We stopped in today to get some really esoteric alcohol. The guy behind the counter was helpful and they had it in stock! Woohoo. Also, the store has a huge selection and everything was clean. I’d come back!

This place has been around as long as I can remember, I lived in SLO20 years ago and it existed then. I remember back then it was the only place I could find Clove cigarettes.(I was in my twenties then, know better now lol) I went in there today cuz I was already in SLO and got a decently priced bottle of wine and I noticed their prices were not what I expected to pay in downtown SLO. And the man who waited on me was comical and personable, and respectful.

One of the best Craft Beer selections I’ve seen out here in SLO county, reminds me a lot of some of my favorite bottle shops back in LA. They even stated they will search for hard to find beers if you request them, which is awesome. Heck they even had some bottles from the Brew Dogs, which can be tricky to find. Prices are fair even on tough to find stuff. Liquor and wine selection looked decent too, and I will report back when I get the time to peruse those sections. Otherwise, very friendly staff pumping some good music; we will most certainly be back!

Pretty decent beer store in a great location walkable from downtown SLO. Lots of Port Brewing, Lost Abbey, Firestone Walker, Deschutes, some local Tap It bombers. Definitely worth a drop in if you are walking that far up Higuera St.

I have never ever dealt with such rude people in my life I will never ever walk into this place again to two old men who would yell at just a 21 year old girl who just wants some customer service I brought in my id to prove my honesty and they still called me stupid for not carrying my shit wtf kinda ppl do they think they are. U will lose ur business and I will do everything I can to get ppl to shut u down u jerks. I will tell everyone how rude u are. I am so shocked and just mad.

I love the clerk’s ! It switched management awhile back and now there’s a family(hello nepotism!) running it. They’re Syrian and they’re really friendly. There’s 2 brothers(they’re pretty easy on the eyes too) and a sister and a dad. They always ask about /talk to my niece and my daughter by name. One brother gives the girls suckers whenever he sees them. The whole family is really cool from what I can see. The dad drinks yerba matte tea with a metal straw. I have never been treated poorly by any of them and being that my sister lives right down the street, I go there often.

Open Xmas Eve! Sandy’s has a damned good beer selection. Liquor looked pretty good, too, but I didn’t really peruse it. I got in line behind some guys who seemed to be homeless. I liked that they were treated with respect by the clerks. Although the Sandy’s boys had to work Xmas Eve, they seemed to be in a festive mood. My wife and I certainly appreciated their accommodating hours. Sandy’s: There when you need it. Happy Krimble! Merry Goo Year!

Last night I went into Sandy’s liquor to buy some tic tacs. All I had was 20’s in my wallet and a few credit cards. The cost was $ 1.79 and I handed over my credit card, they ran it and gave me the receipt to sign for $ 2.29. Politely, I stated, «oh, I didn’t know you had a $.50 charge for credit card charges and where is that charge posted?» The guy rudely responded, «well, now you know.» Perplexed, I just tilted my head and walked off. I didn’t feel like starting a scene, especially over a measly $.50 but he was so incredibly rude about it I felt compelled to write my first 1-star review on Unilocal.I will go out of my way to never spend money there again.

They closed the Deli portion over 5 years ago, get over it. The beer selection is unrivaled, get excited about it. The wine selection is incredibly balanced and gives the overpriced«Boutique wine shops» a run for their money,(Numanthia, Chandon, Cloudy Bay, Sexual Chocolate) Get used to it. ps. The restaurant next door DOESNOT charge a corkage fee, GETONIT!!!

They used to have an actual deli in there that sold made to order sandwiches. It was AWESOME. I guess booze pays better. But sure do miss it for a lunch spot.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. So my last post got removed(apparently I offended people) Whatever, I thought my post was funny but… what are you gonna do? ANYWAY… I do not like Sandy’s, I feel that the people who work there don’t have very good people skills. They’re snippy and DO accuse people of stealing alcohol if they take a while looking at the selection and DO accuse people of having fake IDs… A LOT(if I had a fake ID whhhhhy would I make myself 27??) you don’t run a business that way and I’m MORE than happy to take my business elsewhere. Plus its more expensive then other liquor stores in town.

Upon entering Sandy’s be prepared for the most amazing top chart club banger mix your ears have ever discovered. Yeah. Good beer selection. Good eats, get the salsitas chips. Nice lighter, chains, and nicknaks. No restrooms, pee elsewhere. We love you Sandy’s, our neighbor.

If I was reviewing this on beer selection alone it would be 5 stars. I just moved here and have been looking for a store that sells a wide selection of craft beer and Sandy’s by far had an awesome beer selection! I was very impressed with all the microbrews they had. What I was not impressed with, however, was the price of the beer. i am used to paying a pretty penny for my craft beer, but what they were charging was pretty much over the top. $ 15 for a bottle of La Folie? Please. Plus, the majority of the beer was mismarked, for example, I was very excited to find Unibroue Quelque Chose and it was priced at $ 10.99. When I went up to pay for it it was $ 15.99. …which brings me to my final point. When I brought up the mismatch of pricing to the store clerk and decided not to purchase an item based upon a drastic increase in price he was very rude. Actually, he basically acted like he couldn’t care less about my business in the first place. I commented on how impressed I was with the selection of beer and the look he gave me made me want to punch him in the face. The only reason I gave him my business after the way he interacted with me was because I have not found another place in SLO that carries this selection of beer. So, I will be back to Sandy’s but solely because I haven’t found another store that has this much craft beer.

Unlike the other reviews, I kinda like this place. This is a micro brew beer fans wet dream. There are so many different types of specialty beers that you could go on a 6 month binge and never touch a bud light. Sure the people that run this joint are a little seedy, but I am not going to the liquor store for company. I am not really sure why people care about the help at these places. This place is pretty awesome when you are looking for obscure micro brews.

It’s not a deli anymore, and it’s definitely true to it’s liquor store title. Lots and lots of booze, higher prices than grocery stores, and rude clerks. One clerk so rude that I won’t be going in for a while. I think it’s like one of the skills to get hired there. They do have a big selection and a downtown spot, that’s it. This place kinda sucks, bad. PS. Be prepared to be accused of stealing

This is a great place to purchase beer. Beer can be bought by the bottle and they have a huge selection. They have almost no selection of candy or chips. They only sell Hustler and Playboy magazine. So If you need beer, hard liquor and an adult magazines this is a good liquor store. If you need wine and a issue of Bön Appetit this is not the store.
