Although this is in the sketchy area of San Jose, it isn’t too dangerous lol. Just be wary of your belongings and scammers in the area. I honestly only go here for tofu and for the tofu dessert! The prices were definitely increased but the quality of the tofu remains the same. You most likely won’t see it out in the open but you have to ask the workers about the silken tofu with ginger sauce. It’s super fresh and it’s to die for. If you don’t want just tofu, it’s like a Lee Sandwiches but more authentic. There’s to go foods on the table, different types of Vietnamese dessert(Che) and different types of sweet, colorful glutinous rice! I’ve only been here for the tofu but one day I’ll try the xoi!

I go here for the taho only the taho. Don’t speak Vietnamese or is it Thai. But I somehow communicate that I want 1 or 2 of that(pointing to the taho pot) I am able to practice my non verbal communication skills here for sure .Love their taho with ginger sugar!!! 5 stars. Hope they keep their prices pretty much aligned with their location and ambience. Dive store but great place to buy taho ! For the price it’s great !!

Any time someone goes to SJ — they have to bring back tofu for my family. My mom requested that I buy her 25& my uncle bought 30. Its a pretty small location that doesn’t offer much but I mean, they’re known for their sweet tofu. Its pretty darn good. I heard prices went up so now its $ 1.50.

Cash only. My mom and I came here to buy some food. The parking lot was tiny, but we found parking luckily. There were bunch of people here buying food after 12pm. The place was really small and had a lot of food in the center of the place. We bought some Banh Cuon Thit($ 4.25 per pound), Banh Uot($ 3.75 per pound), and some plain tofu($ 1 for pieces). I thought it was good for the price. The food was good and I would come back in the future for some more Banh Cuon Thit.

I come here just for the fresh che. There’s lots of other food like sandwiches and whatever else they make daily. I can’t drink any other banh lot unless it’s from this joint.

Hands down the best tofu, soy milk and coconut cream that I have ever tried. Tofu was made in small batch so it is so fresh. There are small cubed plain tofu($ 1/5pc), tofu with onion+mushroom($¼pc) and ~2×4″ plain tofu for $ 2/ea. Tofu is soft, not crispy, but tasted really good. Soy milk is delicious. A good assortment of Chè(gruel?). Chè is good especially the phenomenal coconut cream that comes with it($ 1.75/ea). They also offer a variety of deli plates, sticky rice, puddings, Vietnamese pork rolls. Cons: no disposable food box for hot tofu, instead a thin plastic bag is used. It is not ideal imo!

the people here are really friendly. i went here recently for the first time and wasn’t sure about what to get. the lady working there let me try a little bit of a few things before i ordered anything. there were a couple of things that i didn’t like, but i ended up being pretty happy with the coconut jello, the pork crispy rice, and the soy milk so i got a couple of each of those. the place is pretty easy to find. it’s located in a small plaza. parking wasn’t too bad because i parked in the ten min parking spot and went in the middle of the day, but i can see how it’d be difficult if it were a little crowded and at a busier time. would come back here to pick up some treats, but they are a little pricey compared to other places.

So unassuming in this strip mall. They have a variety of Vietnamese snacks and desserts. I was going to a house warming and got a few containers of sticky rice with yellow mung bean and crispy onions. Solid. Will have to hit up the dessert action the next time Im in the area

Thanh Son Tofu has lots of prepared snacks, fried tofu(4/$ 1) — doesn’t hold up long, taste wise, food on the steam table, ingredients for liquid drinks on steam table. –none of steam items priced/labeled, so passed. eats: fried rice rolls with meat? filling(5/$ 1) –nice, crunchy, tasty, take outs: –not willing to buy premade food since wasn’t going to eat it right away. had previous bad experience, not at tofu place.

The kiddo in me just LOVES coming here. I remember coming here as a kid and picking up an assortment of yumminess to enjoy and it brings me back every time. Fresh tofu, fresh soy milk, and an abundance of sweet and savory viet items that are good to grab and go. We used to come by here on weekends before going on a long drive so we could avoid stopping at one of those dreadful fast food stops… sooo much better. There’s a private lot but it’s pretty darn full almost all hours of the day. Fortunately, there is some movement so you just have to get lucky. Mornings seem to be easiest though. The only down-ish side is, when it does happen to be busy, people just start crowding around the counters to get their orders in and it’s a bit chaotic for my liking. Again, I just try to go early to avoid.

I’ve been coming here ever since I was a little kid. They are still the best place in the Bay Area to get silken tofu with ginger syrup! The tofu is so silky and soft and it’s always hot and ready in a gigantic pot ready to be served. ^///////^ the ladies who work there I’ve seen since forever and they are always so sweet and accommodating. Only reason I don’t give this place 5 stars is because lines are almost nonexistent. People kinda just bunch around the counter and ppl just kinda weasel their way in from the back to the front. But in the end it’s totally worth it.

I go here for all my tofu needs. I love their homemade soy milk especially the pandan flavored own. They also have good Che and desserts and a good assortment of pre-packed dishes. I also love their silken tofu dessert with the sweet ginger sauce. It’s pretty cheap for a large size too. I think it’s like 3 or 5 bucks for a large. Parking sucks though :/small parking spaces and usually crowded.

Have been coming here for a long time. There used to be squatters that hang out in front of the tofu shop; thus with the small plot of grass that’s squarely fenced off. The tofu here is made fresh daily and they have a wide range of tofu-soy products to choose from such as fresh tofu, fried tofu, flavored and spicy tofu, soy milk, even silken tofu desserts Price is also reasonable hence with the massive crowd at all hours. In addition to the soy products, they also have a range of sweets to choose from. Since I don’t know what the individual desserts are called, I would either point to the different kinds or point to someone before me who had ordered the sweets. I can see that being able to speak Vietnamese has definite advantage shopping here. At times it’s hard to get the attention of the food servers behind the counter when there is a bunch of people trying to order and are talking over me. Nevertheless, most of the patrons are friendly and helpful and will help to translate.

Food: Delicious, fresh, soft tofu dessert Service: Friendly Price: Inexpensive Found this place after eating at my favorite Vietnamese broken rice plate place(Com Tam Thien Huong) a few doors down. I bought 4 pieces of fried lemongrass-chili tofu(4 pieces for $ 1!) and a large soft tofu + sweet ginger syrup dessert. Just had the tofu and am in LOVE. So fresh, soft, airy, delightful. Could eat it for every meal. Only $ 3 for a large. Definitely rivals the tofu made by chinese tofu shops! Their che(sweet dessert drinks) looked yummy as well, so will try next time. Plan to stir fry the fried tofu tomorrow so will report back on that.

Thanh Son Tofu is tucked away to the right corner of the pink plaza on Senter. Filled with sweet rice(all kinds of colors with different ingredients and sugar and sesame toppings), fresh soy milk, fresh tofu, che, and a lot of other vietnamese goodies! The last time I’ve been here was with my mom and it’s been quite a while! Their che’s(sweet desserts) are good. They give you extra ice wrapped separately and aren’t stingy on ice like a lot of other asian places(c’mon it’s just ice!) My favorite is the Suong Sa Hot Luu. I don’t know the English name but order it! They also have the thai che that’s good. As far as the tofu, the fried ones are all left out to the right of where you walk in. I prefer them freshly fried like the other tofu places. I prefer the soft tofu here. I believe you can ask for a big block at the register. Their hot soft tofu with ginger syrup is delicious!

If you’re looking for a place that sells fresh tofu, this is the best place to go. You can buy a huge block of tofu for about $ 1.25. You can also buy fresh fried tofu for cheap too. The tofu comes in plain, with onions, or with lemongrass. They also sell a lot of other things too. You can buy che desserts, smoothies, premade Vietnamese meals in trays, as well as others. One of the best items at this place is soft tofu with a sweet ginger syrup. It’s very refreshing and perfect for a dessert or a relatively healthy snack. They do run out towards the end of the day so it’s important to go earlier. They’re also closed on Wednesdays.

As a big fan of the Japanese San Jose tofu, I was eager to try the tofu here at the Vietnamese run Thanh Son Tofu. The premise is essentially the same: super fresh tofu served in a variety of ways. I bought a soft tofu($ 1.75 each small block) and a deep fried tofu($ 1.75 per block). The consistency is a bit firmer than San Jose tofu, but it comes out nice and warm so you know just how freshly made it is. With such fresh tofu, it’s a wonder anyone buys the store bought stuff, but both fresh tofu places are a bit of a drive for me. They also serve a variety of deli plates(I picked up one) and are known for their desserts. I ordered a che ba(a sweet with condensed milk and rice flour drink). It was not too sweet and nicely priced to. Prices here are fantastic. I paid $ 10 for 4 items. Cash only.
