to ingest these soulless morsels of food by dipping them in the teriyaki sauce.

Chicken too dry, something needs to be done as this has been mentioned in numerous reviews Also got beef bowl which was not bad, tender and flavorful, meat quality ok This place could do more business and be a challenger to pandas dominance in this food court if they could just execute in being a typical japanese teriyaki mall place

Been going here for few years. This is a hit or miss place but since they raised their prices, it’s all miss. Are you really willing to pay over $ 10 for mediocre Japanese food? I DONTWANTNOMEDIOCRE… I DONTWANTNOMEDIOCRE. NO! Today is the last time I come here. I paid over $ 10 dollars for the usual combo I get that’s $ 8 and it was really dry and LESSPORTION. Raise Price + Less Portion = SAYONARA!

My wife and I were in the Hillsdale Mall and thought of something different to eat, instead of Panda this time. We were thinking of something like Jakes in Tanoran Mall or near it. We walked up to Hana Grill and decided to give it a try. Although its not Hawaiian but Japanese Cuisine the pictures looked good and the prices reasonable. So we both ordered the Combo 3… steamed rice+vege+½ chicken+½ beef+ two soft drinks, cost $ 20.16. Soon we were able to find a place to sit down, not to crowded at the time. Well we started eating and found it very good. My only complaint was that the cabbage was not cooked very well, and the broccoli included. Everything else was great, the chicken and the beef, the sauce really tasty. As well as the rice we will likely come back again in the future. They always had a line when we were there, so if you haven’t try it yet, do so. Enjoy until next time take care.

I was hungry as hell when i saw a nice picture of savory looking curry on the menu. Despite being super hungry, i could not finish order or chicken curry over rice. The curry was watery and had zero flavor. My gf ordered chicken yaki soba. That i admit was actually pretty good. Overall not a very memorable experience.

Much changed and for the better. The service is typical very polite and professional Japanese, in particular from the lady managing the place. Great rolls, great bowls, the noodles I must admit are a little to oily for my personal taste, but they are otherwise good. Service has much improved since I wrote my initial review. Stop by and enjoy some good Japanese fast food.

Disgusting DRY California roll for $ 7.70. AVOID! What a rip off! Worse than Supermarket sushi! Never again! I was so disappointed. They have fake pics up of food at their business. My goodness please do yourself a favor and avoid this overly expensive place w crappy food!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? It’s mall food. That should say it all meaning that it is a fast food attempt to satisfy your craving for genuine Japanese food. The california rolls are a bit cold. meaning they’ve been pre-made ahead of time and been kept in the fridge for a longer period of time. The tempura items have been pre-fried in advance and have been sitting under the hot lamps so they’re not freshly fried or as crispy as you’ve imagined it to be. The chicken teriyaki is ok — the meat is a bit tough because it’s old and has been sitting out and teriyaki sauce is probably pre mixed but it’s ok. Other than that, no real complaints. Price is your average mall food price which of course is higher than anything you would be expected to reasonably pay somewhere else but it’s because you are at the mall and have no choice and are willing to eat there and that’s why you pay that much. Price=higher than average but not insane Quality=not gourmet and has been sitting out awhile Taste=almost a good substitute for the real thing Overall=yeah I’d go here to kill a craving but don’t expect anything special or close to the real thing

I’ve been going to Hana Grill ever since I got my very first(and last) job working at the mall back in 1998! The gentleman that works there still sometimes asks me if I work at the mall. So cute! :) I always order the Super Chicken combo — it’s so delicious every time! Sometimes I order it with veggies instead of rice. The portion is huge, especially if you order it to-go. They do not skimp on chicken!

Was initially put off by the store employees joking around /answering their personal cell phones and taking forever to ring me up. I have to admit the food was pretty good. Chicken bowl with chicken, salad, and rice with some teriyaki sauce on it. I would repeat!
