I can’t say enough good about Ricks. I called them unsure about when I would be able to be at my rental and they were so friendly and worked with me on the time. Once I got there they came over and did the job quickly and were so very nice and helpful. Then after that, we lost the keys in the flood and Rick stayed on call to come back over to help us again. We did find the keys but that just shows what a great and caring person he is. Don’t call anyone else cause Ricks is the best!!!

Probably been ten years since they had to let me back in my own car or house, but they’re still the first I recommend to anyone asking. And I still stop in there for locks, key chains, and getting copies made.
Today I got a rental storage unit so stopped in for a new lock. Rick – he saw what I was buying as another employee rang up my purchase – asked if I knew how to set a combination lock and said if I had any difficulty to bring it back and they would help me out. For a twenty dollar lock! There are people who will take hundreds off you and not be interested in your satisfaction, but this is old school, small town service that gives you the warm fuzzies and makes you want to bake them a pie to say thank you.
Trustworthy and highly, highly recommended.

Rick saved the day when my daughter locked herself out of her bedroom in her apartment. Got there quickly and gained her access to her room so she could retrieve her keys. She raved about how quick he worked. Plus he was kind enough to give her a ride to campus so she would not miss her afternoon class. He is a local San Marcos locksmith with outstanding service and extremely trustworthy. Would recommend Rick’s Lock & Key Service if your child/​student finds themselves in a similar predicament.

I am really impressed with Rick’s.
I only give them ⁴⁄₅ stars because they aren’t personally able to cut a new key and program it, but his brother at The Key Depot, does.
When I called Rick about my car key breaking in half, he apologized for the inconvenience and explained that his brother would be able to help. Rick gave me the number and I was able to get them to come out within the hour.
I’m very impressed with these brothers. Having the same type of business in the same general area in this economy must be hard, but they help each other out.
I will definitely continue to recommend Rick’s!
