A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! These girls are truly amazing. I had a destination wedding in Morro Bay and they arrived to the house on time and knocked it out of the park. They did hair and makeup for myself and bridal party. Jen was super awesome to work with and scheduling. Martina did my hair and makeup and took her time and made it perfect. Nicole and Stephanie accompanied her. They were all super nice and wonderful to do business with. I would recommend this salon to ANYONE! I’ll post more pictures when my professional ones come in but here are a few taken from my phone the day of my wedding.

I don’t think 5 stars even cuts it, these girls are great! I’ll start with my quick little back story: so I have hippie long blonde hair, and I usually got the color evened out or highlighted and then a trim every year on my birthday, but my old hairstylist got pregnant and basically retired. I got a recommendation from my mom to get my hair done at her new salon, but when I made my appt I got a little lost (even though I left early for my appt, and called to tell her I was almost there but was lost, not to mention parking in downtown Slo can be hell sometimes), and was 10 minutes late, she said we would have to reschedule because she packs them in, but then I got worried, she had someone booked a half an hour after me, so I was worried that she was going to rush through me, but rescheduled it anyway. It wasn’t until the hairdresser changed the appt on me at the last second, and upon realizing I couldn’t make it, asked her to switch it back to the original rescheduling, but she said in order to do that I would have to pay for two appts. Realizing it wasn’t worth the trouble, i decided to do my own research and that’s when I discovered the holy grail of hair salons! I got Nicole and she was wonderful. I got a little lost again, but made it to the appt on time and they worked with me. I even called and asked for directions when I got lost and they were happy to help. I initially went in for a trim and highlights, but Nicole evened out my hair color and trimmed it up exactly to my liking (my old hairstylist used to hack of inches I didn’t want her to), taught me how to curl with a straightening iron, and was really super cool! plus I love the ambiance and the artwork here. It was made just for me:) I will definitely be coming back and recommending you guys to as many people as possible! You guys rock!

Jen is a terrifically accountable, responsible, and friendly owner. Had a small mishap and she bolted to make things better the day she heard from me. In addition to that, she did a great job coloring my hair! Came in as a dark brown, and left with a pretty dark blonde balayage! Would definitely recommend seeing her. :)

I was condering to come to the saloon, but after reading the owners reply to customer I am not going to… I feel the owners reply was rude and condescending. The customer could be bad mouthing your saloon but the owner didn’t provide a solution to complaining customer.

Martina did my hair and makeup for my wedding and I couldn’t have been happier. She was so great and such a professional.

Great place!. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and offered coffee or water. Everyone there was super friendly. I had my hair done my Stephanie and she was amazing! I wanted something different and definitely got what I was looking for!

I fell in love with Martina’s work over 2 years ago and the atmosphere at Headrush Salon is relaxing and charming Martina always exceeds my expectations. Thank you very much for making my hair look great, girl!

Update to my review the magnificent Kalya has moved to Tigerlilly Salon, I will continue to follow my girl she’s the best. No shade on Headrush :)

The best salon I’ve ever been to! Martina had done wonders with my hair! Everything I’ve wanted done to my hair she did! She fixed my hair from me testing to turn it blonde myself. I’ve sent friends to that salon and I’ve seen that jenn and Stephanie both do amazing jobs!

I’ve been going to Martina for years. I first started going to her at hepkat and followed her to Head Rush. I will never trust anyone else with my hair ever again. She always knows exactly what I want by what I describe or show her and she never dissapoints. We recently just took my box dyed black hair and bleached it four times to get it to grey. And I still have all my hair! She knows exactly what she’s doing and only wants the best for her clients. Go to Head Rush to find your forever hair dresser.

Love this place so much! All of the girls are more than educated in every aspect of their job. I personally have had Jen and Kayla both do my hair. Every time i am very satisfied. Everyone is more than welcoming and friendly. I wouldn’t recommend any other salons in slo now that head rush is there.

Kayla did an amazing job on my hair today! Definitely found my new favorite salon! :)

I’ve been going to Martina for years, and I have followed her to every salon she’s worked at. I can honestly say Head Rush Salon has been my favorite by far. It’s not your typical fancy-​schmancy hair salon with snobby hairdressers, and that’s what I love about it. I highly recommend going there!

Actually, I sent the stylist a picture on the 2^nd day after my service, when I parted my hair on the opposite side and found the bleach mark.
It’s so nice of you to be so interactive! Now your potential paying customers can see what the treatment will be like if anyone messes up their hair. Denial and narcissistic behavior.

The team is amazing. They get it right every time. We went in with a home made try and Jennifer fixed it all. My daughter loves it and so do I.
I am so glad I was able to find Jennifer after a year and a half.
And even better Martina is there too.
If you haven’t been here you are missing out.

I love this salon! Martina did an amazing job, I have long hair & was worried how the highlights would come out from past experiences at different places! She is the BEST! It’s a relaxing salon even my boys were relaxed for a couple hrs! Martina did the job for the amount of color I had on my hair I could of had a lil damage but it was pretty conditioned and greatly toned! ;) will be back!!!

The owner Jen is amazing at color and has always been willing to try any fun crazy color ideas I’ve thrown her way. Her salon is an extension of her awesome personality! A great atmosphere to relax and have fun in. She has always taken time to explain how to best manage my hair. I’ve searched for years trying to find an artist that was willing to bend the limits of their potential and its not till Jen that someone understood how to make my hair not just look nice but look awesome! The other artists are super nice and down to earth as well! You feel like you are hanging out with friends which makes the time fly by. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for quality.

Martina is my girl. She gives me the best Bettie bangs. She takes her time and gets them just perfect and always exactly like I ask. She always remembers little details about my hair each time I go back. For this last cut she put a layer in the back and slight layers in the front to give my long hair a boost. It feels amazing. This morning while getting coffee, the boy at the register told me that I had the greatest bangs!!! She even took the time to teach me how to do victory rolls when I mentioned wanting to do them for my best friend’s wedding a couple years ago. She is so sweet and her hair and makeup is always gorgeous. I’m so glad I tracked her down. This new salon is so cute and cozy. There is parking and I was offered a beverage.

I’ve been going to jen, the owner, since I moved here and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. She is the only one who can cut my bangs right and she is a great colorist too! Went from dark brown to platinum in two sittings which is crazy and my hair is still nice not all broken. :) plus she is friendly and receptive. Love her new salon. Everyone should go here.

This salon is amazing. The owner, Jennifer Herrera, is super creative, talented, and friendly. I’ve been getting my hair done by Jenn for about 6 years. She cuts my hair exactly the way I want it, which no other stylist has been able to master (during the rare occasion that I’ve had to get my hair cut in another town, etc).
As far as color, I constantly am changing from blonde to red to blonde to purple to black to blonde. Not only does Jenn pull rabbits out of hats by taking me from stunning red to platinum blonde etc, she also somehow manages to create the miracle of keeping my hair in good condition, no matter how much I abuse it. (Get the Brazilian Blowout conditioning treatment!).
Also, Jenn is by far the most educated and skilled stylist EVER when it comes to extensions. You know how some chicks looks like they have mullets and the hair doesn’t quite match up? Well, I get extensions often (all different types) and I’ve never had a single person ask me if I have extensions and everyone I tell, they are in shock ’cause they think it’s my real hair.
Finally, Jenn always seems to know my mood, whether I’m tired and wanna read a mag or watch tv during my appointment, or whether I’m chipper and in need of an ear to listen to my crazy stories, or even when I need some boyfriend– she’s got my back. I’d say Jennifer Herrera is like a scientist, an artist, a magician, and a therapist, all in one.
And the salon? The stylists are friendly & talented, the ambiance is fun & unique, it’s conveniently located downtown (but not in the annoyingly busy part of DT), and oh yeah, FREE PARKING right outside the salon. Frickin SOLD!
