I’ve eaten take out here twice and both times it has been amazing. The meats are so delicious that I will undoubtably come back again. I recommend both the lamb and beef gyro, as well as the chicken. Definite a must try.

I saw a great review on this place so I was very excited and came here. It was closed! I intentionally carried a super hungry stomach for a big feast and got so disappointed! When do they open???

What happened to this place? I went once, it was great but it has been closed for a while. I hope all is well, we want to go back!

I would give this place higher stars if they were opened during their advertised hours. I stopped by once and tried their lamb gyro wrap and it tasted good enough for me to want to return. However, over the last week, I’ve stopped by starving for a gyro wrap and they’ve been closed with no explanation. Their hours list that their open M-F until 10pm and I’ve stopped by between 5−7pm this week to their closed doors. This spot has been notorious for failed restaurants. I hope Aspendos doesn’t become another victim.

Amazing food. I am turkish so this is as close as it gets like at home. Lahmacun and bulgur kofte is absolutely delicious. Gyros is delicious as well.

This is the best Turkish food in Bay area. You taste the local flavors. I can highly recommend chicken doner, adana kebab, lahmacun(Turkish pizza) and baklava. These were the things I tried at my first visit and they were all awesome. I will go back to try more. They serve breakfast too.

The reviews were great — the food not so much. We had a vegetarian wrap that was doughy and filled with cold mushy eggplant and other items. The chicken doner(gyro) was dry and almost unpalatable. The baba ghanooush was delicious and served with special Turkish bread that was the highlight of the meal. The place is empty and now I know why. Go to Taste of Meditterean a mile or so away — not Turkish but delicious Middle Eastern food.

Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations– I live down the street and have seen many meh restaurants come and go from this space, but I was so happy to be proven wrong and I hope Aspendos is here for good. We had falafel, mixed grill plate, and hummus and it was all delicious. The mixed grill plate included chicken gyros, chicken Adana, beef kebab, lamb/beef Adana kebab and each was excellent — the chicken gyros was particularly surprising since I’ve personally never had chicken gyros that wasn’t dry or bland. The restaurant is also totally renovated — it used to be kind of dark and cramped, and they’ve opened the place all up. They also have a big patio in the back and are apparently going to be doing weekend breakfast/brunch. If their breakfast is as good as the dinner we had, I know where my new summer brunch spot is going to be!

This place just popped up on my Unilocal mobile app… A new place, not too far from my house that has great Unilocal reviews… Time to check it out! The food is really good, reasonably priced! I especially liked the«Pita with meat»… Kind of a Turkish version of a quesadilla. I will add this place to my «once a month» list… I would highly recommend you give them a try!

Wow! So good! Just got home from having dinner here and we are in a food coma! Hubby had Adana Kebabs and he was making yummy noises during his entire meal. I had the Mediterranean Wrap — delicious! I’ve never been that enthused with Mediterranean food in the past but this place is amazing. It’s perfect for both vegetarians and meat lovers. Really hope this place stays for good!

Amazing food. Try their Adnan kabab. You will love it… went there for the first time and loved their service. People are very friendly. Definitely going back. Their kazandibi dessert is out of this world.

Stopped by for their soft opening and was pleasantly surprised. Food is reasonably priced, atmosphere is casual enough to be a sit down restaurant without feeling like a fast food diner, and on a nice day, there’s a back patio where you can sit and enjoy the sun! Chicken gyro — very fresh and bursting with flavor. Add some of their cucumber yogurt sauce and you’re good to go Lamb chops — cooked perfectly. no gamey smell and very tender. Turkish Soda — tasted like BUBBLEGUM! Pretty neat stuff. So not your run of the mill coca cola or sprite!

The wait is finally over! I’ve been eager for the opening of Aspendos for around 8 or 9 months now since I first saw the sign go up on the building and had lately started to wonder if it was ever going to open. Talking to Unilocal buddy Tami S earlier this week I mentioned it and said that I thought they must have come into some building issues for it to take so long only to then discover that it had opened just a few days before our conversation. The restaurant is in the spot that used to be La Cantina Mexican restaurant and having been there also I am impressed with the transformation this place has gone through. Where before the interior looked like it was crumbling, falling apart and in desperate need of a coat of paint it is now bright and fresh with tasteful décor. There are 2TV’s mounted on the walls, an open kitchen, dark wood tables and chairs, completely renovated restrooms and a large back patio no longer covered by a tacky canopy. If you look at the before and after you could quite easily mistake it for a Gordon Ramsay makeover Kitchen Nightmares style. The menu is extensive with everything from Soup and Wraps to Kebabs and Lahmacun. Everything is made fresh to order in their open plan kitchen so you can see exactly what is going on with your food! Anybody that reads my reviews will know by now this is a feature that pleases me greatly. * Mixed Grill — $ 18.95( ). Consists of Chicken and Beef Doner(commonly known as Gyros this side of the pond), Chicken Adana, Lamb Adana, Kofta and Chicken /Lamb Shish Kebab. Served with a small Salad, Onions and a Grilled Tomato along with a choice of Rice, Bulgar Pilaf or Fries. The meat was cooked well and seasoned nicely, even Hubby enjoyed the Kofta which is often his least favorite. Although we found the portions to be slightly smaller than other places we frequent they are still a decent size and was able to share the one plate as a light meal. I also ordered a starter of Tzatziki( $ 4.95) to go with the complimentary bread which they bring you once you’re seated( ). The Tzatziki was very fresh and such a large portion I had enough to take half home with me for dinner the following day. Although it is a sit down down restaurant you must go to the cash register to order and pay for your meal where the staff will then bring everything to the table for you once it’s prepared and cooked. Opening hours have just been updated on the listing and aside from serving Lunch and Dinner Monday to Friday they also serve Breakfast at the weekend. Catering is also available. The staff and owners are very friendly and clearly enjoying serving the local public. I really hope this place is successful for them. *Street parking is limited.

Wow I’m a fan, Never had Turkish food before but that all changed tonight. We stumbled upon the grand opening of Aspendos. We were greeted by the three owners and felt like we were being invited into their home. Everyone was so friendly. I love walking into a restaurant and feeling the energy. This place was alive and exciting. I wanted to be here. We secured the last table and ordered several items off the menu. They prepared the food right in front of you which I enjoyed. The mixed grill plate is a great place to start. It had a sampling of all the meats(chicken, ground beef, steak and lamb) with were delicious and tender. We filled up on the shear portions of this but still had several more plates coming. The pida with meat and cheese was amazing. The fried bulgar balls were very tasty well. Never had anything like those two before. They gave us two complimentary desserts. Baklava was probably the best I’ve ever had and it was in the traditional shape it was more like a roll this is also a must try. We left happy fat and warm and vowing to return possibly tomorrow. I forgot to order the hummus which to me is the standard that every Mediterranean restaurant should be measured, so I ordered it to go. I had a huge portion to try and it was delicious even though I was about to burst i still shoved it down. Welcome to the neighborhood and can’t wait to come back.

The traditional authenticiy focus on foods in the bay are growing by the minute. Aspendos is bringing that for Turkish fare. It used to be hard to find Lahmacun and now it’s prevalent across many places like here. But that’s not the only thing. Kokorec with lamb innards sauteed with spices in a sandwich, and fried cold lamb liver are just examples of things you wouldnt find a few years ago. For safe measure, I also got a staple and bar measure for me, the iskender kabob. Everything was fairly solid, and I think the offal dishes is where this place shines. All the employees are very friendly and are very willing to share especially if you show you understand their food. Worth checking out if you want really traditional fare.
