Ever time we come here it is always a pleasure. The service is quick and great. Not to mention the food is amazingly tasty. The location is perfect since this shopping center is not too busy.

The boat is soooo cute! You can pick whatever you want and it’s not too much for one dish so you are able to try different ones.

Nasty food. Who said this place has fresh sashimi??? I just paid $ 50 and walked out hungry. I have dinned in 80% the 4 and 5 star sushi restaurants in SF, south bay, east bay, Honolulu, and tokyo. This place gets a 0 star. Imagine that the unagi from sushi bar is cold, hard and chewy, yes literally chewy. Non spicy scallop that has a bag of salt water in it and it’s spongy, and hamachi and salmon were fishy(I never had sashimi tasted like that)… I really hate to waste food. Thank goodness the nagari pieces were thin. The chicken teriyaki tasted like plain chicken with some canned teriyaki sauce on top. Chicken katsu was almost hard like rock… Only the udon soup was edible IMO. I really have no idea why it’s a 3.5 star on Unilocal.I have never been a fans of restaurants in the malls(8⁄10 are gross), but I had no choice today since kids wanted noodles. One thing that really surprised me was the price… items on the menu were very cheap compared to most Japanese restaurants in the bay area… but with such quality food. I will not be returning. The wait staffs are very attentive to Caucasians, large groups and people who dress«wealthy». If you are neither, expect to be ignored. Food 0/5, service 1⁄5.

The rolls and nigiri were great. Salmon was super buttery and fatty. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars because most of the servers were kind of up tight. One server was great and funny, Noël. He was super nice, helpful and hilarious. Overall a good experience and food was yummy.

The worst Japanese in Bay Area. There is nothing fresh even includes tofu. Everything on the boat looks and tastes really old. Just like nobody is doing the roll. I clearly saw chef using sushi knife to cut the seaweed box! Seems like there is only one waiter there. I waited for a while to get seated even if the room had lots of empty spots. I also waited for a long time to get the check. The food here is horrible. Again, this is the worst Japanese I ever had in Bay Area.

So it’s been several years since my last review. Honestly, this place is really great for a ma and pa shop. The wait staff, sushi chefs are very attentive in making sure that you get what you want. I was there today while they were getting the TVs installed. So what does that mean? Warriors playoff basketball and sushi. Instead of being limited to wings. Hizzah!!!

Horrible. There is no cook or chef to do our rolls, and one of them taste super old. We ordered a bento boxes with 3 items and they took forever(well, they only had one waiter). Then the sushi chef came back — rolled under the table to get inside. After rolling and dirty his hand, he used those to cut a prepared California roll(without a pair of glove) for the other table. See, told you, horrible. Our bento box came out with little tiny portion. Small portion is not a problem, the taste was ok. And without suprises, I found aluminum pieces inside my chicken teriyaki. Grossss and again, horible.

This place has a great setup for groups: good seating, fast-ish service, clean environment, straight forward menu, and an excellent presentation. As for the sushi itself, lets just say I have had better. Rainbow rolls were okay, but I was not a fan of the shrimp they put on top. Something about it didn’t taste that fresh to me so I scraped it off. The calamari was not my favorite either. It looked amazing, but tasted rather plain without any dipping sauce on it. If I had to give the food a score from my experience it would be about a two or a three, everything else about this place is easily a four.

We came here to have dinner before out movie. Is a good place, not very crowded and we got seated right away. It’s located right at the mall so there’s plenty of parking in the area. The sushi and rice was okay the sushi boat is such a cute concept but the rice was dry and the sushi was a bit slimy…// I don’t know if it’s suppose to taste that way! Anyways got the bento box also and the fish was so small and honey. The BBQ ribs barely had any meat on them! If was all fat and sauce!!! What??? Like I said they are ok, not much excitement here. Greta location but if they just put A little effort in improving their food they can go a long way…

A very fun place to take kids and get them exposed to the wonders of sushi. My kids really enjoy the California rolls(of course) and are starting to expand the horizons. Having the sushi boat go around gets them excited about trying new items. The wait staff here is excellent, Ryan and Noël will certainly take good care of you. There is(as far as I can tell) a new sushi chef, who is excellent. Not only does he make great sushi, but he is very engaging and created a new«special roll with spicy tuna on top»… Which was phenomenal. I had two.

Lunch for 2. — Ambiance(4⁄5) Cool setup, clean. — Service(2⁄5) Considering the setup, the service should be phenomenal since all the waiter would be expected to do is fill my water. But, that didn’t happen. — Salmon Collar, $ 6.50(2⁄5) OK but some pieces burnt quite badly. And because it’s been on the boat for awhile, it’s cold. Not a fan of cold, burnt collar. — Imitation Crab Tempura, $ 2.95(1⁄5) Cold, soggy tempura… and who makes tempura with imitation crab. Seriously? — Popcorn Fish Ball, $ 2.95(1⁄5) At first I was a little excited– maybe this was popcorn shrimp? Turns out they take a tiny piece of crab claw stick it into some mystery meat… I’m guessing fish ball, and then fry it. How deceiving. — Various Sushi, $ 5.50(2⁄5) How madly disappointing it was to watch these boats float on by with imitation crab in every single iteration of sushi. It’s like the chef had only 3 ingredients– imitation crab, avocado, and rice. Or maybe, that’s the only thing he knew how to make. They weren’t even well made(rolls falling apart and such). — Value(1⁄5) The value here is really egregious. It’s like the owner sat down and thought, how can I extract the most money for the least use of product? I know, I’ll fry imitation crab meat, and I’ll use a claw to trick customers into thinking there’s real crab, then surprise them with fish ball! $ 1 per fried imitation crab stick? $ 1 per«popcorn mystery meat»? More than $ 1 per piece of imitation crab sushi? C’mon now! — Final Word I reserve my 1’s for food poisoning and downright awful places. Sushi Boat teeters on the edge.

Super tasty sushi! Their sushi bar has a great selection. I love the art of sushi and these guys really have it going on… an abundance of color which I love. I want to eat it all :) Something as simple as their California rolls; perfection(and extremely fresh). Every time I visit this mall, this is my «go-to» place for a quick and healthy meal.

Umm this place is awesome! Spacious, clean restaurant with a revolving sushi belt!!! I sat at the bar and got salmon and tekka makki(dunno if I spelled that correctly). Sushi was fresh and yummy. I like that they offer complimentary green tea! Def. will be back when I’m in the area :)

Came here for the first time today for lunch. The salmon nigiri(2 piece sushi) was fresh and really good. The bento we ordered(beef teriyaki and katsu) came out hot and tasted pretty good too. The only thing that didnt impress me much was the spider roll we ordered, which came out with cold fried crab and the batter on the crab was soggy. Other than that everything was pretty good and I would come back again.

Great mediocre sushi, hey, come for the boats if you’re shopping, it’s cool. I guess the price is fine, nice chipped plates for all your dishes. The place is pretty, the mall is nice, so it makes a good day package. There’s some killer sushi out yonder if that’s what you’re really looking for. Cute ambience. 3 stars

Tonight I tried the«sushi boy». Absolutely loved it. Salmon, tuna and cream cheese inside with salmon, tuna and spicy tuna outside. Topped with house sauce and tabiki. Give it a try. Love coming here. The new chef has really changed this place. The new rolls introduced have been fabulous. The place is now packed every time we come here. Can’t get enough of the place. I think we have had every roll possible. Spider is done very nicely for a great price compared to other locations we have been to. Staff has always been very kind and attentive. 2÷26÷16 Place was packed. Best time to come. Roll very tasty. Pot stickers were fabulous!!! Chef made a spicy crab with eel, tempura outside. Topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. Fabulous!!! Everyone around us very happy. Means they enjoy the food as much as we do. 3÷14÷16 Came by for lunch. 2 chef that we have never seen before. Friendly and kept the boats full. Love the boats. Chance to try something different. Today the chefs were conservative. So not much different today. Still enjoyed our lunch.

It’s sad when the service is so horrendous that you need to write the review while you’re still waiting for anyone to attend to you to get the bill. It’s a shame that I have to rate this place so low because we loved the location at Oakridge Mall. Everything and everyone was amazing at that location. But here, it is an entire different story. The food is okay. Prices are on par with many other sushi places. There is nothing special about their rolls or anything that really makes this place unique. The Oakridge location had a bunch of unique and tasty rolls. Service is really what I am reviewing about and no, I don’t think I’m being harsh. We ordered two sushi rolls and when we didn’t get the second one, we let the server know. She seemed irritated and when she was speaking to the sushi chef, she had the nerve to say«they’re complaining about not getting a roll.» Lady, we were wondering why this one roll was taking over 20 minutes to arrive when everything else came out within 10 minutes. It didn’t seem like our order was the only one being miscommunicated. Tables nearby had to constantly remind their servers what their orders were. How about you write down the order instead of trying to remember it because you keep screwing it up. You’re welcome for the gracious two stars. You guys just BARELY deserve it. I’m surprised this place is rated as high for what it is.

Not alot of variety on the sushi boats, same stuff that keeps going around. The ones I did get was just okay! Ordered 2 hand rolls and never got them. We had to order a beef teriyaki to fill us. Only 3 waiters to help throughout the restaurant. Would I come back, probably not.

So since my last review, I’ve been back to Sushi Boat quite a few times. and I have to say. solid 4 stars from me :) I must have caught them on a short rib off day that day… because ever since that review and my multiple visits back, the Korean BBQ short ribs have been on amazing. soft and perfectly flavored. YES! Honestly Sushi Boat is one of my go to restaurants in the area. and same as my last review. I still get the same combination bento box with 3 items. California rolls are always solid… honestly some of the best California rolls I’ve ever had. and I am pretty picky about my California rolls! :P The crab meat has to be the perfect texture and flavor, and Sushi Boat definitely ranks up there in terms of their CA rolls for me. You can also get their sashimi with salmon only! You get 6 pieces of sashimi, and to be honest. the slices are small. But it’s okay, they’re still yummy. OH, the combination bento box also comes with miso soup and salad. The miso soup is just a solid miso soup, nothing out of the ordinary here. I absolutely LOVE their salads here… mostly because of the dressing. It’s this brightly pink/purple dressing that’s sweet and compliments the salad perfectly. The servers here are so incredibly friendly too! They check up on us just the right amount to make sure our food tastes good. I was also informed today that if you leave a Unilocal review and show it to them, you can get 15% off your bill! TIP: you can give them multiple credit cards to split the bill! I’m not sure how many the max is, but I did it with 2 cards today. SUSHIBOAT, I’ll be back for you when I’m craving some good CA rolls and BBQ short ribs.
