I just went there yesterday for couple of drinks, bartender was really nice. They have few pool tables there which is good. I will go there again

Just stop by today for my taco fix to see all the kitchen equipment was gone. Apparently the Taqueria portion of the bar is no longer. The bar might be fine but I go there for the tacos at lunch.

The restaurant is only open from 9to 9 mon-sat. Quiet in the morning and the food is excellent! Tons of food and great service and decent prices. I love the tortas and nachos. You can order breakfast as well the lady that runs the restaurant is friendly and a great cook! I used to come at least once a week but since I’m watching my intake i try to make it once in a while.

Cool place! Clean working class bar and Mexican restaurant off the beaten path and literally right next to the railroad tracks. The Mexican restaurant inside is reasonably priced, and they will bring your food to you at the bar when it is ready. Drinks are honest, and honestly priced. Bartender was friendly and– though they are a bit rough around the edges– so are the patrons. I get the feeling that the regulars all grew up in San Leandro and never left.

Not fancy at all, but the good thing is that drinks aren’t too expensive and they 2 pool tables. It doesn’t get too crazy in there either.

This is definitely a dive. The bar is small, and usually crowded/The one and only pool table is right next to the bar. The place sits on the railroad tracks. There is not Hofbrau, its a nasty Mexican type diner. The food was fair, i only went the one time and that was more than enough for me.

Disclaimer: I do know the owners of this place. Having said that, this is pretty much your typical dive bar, except that there’s a taqueria that also shares the space. Its never open when I go, as I’m always there around 9 or 10pm. Would be nice if they were open later. Drinks are very good and well priced. About what you would expect at a bar I guess. They have pool tables, one of those windows media powered jukeboxes, lots of seating, a couple TV’s, and for the gamblers, a scratchers machine and Hot Spot! Best drink only available here: cycle on the lake($ 15), not always available depending on which bartender is working that night.

Franks is an interesting place as there isn’t a Hofbrau but there is a Mexican restaurant located inside. I’m always on a search for a Killer Burrito so I rolled to Franks. I ordered a Carne Asada Super Burrito. It contained Re fried Beans, Rice, Guacamole, Sour Cream and Steak. It was a Monster, But not as big as El Farolito It was pretty Yummy. The restaurant portion closes earlier than the Bar. They also take Discover card. And watch out for the Train LOL.

Hofbrau??? When was this place ever a hofbrau? This is a Mexican restaurant and bar. Anyway, bar is kind of so-so, but the Huevos Rancheros from the restaurant are to die for. So you have to order either a Margarita or Blood Mary to go with it. Either are decent here.

My golf buddy and I were looking for a taqueria after playing 9 at Marina, and I remembered someone saying something about Frank’s by the railroad tracks… well, there it was. So here’s two gals coming in for the first time and we see it’s clean, spacious, and has a pretty decent menu. There are some locals hoisting a few beers over at the bar, some guys playing on one of the two pool tables(not often you see two pool tables in a bar), and the flat screens were tuned in to sports. Okay, pretty cool. We decided what we wanted, my buddy having the chicken mole platter and I decided on the steak burrito grande. We settled into one of the fairly comfortable booths with our soft drinks in hand and it wasn’t long before the very pleasantly nice woman who took our order at the counter actually brought our meals to us at our table, which was really sweet. We would have gotten up if she’d called us to come get it, which is what we expected, but that was good service. She also brought us extra napkins and some chili peppers and extra sauce. Although I wouldn’t say the food was exceptional cuisine, it was definitely worth the price paid(at least my burrito was pretty good), and I can say that I’ll definitely stop here again after we finish a round of golf, even if we don’t have a round of drinks because we each drove our cars. Thanks, Frank’s… cool little neighborhood dive you have there. We’ll be back some time. Regards, K.C.

Frank’s Saloon is a local dive bar. The kind that you find on the wrong side of the train tracks. Literally. It’s right next to a train track! The few times I’ve come here, I’ve always had an interesting time. Some of the regulars got all swol and wanted to brawl over us shooting stick at the pool table. The last I checked, you can’t reserve a table that is operated on a buck worth of quarters. On Fridays, this place used to host a lingerie show and raffle. I don’t have much positive to say about that, other than I admire their entrepreneurial spirit. The bartenders pour stiff drinks with a smile. The ambiance is typical dive bar. Not a place to take a date, unless you are both alcoholics.

I like this place. I’ve lived in San Leandro for 12 years and never gave this place a shot because I thought SL had nothing to offer when it came to the bar/night life scene. that and the fact it was right next to the railroad tracks. A couple of friends and I came in on a Tuesdays night just for the hell of it. When we went in it was an older lady bartending, 3 local patrons, and on the big screens the A’s/Redsox where tied 5 – 5 bottom of the 10th. I had the first round of drinks with 3 jack and cokes with a Heff for 23.50. We played a couple games of pool which was fun but we had a lot more fun playing 4 players buzzed on the dart board game. This place is pretty spacious with the Mexican restaurant and dance floor there but unfortunately the area was closed off when we went. We’re definitely gonna check out the taqueria next time though. They have an internet jukebox for 50 cents a song with the latest albums/songs so that is def a plus for me… first time I’ve heard Phil Collins/Joe Budden’s — «In the Air». The bartender and a patron told us to come in on a Friday when its more happening because they have a lingerie show at 7:30pm. They said it gets pretty packed but I’m willing to check out the show atleast once even though I’m fine with just chilling there during a regular week night. All in all we had a great time there just drinking, shooting pool/darts, and watching my A’s win a close one in the bottom of the 12th6 – 5!!! After 4 rounds of jack and coke and a high five for the win from the bartender we high tailed it outta there.

I have been here a few times and always enjoy myself. It is definitely a good dive bar. I wouldn’t take a date here, but a great place to chill with friends and co workers. The drinks are fairly cheap, and the bartenders are really cool. They have a dart board, pool tables, and a juke box with good music. The place has a dance floor, but I have never been there when they actually played music, besides what people pay to play.

When I worked at Horatios down the street in college, this was our watering hole after we would get our shifts. It’s a multi-use building, as they have an apartment, bar and taqueria all at once. Got to hand it to them for maximization of their given land. When here, it was usually nothing but good times. It is a very spacious bar and boasts Darts, Pool and Video Games. Most Bartenders I had were always quite friendly and would hook our crew. They poured cheap quality drinks. I will forever remember all the good times that will be forever in that forlorn building by the tracks.

i got good vibes drinking this lager from germany in a tall drinking mug?(4.75). german beers by law use no chemicals. it was a clean and mild body drink but not my type. probably good with pizza and spicy food. bartender was professional and friendly, there’s a taqueria sharing the same space. breakfast burritos(4.95) regular burritos(4.99). cons: the train! train!

This place is a lot nicer inside than I would have expected. I live right around the corner from this place, which is nice. The bartenders have always been nice to me and my boyfriend, and they always make great drinks at reasonable prices! some nights you can also get free appetizers. I have not eaten at the Mexican restaurant in here yet… They have 2 pool tables, a jukebox and some TVs… pretty cool local bar within stumbling distance from my house… just don’t let the train scare you when it comes by!
