No wonder they are going out of business. However. If u pay cash everything is 50% off till they close but be prepared to be followed around. It’s kinda funny though. Unfortunately, if ur black you get used to being followed around in these asian beauty supply stores. ASKANYSISTA…

This place is terrible. I bought a flat iron from here, per the store clerk’s suggestion and it did not work the way I’d hoped. Unfortunately, once you open a product you cannot return it, even if it’s the same day and you’re completely dissatisfied. That’s terrible customer service. I will be going to Sally’s from now on.

No bueno. So uncomfortable. Granted it was raining outside as well as being later in the evening, maybe around 7pm, but I do not believe that would have made a difference if it was bright as an orange outside. I will give one of the ladies credit for giving me a bag to wrap my umbrella in so I wouldn’t track water into their store, but I don’t think I will ever visit this place again. There were some people in the store when I walked in, maybe two or three, but they weren’t there for that long. Some people also came in a little after I did, but they definitely did not stay long, especially when one of the workers asked if their little boy was a boy or a girl. Can I say awkward? What I can definitely say was awkward was being followed by one of the employees. I’ve never experienced this before in the array of beauty supply stores I have visited, so reading someone recanting their own story on Unilocal verses experiencing it in person is something else. They didn’t have what I was looking for anyway(a dome cap), so I just bought something just to buy something. Their prices are not at all cheaper than anywhere else(actually more so), and the cashier lady was not warm at all. She never once looked at me during our transaction, even when she gave me my change. The atmosphere and them speaking solely in Tagalog until you walk up to the cashier is something I cannot rave or recommend this store anything for. Stick with what you know. I thought it would be nice(since I was in the area) to see what they have, but I will just stay with the stores that I know, where I know I will get a good deal and I won’t be followed around. I forgot to add that they do not accept returns, so you’re fresh out of luck if you are unsatisfied with something. No returns or store credit — they have signs written in marker around the cashier proclaiming so.

I decided to try it this new beauty supply store as it’s in the same strip mall I go to shop for groceries. They actually have an impressive collection of brands including Jane Iredale and NYX Cosmetics and a lot of others that I could only find online. But don’t expect a discount – their prices are close to the MSRP. I liked how this store carries NYX Cosmetics as I couldn’t find it anywhere nearby but I couldn’t get past the vibe of the place and the returns policy. One of the times I went in there, an overly made up girl greeted me in a way that just screamed«I hate this place»: she sighed, put her hands in her front jeans pocket and looked away as she quickly walked by and said«Hi, how are you»(and no, I don’t have a horrible disfigurement). I bought four pieces of NYX makeup, two of which were lip glosses. Unfortunately, after wearing the glosses for just a couple of days, my lips dried out and got swollen and bumpy and I developed a rash around my lips(and no, they were not cold sores, I’ve never had a cold sore in my life). The glosses weren’t even the plumping kind that are *supposed* to tingle. Only after I faithfully applied hydrocortisone and Neosporin to the area did it calm down but I wanted to return the two lip glosses. To my disappointment, on my receipt it reads(verbatim): «STOREPOLICYNORETUNS(sp), NOCASHBACK /ONLY STORECREDITWITHRECEIPT(UNOPENED) /WILL BEACCEPTED, NOMORETHAN /SEVEN DAYSYOU(sp) PURCHASEANYITEM. thank you» …So apparently, you could only get store credit if it was an impulse buy, something you decided you didn’t want right when you got home and something you never opened or used. The lip glosses weren’t expensive but I didn’t want to use them anymore because of the rash they gave me and I know I’ll only throw them away. I really want to support local, small businesses but outfits like this place make you want to run run run to a big, «corporate» store that at least allows returns.
