Bomb. If you’re craving Indian and you’re around the bay area, this is definitely the place to hit up. Alot of people say that they have a very limited selection, but I think it’s just right. You’ve got your curries, your meats, your sides, your salads, your dessert, ANDNAAN. Man that Naan is delish. Usually come here with around 4 – 5 buds and the second that Naan basket hits our table, it’s demolished. Been here many times with my buddies whenever we’re in the mood for Indian or we just have the munchies. Best place to come for an affordable all you can eat buffet! We usually leave like a dollar tip from each of us(like 5 bucks total), which will set you back about 10 bucks if you’re going in a moderate party size. Plus, their service is excellent. *Only down part is I used to come here 3 years ago when they had the 5.99 lunch buffet. Sadly, the price has been bumped up to 8.99, but hey! You gotta do what you gotta do to survive.

We had great food here. I’ve read some of the other reviews and I’m not sure when this place changed hands but it’s definitely under new ownership. there is a 10% discount for checking in on Unilocal, when we presented it to the cashier he said they don’t honor it as it was from the previous owner. So don’t go in expecting that. Somebody else said they ordered take out off the«menu». What menu? As far as I know this place only does buffet. We weren’t offered any menus. We went on a Saturday night for dinner, the food was great. Plenty of options at the buffet, tandoori chicken, chicken tiki masala, naan, salad, rice, etc. We brought our 3 y/o. They charged $ 4.99 for him and $ 7.99/ea for my wife and I. Very reasonable and tasty. Will definitely go back.

Went in today for dinner buffet with the wife and kids on fathers day. For $ 8.99 per person, there is a nice vegetarian selection. The waiter was good, keeping our water glasses full. Parking was good on a Sunday evening around 7pm. The restaurant lacks ambience, the clear glass windows let you stare into the other stores. They were playing some hindi dvd(Shakalaka) which got stuck on the menu after playing a few songs. Recommend, you start with appetizers like samosa’s, pakora and pupperh with chutney(mint and sweet). This gives the waiter time to bring out your fresh buttered naan. Followed by the main course, rice, maha de dahl, mixed subzi, chana masala and saag with raita. Just taking off one star, as the naan refresh took forever, and they only brought one cut in to four squares and then the family wanted more, which took longer. The deserts were nice, gulaab jaman and kheer(rice pudding). Nice evening out. 4 stars

I’ve been here many times, through several ownerships — I hope it has stabilized now. I’ve only had the buffet here. There’s a good variety, and the quality is consistent. The curry chicken is predictable, meaning I always get what I expect. The rice is always moist and also consistently prepared. The buffet is also reasonably priced. Inside is colorfully and creatively decorated. The service is attentive — my water glass is always full. It’s easy to be ignored at a buffet, but not here. In addition, I usually see several Indian customers. I mention this as a compliment to the restaurant and their quality/authentic food.

AYCE Indian Dinner Buffet $ 8.95!!! We didn’t want to cook so I turn to my handy Android Unilocal App for help. I was craving some good ol’ Indian Food. I had narrowed it down to three choices but only Taj Palace had a buffet. Sold! For some reason, I am always happier when I go the buffet route for Indian Food. The location is kind of hidden and quite frankly not in a good location. In a shopping center that is in desperate need of a remodel. When we walked up the place was pretty much empty. We thought, oh oh, no good. Boy, were we wrong. The selection was pretty good for the price and hot naan was on our table before we sat down with our buffet selections. My only complaint(no biggie) about the buffet would be the lack of names of the selections. I’m no Indian food pro and though kind of daring with food, It’s nice to know what the dish is. Standout was easily the butter chicken, OMG, lick lick delish! Followed by the hot, crunchy, spicy Samosa. Maybe we lucked out but the buffet was freshly stocked so we had first dibs on everything. It also helped that the place was empty. The dessert section was small but I was already too stuffed. I did try some kind of rice pudding and really enjoyed the small rice they use. The gal at the front was friendly and refilled our waters. I even got 10% off the bill for checking in on Unilocal! If this place fails, I would say it’s due to its location. Is this the best Indian food ever? No, but it’s delicious, cheap and I know we will be back so I hope they stick around.

A cute little restaurant right next to Pet Club. We had lunch buffet $ 7.99 each, which has a variety of selections and so far this is the only Indian Restaurant we didn’t crave for water afterwards, no or little MSG in their dishes. Salad — lettuce & tomatoes Butter Chicken — yum yum Tandoori Chicken — bland Curry Chicken — ok, nothing exciting Lamb — yum yum Rice — yum yum Fresh Naan — yum yum Samosa — spicy Spinach with indian cheese — ok Curry Vegetable — carrot, potatoes, indian cheese Tikki Indian Cheese — yum yum Rice Pudding — yum yum Canned Pineapple Sweet Flour Ball — toooo sweet The lady is attentive with bringing us fresh naan and refilling our water. The only complaint we have is the chef came out for lunch at 1:30pm and ate all the lamb dish without refilling it, thus you might want to come early if you like their lamb dish.

This place is great. The buffet selection is just right. Food is delicious and you definitely can’t beat the $ 8.99 dinner buffet price. You can even do a «Take out» They give you your standard to-go box and a plastic cup. Full it up to your hearts content! Also comes with Naan! Just did the take out tonight and I have so much leftovers I can munch on for lunch tomorrow!

Everytime I come here, it seems like the price has changed and they have different owners. Last time I came here for dinner and the buffet was $ 9.99 which wasn’t bad at all. The service was fast and they constantly brought out naan which was nice. However, they seem to really skimp out on meat. The chicken tikka masala literally was all sauce and barely any chicken. Same with the goat curry. The only true meat dish was the tandoori chicken. And they literally brought out 10 drumsticks for a room full of customers. the food itself wasn’t horrible, but definitley nowhere near the standard i have for indian food. I remember taj palace a couple years back as the small neighborhood restaurant. but nowadays i have to be pretty desperate for indian food and lazy to drive to eat here. for $ 10, i rather drive or pay a little bit more for better food.

I’ve been to the dinner buffet a few times in the past week. The naan here is SOOOGOOD. It’s fluffy and crispy at the same time. The food items are okay. From what I can remember, both times they had Navratan Korma, Paneer Saag, Goat curry, rice pudding, salad, fruit(mediocre), vegetable samosas, Chana Masala, Butter Chicken, Spicy Chicken Curry, a lentil soup, and some other things. The saag was a little salty for my taste, but not bad. I really liked the navratan korma, butter chicken, and goat curry. They have Bollywood movies playing on their large flat screen tv on the wall. Sometimes they’re in English, sometimes they have subtitles. This is my go to place for a cheap Indian dinner buffet in South San Jose.

Warning: This review is intended for(im)mature audiences only. This morning, I woke up and looked over at La Novia. She could tell something was wrong with me as I was laying down, hand on my stomach, and grimacing in pain. La Novia: What’s wrong, bebe? Archie: Nothing. La Novia: No. I can tell something is wrong. It’s written all over your face. Archie(looking away): It’s my hair. My bangs, actually. I slept on them wrong, sweat a little, and now they are out of place. I need to do my hair all over again now. La Novia: No. They look fine. I know you. Tell me what’s wrong. Archie: Okay. But you won’t judge me, right? La Novia: You know I won’t. Just tell me what’s wrong. Archie: Well, I think I need an exorcism. La Novia: Huh? Why? Archie(with his brown eyes bulging): Because I have something inside me… La Novia(with a worried look on her face): What is it? Archie: Demons. I got demons and they are attacking me. They need to get out! La Novia(with her green eyes bulging): What? Archie(holding his stomach): It hurts! I got demons! It hurts so much! I can’t take it! La Novia: What can I do?! How can I help you?! Archie: Get out of my way. I got demons! And with that, I ran to the bathroom and took the fattest dump of my entire life(courtesy of Taj Palace). Last night, I stopped by here hoping to indulge in some quality Indian food. Unfortunately, I was surprised to see a whole new staff, menu, and décor here. Since I was already inside, I went ahead tried the dinner buffet. It was awful. Apparently, the new owners have reverted this place back to the low price, low quality style of Indian restaurant. Gone are the short lived days of high quality ingredients fused together to make amazing Indian cuisine. Now we have dishes full of oil, cream, nuts, and more oil. The butter chicken was mostly oil, butter, and cream. There were no cubes of chicken, but I think there was some shredded chicken in there somewhere. The curry chicken was a big lukewarm vat of oil. The naan wasn’t crispy and very undercooked. Gross. Taj Palace? Yeah, more like Taj Outhouse. Basura!

Huh, even though there’s currently an official announcement here on this Unilocal page that their lunch buffet is $ 6.99(and the van in the parking lot had a sign advertising it for $ 5.99, actually!), I was charged $ 7.99 today for my lunch(I only had water to drink), plus tax. Very confusing and misleading. The food was ok — the best thing was the freshly-made garlic naan. There just wasn’t a lot of selection and overall, the food was pretty mediocre. Butter chicken was very rich. Would’ve loved some paneer though. The price difference really annoys me and knocks a star off my review here.

This place just changed owners again. We wanted to have Indian food and this was the closest place to the house. It was a cold, stormy night and most people apparently were smart and stayed in. We wanted to get take-out, but were intrigued by the buffet(because it was ready & fast and we were cold & hungry). The staff gave us to go containers and let us have at it at the buffet. I liked the fresh nan that they gave us an the butter chicken. The Tiki Masala was good as well, but the third option was ALL sorts of wrong. It was labeled as a famous Indian dish I recognized, but wouldn’t have been able to tell what it was without the sign. Most of the items were good enough and we will go again if we need close by, but stick to certain items. We probably should order off the menu next time. I am not a huge fan of the buffet as a concept. Prices are SUPER cheap.

A craving for indian food led me here after a quick search using Unilocal while I was in the area. The food itself was ok and nothing extraordinary. I’ve certainly had better food elsewhere, but for the price… it was certainly good. The lunch buffet is only $ 6.99 afterall. The service was good, and the selection of food was ok as well. It’s getting 4 stars from me mostly due to the value of the meal itself. The food isn’t special and über great as I mentioned, but it’s a cheap place to get lunch.

Great customer service here! I’ve only been here for dishes off the menu and not the buffet… for a while they had a great deal on so we gave it a try. Kind of hard to find but look for the PetClub /CVS shopping center behind McDonalds along Snell and Blossom Hill. It’s tucked in. Really good food though… my favorite is their aloo gobi. The cauliflower and potatoes were tasty. Just the right amount of saltiness too. The butter chicken was creamy and fully of flavor. Dipping the garlic naan in there was like heaven. Give it a try if you’re in the area…

2.5 stars. I came here with a group of people around 9pm on a Saturday night; we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had the dinner buffet($ 10.95). While the taste of most of the dishes was pretty decent, many of them were cold(probably because they had been sitting out all day). The naan was freshly made though. I wouldn’t recommend this place for Indian buffet, as there are plenty of better places in the Bay. –L.

So yesterday my boyfriend & I were talking about getting Indian food since he was really wanting some naan & curry & the first place that popped into my head was Taj Palace, not only do they serve Indian food, but they’re also a buffet! Plus I had a pretty decent experience last time. However, this time I wasn’t as satisfied as I was the first time. They had ran out of the lamb(which was one of the things that I really liked that they served here), & the lady working there(Linda) told us that it would be coming out real soon; I was there for 30 – 45 minutes… It never came out so we paid & left. I also noticed something that was different, instead of getting the naan out hot and fresh(individually on plates) it was already apart of the buffet. By the time my boyfriend & I had gotten there, the naan was kind of rubbery and cold. :[ Also, the vegetable(lettuce & cucumber) seemed a little old as well. This was kind of a sad experience because I wanted my boyfriend to have that good experience that I had the first time I came. Other than that, if I could, I would give this a 2.5 star, but since the prices are right, I’ll stick with a 3 star. For now, I’m not sure if I will be back anytime soon. Maybe I can try the pizza next time instead.

I went in for lunch expecting a pretty average Indian Buffet… my expectations were met. There was one dish that I thought was pretty darn good, the sweet potato masala, but everything else, eh, it was ok. Lentils, green beans, spinach with garbanzos, and mixed vegetables — the veggies were the same mix I’ve seen at other places(crinkle-cut carrots, small cuts of broccoli and cauliflower, beans) and I think they were prepackaged and/or frozen — although for AYCE for $ 4.99, I can’t really complain too much about that. The sweet potatoes in the sweet potato masala looked/tasted fresh though. The other thing I wasn’t a fan of was there were only two meat dishes and both of them were both the most common and my least favorite Indian meat dishes, tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala. Again, I can’t complain too much since it was $ 4.99, but I would have liked to see some sort of non-creamy meat curry. Considering the price for all you can eat it’s good bang for your buck — however this isn’t the kind of stuff that I can stuff myself on, but it’s still a good deal. Food = 2.5, but since it was a good deal I’m rounding up to 3. The lady who worked there was very nice too.

I really did not believe my coworker when she told me about the $ 3.99 buffet lunches(M-F only) at Taj Palace. I was a bit skeptical… frankly, cheap buffets scare me. Too many stories from college days, which I will spare you. Bottomline… Well, i gotta admit, i was pleasantly surprised. The food was not horrid. It was edible, on the bland side, but it was OK. I stuck to the vegetarian choices, spinach and potato dishes. The naan was a bit thick and chewy for my taste. The rice could have used some more seasoning. Service was rather good. The waiter went around and refilled water often. The cashier was friendly. Overall, an ok indian buffet for $ 3.99.

$ 4 for lunch buffet. *squints eyes* did i read that right? 4 dollars for lunch buffet?! even without this price going on, it was still worth every buck! the manager of this place? she’s a sister to the volunteer group i work with. she’s always serving us up fresh hot naan and chai tea just the way we like it. the buffet selections here are probably more extensive than other indian buffets i’ve been to. minus the chicken dishes and the lamb dish, i was able to eat everything on the buffet table. for the price, it can’t be beat. the quality and richness of the entrees rivals those of much more expensive restaurants. oh geez, as i’m writing this, visions of curry and naan are floating across the room. is it just me or is anyone else getting hungry?

This is one of the best lunch buffets I’ve tried. I really liked their curries. The chicken tikka masala was really good! The chicken was moist and tender. The sauce was nice and creamy. The vegetable masala? was really good too. It was sweeter than the chicken tikka masala. They almost tasted the same too. The lamb curry was a first try. Some lamb pieces were nice and chewy. The spinach and cheese dish was spicy, but good. There were two kinds of pea dish and they were both good. I didn’t try two lentil or beans dishes because i wasn’t a big fan of them anyways. For dessert, they didn’t have the froyo because the machine was too old. But, the rice pudding did its job to cool me off. It was a bit on the sweet side though. The only downside was their naan. I had better naans before. In the beginning, some were stale or hard and then the fresh ones came out. The fresh ones weren’t as chewy and fluffy as i wanted. Bill was about $ 26 when you mention Unilocal.About 3 dollars off of 3 people buffet meal. So remember to mention Unilocal and u get 10% off! pretty good deal! You also get this card that they stamp everytime u go and if u get 7 stamps, you get the 8th meal free! I would come back, but its kind of far from where i live.
