Fresh squeezed OJ. Nice waitress. The best chicken tortilla soup in town. Menu is more original then most Mexican places. Great solid Mexican. May be the best in town

Horrible experience!!! Our waitress got our whole order wrong and instead of having her fix it, we thought we’d just let it slide since it is the first time visiting. We didn’t want to be jerks. Well come to check out and firstly they overcharged us. Then when I brought it to their attention, they argued with me about the cost discrepancy stating that beef fajita was extra. I told him that firstly we ordered chicken, and secondly no where near our entrée on the menu does it state extra charges and also the fact that the waitress didn’t say anything about extra cost. The boy at the counter said well you still ate it. It should have been the same cost! Had they just admitted their mistake and given me what should have been returned, we may have been repeat customers and I wouldn’t be leaving a bad review. Thank you for arguing with the customer and ruining my night out with my family. The food had small portions but wasn’t half bad. If you go, Clarify with the waitress what you are ordering and be aware of hidden costs.

I hesitate to review this place so highly because I don’t want to talk so I have to wait I love this restaurant the food is very inexpensive the breakfast tacos are the best I’ve found in San Marcos and they have really good pancakes even plus they have your staple Valley food like chilaquiles and migas. Excellent. Inside is simple but spotlessly clean.

I stopped by on my way through town for breakfast. Simple diner atmosphere. Migas with charro beans were well-done, as were the flour tortillas. Service was prompt and accurate. However… the«fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious! It really makes a difference! I want to try something other than breakfast next time.

This place is an awesome little gem, if you’re looking for a family style, laid back, authentic Mexican restaurant. I’ve been craving good Mole for a while and when I saw that Rogelio’s makes it, we drove straight there. I grew up with authentic Mexican food and it seems hard to find sometimes, since most places are Tex-Mex. My husband had the Caldo, my daughter had the beans, rice, and chicken taco kids plate; and I had the Chicken Mole. The chicken mole was rich and delicious, perfectly spiced. My husband’s Caldo came out hot(temp) and flavorful, just like momma makes it. My daughter wiped out her taco. We finished it up with fried ice cream, the plate was huge! We couldn’t finish it, so we took it home. The environment was laid back and welcoming. There was one waitress working, the manager was there, as well as a lady at the check out counter — they were all very accommodating and polite. Everyone asked how our food was and made sure we had everything we needed. Wonderful experience! Will be back :-)

Can I rate this place a .25 of a star? THEWORST! Fake tortillas + shitty service = food I’m trying to erase from my memory.

The salsa here was good. However everything else was terrible, the service(1 waitress) was on her phone he entire time and neglected to get me a single refill. The food I finally got, I was not impressed about. Got the chicken quesadillas. Half of them were missing chicken, and the other half was terrible quality chicken with gristle and fat. I would not recommend this restaurant to an enemy.

Was vacationing in San Marcos, stopped here for Mexican food. Overall, good food. Even better service-family owned business!

I have been going here since my grandmother took me as a child and it is just as good now as it was then. Rojelio always comes out and says hi and you can just taste his passion in the food. Not only do you get authentic Mexican food but you really cannot beat the price. I really love this place, it is just a quintessential San marcos restaurant to me.

Not much to say but eh. The quality of food(store bought tortillas) and service has really gone downhill. There were only two other tables other than ours and we were never asked for refills or to check if our food was ok. It’s safe to say I will not be returning especially with so many better options.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, inviting atmosphere, and friendly, attentive customer service at a great price, look no further. We love this place and the people who work here. The food and the service are consistently excellent. We enjoy supporting this local business and do so every chance we get. Our favorite dish is the huevos rancheros. Plus, the freshly ground coffee tastes great every time. Be sure to check out the breakfast and lunch specials Monday through Friday. Great food, prices, and service. Is there anything else you need to know? I don’t think so. Be sure to say hi to Rogelio and his family, who you will most certainly see working.

Yum! We came here because the place we intended to go was packed with a ridiculous wait. So happy we made it here! I had the mushroom enchiladas and my husband had the chicken chipotle and both were delicious. We don’t usually eat the beans and rice but those were great — definitely not canned or mixes and properly seasoned. The salsa was hot and flavorful. We will come here again.

Traveling through Texas and had a hankering for good breakfast tacos. Encouraged by reviews on this site, I decided to try Rogelio’s. It proved to be a wise decision. It was delicious. I enjoyed chorizo, egg, potato, and cheese tacos. They were fantastic. I also tried some pancakes, which were excellent. They were also making fresh squeezed orange juice on site. It is a true local place and only a few blocks off the main highway. The staff was friendly and service was great. Family of three ate for $ 21 plus tip. Would definitely eat here again — too bad I live 7 hrs away… although it just might be worth it.

Absolutely love this place! Not many people know about this local San Marcos hit because it is so rich in history but everything is great every time I go. As a student at Texas state many college kids go to the known places near campus but this is the spot! The owners family are all great people, the staff is always friendly and great, and the food is always good even if it’s not Mexican! Definitely the hole in the wall place you want to visit if your traveling through.

Reasonably priced good food and it’s nice to eat at locally-owned businesses. Generous serving for the price especially recommend their daily specials. Not the polished atmosphere but cute murals and kind staff. Tired of the big chains!

My boyfriend always says that Rogelio’s is the best place in San Marcos to find menudo that is consistently good. Also, if there was a horchata badge I’d give it to Rogelio’s, hands down.

Great service! Our waitress was patient with us while we tried to understand some items on the menu. Food was delicious. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Really impressed with this place. We ate breakfast there, and everything we ordered was great. I don’t remember the dish name that I got but it had eggs with a green sauce and queso. My wife had the migas with barbacoa and really liked it. Coffee was good.

Excellant tortilla soup. The breakfast is always great. Ask for our favorite server, «Chuy» and he will take great care of you. Rogelio is a great community leader and is always doing positive things for the San Marcos community.

Coming from Corpus we had not found a decent place to have breakfast tacos or a Mexican style breakfast until we stopped in at Rogelio’s! The food was excellent! Everything was very fresh and tasty! All four of us ate for $ 20 too! Restaurant was clean, and staff was friendly! Highly recommend!

Breakfast is amazing here. Get the John Wade Special… migas and barbacoa on one plate! It’s delicious. The Machacado is also a favorite. Dinner is so-so. Breakfast is where it’s at!
