Good service but very bland food. They apparently don’t believe in over-seasoning, though that seems to be the case at most Cracker Barrels. Reasonable prices for the amount of food received, but the sodas that were ordered came out, and one had trash floating in it. The Manager was nice enough to comp the meal and soda, and server Tricia was very accommodating. Would hesitate to eat here again, mainly because of the trash floating in the soda. Makes me wonder if the plates were clean before the food was plated.

Ok food. Was not rich in flavor. Didn’t feel quite comfortable with the staff as I do in my hometown. If you are in a rush to eat and you do not care about the quality of food, then this is the place for you.

We sit down; he walks up, takes our drink order and asks if we are ready to order, like he’s in a hurry or something. We hadn’t even had a chance to open the menu yet, no, we aren’t ready. He finally brings us our waters and we still aren’t ready, that menu is huge!!! He leaves. We figure out what we want in like the next 5 mins and then wait for him to come back. And wait. And wait. He finally shows back up almost 15mins later and we order. I order the ribeye and ask for it to have some pink, he says medium well and I say, no, a bit more pink then that, make it medium, I also sub out my 3 sides for the salad and baked potato and he asks if I want it loaded, it doesn’t say it’s an extra price on the menu and he doesn’t say it is so I say yes, no chives. He leaves. We get our food in about 10ish mins after ordering and then the complimentary bread(which is the best part of this trip by the way) and I cut into my steak. It was like shoe leather. No pink, tough and tasteless. It’s a $ 15 steak, so I add salt and ketchup and choke it down. We get the ticket and my meal is $ 16.48, per the menu it should have been $ 14.99!!! I ask him why and he states that I upgraded my potato and I say, but there isn’t anything on the menu about an extra $ up nor did you say anything. He doesn’t care, says oh, sorry and walks away. We weren’t impressed with him at all and our tip reflects that fact. The young woman that checked us out was very nice and tried to get me to talk to someone, but I just want to leave(just worked 2 jobs that day and was tired) and don’t want to have to wait, so we leave. We won’t be back.

Personally I find the word«cracker» offensive. It’s demeaning to «white» people and is racially motivated. I would think that in this day and age(we have an African American president for gods sake) that we as a society could change this hate. The food was pretty good. #whitelivesmatter

My coworker and I ate lunch here Saturday and as usual, busy. Had a really nice waitress and enjoyed my house salad that was large and had plenty of goodies in it. My coworker ordered one of the breakfast with sunny side up eggs. the whites were way undercooked and still transparent. I would have sent them back but he swallowed them pretty much whole… I’ll be back, but won’t order sunny side up eggs!

Always great to eat there. Perfect every time. Even at the busy hours! Food is always hot on the ready no matter what you order. Friendly and attentive staff.

More char than I’ve ever received before appeared on my seasonal menu pepper bacon sandwich, but what the hey – I’ve never smoked and in the words of Tom Berenger, «Everybody gotta die sometime, Red.» While this place is never my first choice, I end up here at friends’ requests and this was the first time I ever questioned whether I’d eat something I ordered. Usually I just feel sorry for the overcooked vegetables. I don’t know if the Trisha W on my receipt was the sweet, attentive waitress or the cashier. Eggs in a basket, sunny side up, is my near-always choice and has never disappointed. Service, even on the busiest days, is attentive 90% or more of the time. Some of the old-fashioned candies in the shop area are worth picking up every visit. The red raspberry gel car fresheners are heavenly – I went noseblind to it after a week but got compliments long after. If you are the tourist shopping on a traditional holiday, SENDSOMEONEAHEADTORESERVE A TABLE because the wait reflects the fact half the universe decided to visit the mall at the same time you did. Sunday morning’s the other time you shouldn’t arrive in a hurry.

Great food, Southern atmosphere, and service! We came in the late evening, around 9pm. It was still fairly busy, but out server was very attentive and came several times despite being sent away because we couldn’t figure out what to try. Our group settled on a variety to have a bit of everything: catfish, country fried steak, meat loaf, roast beef, and a bunch of different sides. They have for a limited time sweet potatoes fries. It took a bit of time for the food to come out, but everything was perfect as expected. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the food is good, but it isn’t the best southern food available. It’s a great option for those seeking quality, basic food at reasonable prices. There’s also a lot of variety you won’t see at other places, plus breakfast is served all day. Meals include cornbread and biscuits. Ask for jam if you want them on your biscuits. You pay at the shop counter when you are done eating.

Last June we had breakfast here and wasn’t very impressed. We were not sure what all the HYPE was about when we came to visit Texas. Now we are Texas residence and we decided we would try dinner. My husbands parents insisted. SO we went for my husbands birthday dinner and it was YUMMY! The Sunday with the nuts was GREAT! Hashbrown casserole was to die for! So happy we gave it another shot

Had dinner here last night. Nothing fantastic, just normal Cracker Barrel food. Had been on the road for 2 weeks, and just wanted something close to home cooking. The service was good, and the good was fine.

The fact that this is a franchise restaurant takes the guesswork out of what’s on the menu. Nevertheless I imagine each restaurant might vary a bit in quality simply because of the different people working there especially in the kitchen. That being said, I do want to complement the cooks in the San Marcos location. The food was very fresh and prepared perfectly.(Nuthin’ like chicken fried steak with all the fixin’s on Valentine’s Day!) The server was polite and friendly and offered to give me iced tea in a to-go cup when I was ready to leave. This is a small gesture that feels really appreciated in Texas where the hot weather persists almost year-round. Being female, I couldn’t resist perusing their country store at the front, especially the old-time candy and toys. I would recommend this location to anyone who is passing by on I 35 near San Marcos.

Food is «OK.» Not sure about all the good reviews for their country gravy. Both times we’ve been here, you could take the bowl, turn it upside down, and it hardly moves. It is like one big congealed glop of gravy. It also tastes like they don’t cook down the flour enough when making the roux, it has an uncooked flour taste to it. On the other hand, their grits are runny, so go figure. Scrambled eggs — way overcooked. Bacon — also way overcooked. Last time we were there, hubby specified when ordering to not make it super crispy, and they obliged. I’m just not that impressed with their breakfasts(which is the only thing we’ve tried). I did try a bite of one of my hubby’s pancakes, and it did taste good. Maybe I will just have to stick to that if we go again. Service has always been good. Stay away on the weekends if you’re in a hurry, they get awfully crowded.

Love it here. Great wait staff and the food is always great. If you haven’t yet try the hash brown casserole it is worth every calorie.

Horrible experience at this location! Part of my meal came out wrong. Instead of taking the whole meal back they just fixed the part that was wrong. In the mean time the rest of my meal got cold & soggy because I wanted to eat it all of it together at the same time. The manager comes by and asks how things are, I let him know I’m not happy with the meal and he didn’t offer any retribution at all. He apparently really just did’t care. Then when paying the bill the cashier guy asked how it was, I let him know and he didn’t seem to care either. Eat at Cracker Barrel often, but will not anymore.

Waitress named Natalie was extremely rude. I was hungry when we arrived so I ordered a small side salad with my drink. When she came back to take the whole order she rudely told me I couldn’t use that as one of my sides since she already rung it up and that«it doesn’t work that way.» Sorry Natalie, but you will be paying for that salad via no tip!

I have only been here a few times, but it is consistently friendly service, good fast food, and fair prices. Sometimes it looks like the lines are crazy and they are, but what seems to be and hour wait from a glance ends up bring a 30 min or less wait that’s worth it if you like good old American country comfort food. The chicken friend steak and fried okra is killer!

It was my first time to visit a Cracker Barrel location and I went in with my son for breakfast today. The store in the front was busy and clean and I made my way to the host/hostess stand and signed in and was immediately taken to my table where I was seated and my server David C. came by and took my drink order. When he came back he told me the special for the day but I opted for something else. The food came out within 5 – 10 minutes and was hot and ready to be eaten. The breakfast I had was great. everything was very tasty including the homemade biscuits. The baked apples were good just odd they cut up the apples and baked them with the skin on the apple. Made it hard to chew up… but the food was good. My son made a mess and threw up all of his food at the table(he is only 10 months) so I cleaned him and the vomit up and went into the bathroom and it was pleasantly clean. The baby area was a little small but it was clean as was the rest of the restroom and smelled clean as well. Some places has nasty restrooms but this one I give a 2 thumbs up. The cashier process was slow because there was only 1 girl up in the front and a long line. Finally someone came to help her and got the line moving along and I was paid and out of there really quick with a sick child in hand. I will be back when he is better and my husband next time.

The service is slow and the portions are MUCH smaller than what they were a few years ago. The dumplings were dry and gummy instead of moist and creamy. GETITTOGETHERCRACKERBARREL.

Scrabbled eggs, bacon, thick cut, fried crisp, grits, biscuits smothered with country gravy. What a great breakfast. Service was great, there were not too many people in this early on a Monday morning. Of course after your meal, hit the store, there are some beautiful items for sale, and I love the seasonal stuff.
