I have been a Chico’s fan since the San Luis Store first opened. I love the colorful styles. The clothes fit a more mature woman’s body and are artfully created. The sales staff started out very friendly and helpful. There has been a lot of turnover at the store and at times, not as friendly and helpful. Recently I have seen improvement in the service.

As a passport member of Chicos, I have visited multiple branches of this chain of trendy clothing boutiques. Their chic artful clothing has long appealed to me, even though I am a bit tall for their 0,1,2,3 sizing formula. The patterns and colors are creative and keep up with changing styles. They feature a kind of formula of neutral or colorful basics interspersed with glitzy tops and jackets. Their Traveler line is true to its name, and hard to wrinkle or ruin when on a journey. Their accessories are truly original, and always changing. Perhaps the best part of the store is their marketing strategy, where they mail coupons every month along with a small catalogue. The other genius touch is being able to order merchandise from any store, if your branch doesn’t have the item you want. However, I actually prefer to shop at the Las Vegas store inside Planet Hollywood, where the sales people are up for the colorful fun crowd, as opposed to San Luis, where the sales people wait until you have actually selected merchandise before cracking a smile. Passport members get 5% off merchandise forever, and with my coupons, I certainly know how to work a sale, a talent appreciated by the Potomac, Maryland, Chicos, but sadlly lacking at San Luis Obispo, where they act as if I am trying to claim a lottery prize that I don’t have the numbers for. Perhaps their marketing department needs to explain volume sales to the salepeople to alert them to their clever strategy. with so few options in town for anyone over thirty, Chicos is a welcome addition, but the sales people need to realize it isn’t Bergdorf-Goodman.
