I had been going to The Mutt Hut for quite a while. I worked at a job in San Leandro for 10 years… So it was a tremendous shock when I drove by the week of August 15th…(Starving, because I passed up a Casper’s to eat at the Hut)…And found it closed, as if it had been for quite a while. I am very sorry for the owners, and for everyone that enjoyed eating there… The food was always good AND consistent… And the people behind the counter were always friendly and courteous.

NOWCLOSED — Yes, it’s official, as of 6÷30÷2012 Jeff and Marci Montero have closed their long-term San Leandro hot dog stand The Mutt Hut. While we wish them the best of luck in the future, they did a wonderful job at their stand and they will be missed…

This small Hotdog place in San Leandro was delicious It reminded me of the original Kaspers on Telegraph in Oakland. They had pictures on the wall of the way the area looked years ago… they were very interesting. The hotdogs were simple(like a hotdog should be)…and the price was great. The place was clean and dogs were goood.

The place has friendly service and they did not take a long time to prepare the hot dogs. The hot dogs are ok.

The place is quiet nice and the guy who works there is friendly. So here’s my story I went to this place because a school friend of mine told me about their hot dogs so i went about two years ago. it was spring break and i told my mom Hey can we like go to the mutt hutt place. I was sastified with the service and we bought two hot dogs to go. We went home and ate the hotdogs but they were okay. I mean i wasn’t in love with them. The place is closed early so my suggestion is come at noon. The guy who works there is friendly and has one hand which is cool. The place is local rather support their buisness. Who knows i might be back soon. Just though i’d say come to their buisness and buy good hot dogs

I never thought I’d be full on just one dog, but this one did it. Bought the brat & a bag of chips, and amazingly tasty. I’m not a fan of mustard but it blended with the relish perfectly to give a sweet/bitter taste that really hit the spot. This is the kind of place you take your little league team to after the game. Not much on décor: the food is where it’s at.

On par with most hot dogs I’ve had from Kasper’s and Casper’s. What I like about this place i that it’s local and has been around for what I’ve been told is; forever. I had the jalapeño dog. It was tasty and had the perfect amount of heat. The buns and toppings were fresh. Jalapeños, mustard, onion, and tomatoes. That’s all I need for a good tasting dog. My only complaint are the hours of operation. It’s almost always closed when I drive by.

Mutt Hut has been around the ‘dro for years. finally got a chance to try them out. décor is tiled walls and not much else. menu: dogs of all kinds and weight specs, pedigrees of either chicken or beef,(¼ lb. 4.00beef) all versions miller made except polish sampling: polish dog(3.35) –silva made –bun was filled with red onion, pickles, mustard, etc, dog had a spicy taste with a snap when one bites into it.(ala caspar) almost el perfecto! doggie bag: –seems polish dog bigger than dog at caspars. –service fast, professional, and very helpful.(couldn’t decide which dog to pick. –not a fan of miller dogs –too much fat, not enough flavor. –plenty of street parking.

I totally re-fell in love. I used to go here when I was little with my grandfather, and for some reason, I don’t know why I never went back till yesterday. The same people work there from when I was little. The prices are fair, I actually got full off of a hot dog — which I never thought was possible because I dont think it has ever happened before. WAYBETTERTHENKASPERS. Their people are not as nice nor as family oriented and every time I step into a Kaspers — It just feels sketchy. Now, that I re-fell in love. I will be there more often. :]

When Im in the Mood for” How much for that little doggy in the window”. I seek out a Hot Dog Joint. Mutt Hut filled that bill today. Its a nice clean little Hot Doggy shop in the Heart of San Leandro. They have a great selection of Hot Dogs. The people that work there are friendly and efficient and if you call ahead they will have your order waiting for you. I ordered a Pepper Jack Dog today with everything on it. It was a tasty treat.

My work usually orders from here when they want hot dogs. I’ve never been to the place, so i can’t comment on the building, but when I order it over the phone, the guy that usually takes the order is really nice and friendly. The hot dogs are excellent, just like Kasper’s so they’re a good place to eat if your craving some dogs and there’s no Kasper’s around. Plus this is close by my work, so that’s why we order from here. They have good prices too.

I came here with a few friends the other day, and this place was pretty nice. The workers here were nice, the place was clean, plenty of parking(contrary to what other people have experienced?), and the hot dogs were good. However, the hot dogs were a little normal and average, with nothing really special. And at their prices, I would rather go to Costco to get a larger more filling hot dog.

3 stars for food/value & the friendly workers. With the Entertainment buy one get one free coupon, we got two mutt huts for $ 2.99 and two bbq sauce dogs for $ 3.10. Nice deal. The parking was fine… there’s plenty of(free) street parking available on Castro. The people here are really nice, I want to come back here to support this small business :)

I totally wanted to like this place. The boy and I were cruising around San Leandro looking at apartments when we saw it. I thought it might be a veterinary hospital at first, until I saw the big picture of the weiner dog/hot dog cross-breed abomination. Pasty dogs… No thanks, my dogs and their hot dog bread beds need to be grilled!

Went here once, nothing really to talk about. Good hotdogs at good prices. Nothing that stands out but the little tiny seats are cool to sit at and watch the cars drive by as you eat your hot dog. And the name of the place is nice. 3 Stars for the Mutt Hut

My dad always loves going here so when he took me here to get a chili dog, I was quite impressed! This place is family owned and operated and has been open for many years in San Leandro. The owners are very friendly. Anyways, the food here is also pretty good. The chili dog was delicious and was smothered with chedder cheese and onions. It was big enough for 2 meals. This place is not open very late so get there early for lunch!
