4 ½ stars. Great, fresh food. Fun family friendly atmosphere. Great waiter and attentive service(Jerrad). I would give Vito’s five stars if the kitchen was more consistent. We have been here several times and have had spotty attention from the kitchen(long wait time and misplaced orders). Management was excellent in handling our concerns. That aside, we keep coming back.

Changed name 7÷25÷13. Same owner, new name. Vito’s had gone downhill. Maybe«Fianos» will do better.

It was a decent place. The atmosphere was really nice. We had the burratta which was amazing and the calamari was good. But I didn’t like the veal parm I have to admit I’m very picky when it comes to Italian especially coming from NY. I had to take the breading off of it to finish it the sauce was very tasty…

We had a group here and we decided to share a pizza and a few entrees The pizza had a super thin crust, not really to my liking but everybody else liked it. I tried the cheese ravioli and the lasagna which were both really good. The bread they brought to the table was a crispy Italian with a super yummy garlic butter on the side. We sat out on the patio on a cool evening and we could hear the garage band from the Swallows Inn across the street pumpin’ out ’70’s rock. I saw quite a few oldsters coming out of there, half bombed and then getting into their cars and driving off. If you sit on the patio you also get a view of the swallows flying round in circles, swooping in low, landing and then taking off again. If you can, grab a seat on the patio, it’s worth it to see the birds. Our server was friendly, it a tad slow on the drink refills. We were told that the restaurant won’t be Vito’s soon, they are changing the name and the food. I might return after they change their name to sample the menu.

Vito’s has a great happy hour from 2 – 7! My friend and I wandered in here for a quick bite one relaxing afternoon. The restaurant was fairly empty since we went at an odd time, but this meant some awesome service for us! We ordered some drinks, and Freddy, our bartender/server promised to make me the best mojito ever. It wasn’t as fruity as I normally like, but it was definitely strong, which I appreciated! We also had a few appetizers, including fried calamari, boneless chicken wings, and tuna tartare. They were all tasty, and we liked that the chicken wings were all consistent and not overly breaded. The happy hour prices aren’t the cheapest, but they do have a check-in deal on Unilocal,so make sure to check it out! Overall, we had a great time here and enjoyed both the service and the food. Freddy really took care of us! :)

Great upscale, yet casual atmosphere and they had the best Meatball sandwich I’ve ever had. What really impressed me was the service, our waiter(Freddy I think) was perfect. Great personality, fast service, and(the best part) my drink was never empty. Definitely check this place out.

The menu is $$ but you pay for great food in a killer location in the Mission District, close to the Regency. Clean bright restaurant, clean Italian food. There is a great vibe about this place and it would be hard to beat a meal here amidst the buzz of SJC. Fantastic date spot/nice weekend lunch with the family. Ice cold Peroni. Eggplant Parm rocks. Pasta is light. Perfect portions — you don’t feel weighed down after the meal. Ok one more thing about the Eggplant Parm: I’m sure I’ve had at least three dreams about theirs since going to Vito’s.

Came here for the first time for date night with the hub last weekend. The service was fast and friendly and I enjoyed my vegetarian calzone. My husband had the tortellini with sunshine sauce(a tomato cream sauce) and thought it was good but not great. I wouldn’t say it was my favorite Italian place in the area, but it was good and I will definitely be back to try more items. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could, just couldn’t quite justify a 4. One knock I had was that the open design of the main dining area makes for quite a loud atmosphere when it gets filled up. We had a large party next to us and it was hard to concentrate on our conversation. Overall, we had a good experience and I hope this restaurant does well. It’s nice to see the downtown area getting a facelift.

We love this place. My mom and I come here about once a month and always have a great time. It’s located right next to the Regency theaters where we always catch a movie right after. The find the is always hot, fresh and tasty Staff is decent and prompt And the ambiance is always pleasurable. We definitely recommend Vitto’s if you find yourself looking for a small, intimate Italian location.

The good: My halibut was phenomenal. Loved the burrata, tomato, and fig appetizer. My friend’s steak was great. Service was excellent from a girl named Edrine(?). The bad: The hostess stand was a hot mess, manned by three people who were all in various states of confusion. My friend’s salmon was dry and not good.

Kitchen must be in another county. Food mediocre. It took 15 minutes to get order in, 30 minutes to get food. Three stars(instead of one) only because they knew I was angry and gave us a $ 20.00 coupon. That showed some PR sense if not good restauranting!

Vito s ROCKS! Especially for happy hour(every day 2 – 7 and they have reverse happy hour 9-close on some nights). The happy hour menu has enough variety for even the pickiest eater, and the drink selection is well priced and well balanced. They also have an excellent beer from Left Coast Brewery in SC called Voodoo. It’s outstanding, to say the least. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive(Steve is the MAN-ladies, you know what I mean!) I do need to say something about the pizza-the crust is thin and crisp, the sauces are all equally good, the toppings are fresh and there are tons to choose from. We love the margarita, but you can make your own creation as well(and they have gluten free crust-score!) And, for you steak lovers, you cannot go wrong with the filet on polenta. Its seriously TDF.

Decided to try Vito’s after a movie yesterday. Our waiter was very awkward – like a fish out of water. I ordered the braised short ribs, but was informed that they were out of them. I asked the waiter what he recommended, and he asked me if I liked seafood. When Ibgave him an enthusiastic«YES», he suggested the veal piccata or veal parmesan. I giggled and told him that veal is not seafood, to which he gave me a quizzical look! My husband’s wine did not arrive until mid-meal. The eggplant parmesan was mediocre at best. Scallops were good but risotto was unnecessarily watery and somewhat flavorless.

Fantastic friendly service! The beet trio salad with red and yellow beets, goat cheese, arugula, edamame, etc was light and refreshing. my favorite! We also ordered the penne alla mascarpone with prosciutto, peas in a marscapone cream sauce. Delish! The vegetarian pizza with a thin crust brought me back to my NYC roots! Definitely coming again and again

At first glance, this place is very classy and clean through and through. All of the staff is polite and curtious and helpful. They pay attention to you and refill your glass cups or give more bread if needed or if they see you want more. The pizza here is their specialty. The crust is thin and crisp and the ingredients are fresh. Try the Deluxe Pizza! Overall, my experience here was pleasent and i had no complaints about it whatsoever. The food quality combined with the atmosphere feels as if you’re eating high class. I’d love to come back when im down here once again.

We stopped here after exploring Mission San Juan Capistrano. The interior was very nice… and there seems to be a full bar inside, but we opted to sit outside cause the weather was gorgeous. When we sat, happy hour pricing just started so we opted for two starters, the fried calamari and the stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were amazing, they were light and the meatball stuffing was not overbearing. The flavors went together very well. The calamari was good but very average. We opted to order a buffalo chicken pizza and a classic calzone. The calzone was awesome. It was a good size and stuffed full of ground beef, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and mushrooms. We split this four ways and probably would have licked the plate clean if our waiter wasn’t so attentive. The pizza… not so much. It was very salty and the cheese congealed so quickly that the pizza was hard to eat. We ended up taking this as leftovers but just threw them out the next day cause no one wanted to eat it. We ordered a cannoli for dessert. It was decently sized, filled with traditional cannoli cream with a hint of cinnamon and dipped in chocolate on one side and crushed pistachios on the other. On the whole though, it was bland and the pastry was way too thick. Basically, Vito’s is full of hits and misses. Aside from it being out of the way, I probably won’t be coming back unless everything else in Capistrano is closed or out of my budget.

Not very good. We wanted a late night dinner after a concert, and read the mixed reviews, but thought we’d give the place a try. The interior is very nice, buts that’s about all I can say that is positive. My thin crust pizza tasted like a doctored up Weight Watch*rs frozen pizza. Chicago style thin crust? I should say not. Having grown up in the Chicago area, I know better. My wife had the waiters recommendation of chicken cannelloni, at best it tasted like a Stouffer’s frozen entrée. Those dishes, with a single glass of average wine each, ran about $ 60. Not good food, or a good value. Sorry to have to write a negative review, we have never yet been steered wrong by Unilocal reviews, but I cannot believe the strong reviews this place has received…

I am giving Vito’s 2 stars for one huge problem: service or lack thereof. The restaurant is beautiful inside and I love the Franciscan Plaza(I have been a regular since 1989⁄1990). My daughter and I arrived before my sister and her girls and while we waited the 5 or so minutes for them to arrive we were never approached for a drink order. When my sister sat down it took another few minutes before our waiter came to see if we wanted anything. It was pretty much water all around with one cab for my sis and a lemonade for my daughter. He brought the water for 3 of us, the cab for my sis and my daughter’s lemonade but entirely left those last two out of the water front. Mmmk.(My sister had specifically ALSO ordered water even though she ordered wine.) We ordered 2 salmon piccata’s, one chix piccata, an individual margherita pizza and a kids mac and cheese. My sister and I both started with the minstrone– which took way too long to get to the table. We both had an odd piece of sausage in our soup– which was fine but minestrone is typically vegetarian, right? In any case, it caught us both off guard. Oh, and it was luke warm at best. After another very long period of time our meals arrived. However, meanwhile, we had allll run out of water. But our waiter was nowhere to be found. I ended up asking my daughter to simply walk over to the station on the other end of the dining room and grabbing the pitcher I saw with water in it. In fact, my water needed a refill when the minestrone came out and I was sure he saw it because he asked if we wanted any more bread? If he noticed an empty bread basket, he would notice 4 empty water glasses, correct? Apparently not. You can flip thru the pics to see my daughter pouring us all water– yes she looks happy because it was FUNNY that it had to happen. When our food finally came we were all clearly running low on water again(we had a lot to talk about… flapping gums= dried out mouths, ok?) but did that prompt our waiter? Hell no! We made do with what we had left. Honest to goodness, y’all– our waiter NEVER refilled our water glasses. The food sat so long the butter had separated and pooled under the pasta… mmmm, yummy. =/My fish was dried out and flavorless. The pasta was fresh, not from a box, IMO and once I tossed it with the pooled butter I enjoyed it, though it could have had less butter, more acid. And the onions(yes, those are ONIONS in the pic) on top? Aren’t those supposed to be in the base of the sauce, not thrown on top steamed up a bit? Thankfully I’m an onion fan but they should have been cooked more. Our server ‘forgot’ our veggies but brought them out served in little dishes– basically steamed broc, onions and squash seasoned but not hot. The margherita pizza looked like a cheese pizza with some basil in the mix, but my niece enjoyed it enough she ate the entire thing. If it had been myself and my girls I would have asked for a manager and sent our fish back. But I was with my sister who finds that behavior degrading(how I have no idea, but I digress). I just flaked the dry, almost cold fish apart and drowned it in the butter before I ate. I know the managers take the time to read these so I just hope you all can improve that service a LOT. I’m sure we will return because we are the types to give places more than one chance and to be honest? The food, even with all the coldness and ‘forgotten’ vegetables, was still a decent meal and the temp of the food comes down to the time it sits waiting for the server to take it to the table. But having to seek and find water then pour it ourselves for $ 120 when all is said and done? REALLY doesn’t leave a good feeling for us. I mean, seriously, there is NO excuse for that. I also will insist on sitting in a different area as where we were seated must have butted the kitchen where we heard a LOT of pounding and oddities going on behind our wall. I can see why this place gets such mixed reviews– there is no consistency it seems. Get that down and this establishment will be a real benefit to SJC.
