Enjoyed the dining experience here. Customer service was great and the interior setting is a big plus. This is a good place to visit if you want a nice ambiance. For the food, we tried the spicy calamari, caterpillar roll and beef sukiyaki. The sukiyaki was okay, the beef seemed to be a little dry. The spicy calamari and caterpillar roll were good, I would order them again. The sushi rolls have very generous sizes. Overall a very decent place in this area.

At an average price of $ 18 – 20 per dish, I was expecting much better quality Japanese food. Unfortunately FuruSato did not deliver. We tried the seafood udon and the beef sukiyaki. We also tried the Chuck Norris roll. The Chuck Norris roll is the only thing that tasted decent. First of all, the seafood udon and the beef sukiyaki share the same soup base. That is not acceptable. Any decent Japanese sukiyaki should feature soy soup base that is nearly dry but not soupy for sure. It does not help that the beef tasted dry and not fresh either. The seafood udon only had 3 mussels, 2 small shrimps, and 1 random crab leg inside. The value of these dishes is just not there to justify the pricing. The freshness of the ingredients is also questionable. Needless to say, I would not frequent this place in the future.

This place deserves negative 5 star. The worst tasteless sushi ever. We got the $ 60 sashimi and it came with 25 piece of crappy frozen buffet quality fish ever. Indescribable gross. Didn’t realize it could be this bad. The Miragai had sand in it. Pretty much had to regurgitate. Maybe the rolls are much easier to stomach but I am just praying we won’t get sick from today

We’ve seen this place before, but this past weekend our daughter in law suggested it. Wow, we were amazed. Absolutely pleasant, gracious staff and the food was authentically prepared. We ordered several different rolls and udon for our party of five people. I don’t remember which roll it was but one came with«baby lobster» deep fried on top and it was melt in your mouth delicious. We will definitely be going back when in the area. We all enjoyed the prep of the edamame appetizer too. Definitely worth stopping at. They have the ever popular rolls, bentos, udon and more. They do serve sake and beer as well.

my wife was satisfied with the service as well as the food. we had ordered the sushi boat for two, and i had ordered an extra spicy tuna handroll as the test standard. usually when i go to a new japanese place i would order their spicy tuna handroll to see how well their chefs handle a handroll. the fish was fresh, the service was as quick as they can be, the waiting staff was running nonstop trying to help everyone the best they could. no one was sitting around doing nothing. i only wish that the seaweed was a bit more crispy and not as soggy as it was on the handroll. the spiciness was just right, a bit more spicy than i could handle, but i loved it. the great thing is that they actually had a button that you could push to ring for a waiter. this actually eliminated a lot of waiting time for us as we were crunched on time. one less star than perfect because the handroll could have been better wrapped.

Been coming here for years, especially once Michi closed its doors. They know us now, and have our orders basically memorized, even down to my kids’ special«no green things» Miso Soup order. The fish is always fresh and yummu, their rolls and other menu items are good too. Service is fast and friendly. It’s our neighborhood favorite.

First time to FuruSato to check out the sushi scene and left pleasantly impressed. We arrived with a reservation and we were seated right away. The restaurant was 75% full – always a good sign in my opinion. The booth and table we were at weren’t totally wiped down clean, some rice flecks on the seat(the other guy must have REALLY enjoyed it). We ordered gyoza to start(little oily but nicely crisped) and 3 rolls: the ultimate spider, double sake and chuck Norris. Each MASSIVE roll had 8 pieces so we left very full. I’m not an expert on the freshness of sushi but it tasted good to me and my stomach agrees. The prices are very reasonable, plenty of parking and great for families. They have the private rooms too – wear nice socks :)

My Son and Daughter joined me while my Wife went out with some of her girlfriends. Her loss ;). The prices are good, their fish is fresh, and their service is prompt and friendly.

Very decent place with good sashimi. Rolls come with a bit too much sauce but quite happy with their sashimi and tatami.

It would be difficult to find a better sushi restaurant for the same price point. One would have to pay four times more to get perhaps a 10% better quality quality. And then again 95% of us can’t tell the best from what is being served here in the Bay Area as they all buy from the same sources. I have yet to find a better California roll anywhere in the Bay Area. I have had better fish elsewhere like sushi Sawa but who wants to pay 4 times more? You would have to go to Hawaii or vancouver or Japan to get the finest quality that won’t break your bank. In the meantime, I would stick with Furasato when I need a sushi fix

Everyone was very nice. We ate at the bar. Great food. Portions are big. No complaints here. We left 75% tip on a large meal.

I was greeted very well upon arriving, which was a good start. But I really wasn’t very impressed at all by our waitress. We ended up using one of the private rooms(called Tatami), where we took off our shoes before entering and were offered traditional floor mats to sit on(there was an alcove under the table for people to stick their legs, if they didn’t want to sit in the traditional fashion). The waitress made it very clear they expect people to reserve these rooms beforehand, and that coupons and discounts don’t apply to the Tatami rooms. But it was still a very pleasant, intimate experience. The hot sake was divine(nice that they also have cold sake, plum wine, and other wines). Even though the fish my date ordered looked beautiful and fresh, I’d say they’re a titch over-priced. And there were very few vegetarian options(edamame, veg tempura, veg yakisobi, cucumber rolls), which is pretty rare for this area. So I’d say I enjoyed my company and I enjoyed the Tatami experience. But it’s not one of my top choices for sushi or Japanese cuisine.

The wait staff was incredibly sweet, location was convenient and easy to park. The tea was really good to start the meal. We went here for dinner and tried a few items, none of which were really good nor fresh. My pallet is better suited for simple, fresh sushi, but if you like more complex mixtures and fushion style then this might be a better place for you! The food: The Spicy Calamari was incredibly chewy, the flavor reminded me of bbq chicken wings I usually have at a football game. The Hamachi Kama was huge. The cheek bone was good, flavorful and juicy but the neck was incredibly dry. The Sashimi platter came with generous cuts of five different fish. The salmon was by far the best, the others were thick but overall a bit tasteless and some were chewy. Finally we got the Godzilla roll. This roll was impressive, completely packed with fish and covered in a crab salad mix(way too much mayo for me) and an generous amount of Roe. The mix was pretty fun to eat with the contrast of crunchy tempura, soft fish, crunchy roe, soft crab, but it would be impossible to distill the flavors. Overall I would recommend going here if you want some huge creative rolls and like tempura but not if you’re looking for delicate and fresh sashimi/sushi experience.

Michelle is amazing. She has been here for years. Whenever I think of Furu sato, I think of the amazing food and the amazing service michelle has provided. She is so warm and welcoming. Tonight I met haku. He was so pleasant. Very attentive and super personable. Thank you again for the amazing night. I brought my brother for the first time and it blew his mind. He can’t wait to come back down to eat here again. Fave rolls– sharks roll, spider, happy day and 69er

Fresh fish, creative rolls, nice décor, friendly staff. Everything about this place is great. I come here with Momma Lynn every now and then for a special dinner date. She uses her Passport dining card and it’s worth it every time. I enjoy sashimi and/or nigiri sushi, while Momma likes the rolls. So I usually get a few pieces of sashimi or nigiri and we share a few rolls. I think my favorite it the Chuck Norris, but the fish is fresh I also really like the rainbow roll. I have yet to have anything bad from this location.

I was recommended by a co-worker to try this place out. I invited my cousin to lunch because we both love sushi. When we got here we were immediately greeted and seated. It was quiet and pretty empty. However; the décor was very nice. The waiter was kind and soft spoken. After browsing the menu I order the Godzilla roll and the calamari’s. The calamari’s was delicious. It was covered in sauce but oh so good. The Godzilla roll was amazing and my cousin ordered the green dragon which was also amazing. Price was decent but over all the experience was nice. I will come back if I’m ever nearby but for now I’ll stick to my favorite spot«Cha-Cha Sushi»

Food and service was average. Décor was nice though. Went here after reading the other Unilocaler’s review on the passport dining discount and the sushi boat. Used the 20% off code fora signature sushi boat with two customized rolls. The sushi was good but the rolls were on the saucy side. Don’t think I will come back though because they are dishonest. We ordered rolls that said it was made with real crab meat and when the rolls came, it was made with imitation crab meat. Trust me, I’ve had enough sushi in my day to know real crab vs. imitation crab. I confronted the server and she quickly denied and told me it was real crab meat but I just couldn’t tell because it was mixed with mayonnaise. I mean the roll wasn’t bad, they just false advertise.

Dined at furu-sato a couple of times now and this place is not bad. They are in passport dining so we get 20% off our dinner tab. The interior is nice and has a lot of Japanese decorations. Service was extremely friendly and the food was a-okay! The chef even gave us a free salmon appetizer which I thought was super sweet. We always get the furusato mix boat(49.95) for two people. Totally fills you up and for the price its pretty cheap! Jalapeño appetizer is a MUST!!! Deep fried jalapeño stuffed with spicy tuna and cream cheese. Nom nom nom Our dinner tab only cost under 50.00 because of the passport dining card that we had. Great deal!

Classic 3.5 Star, but they were very nice to us – so I bumped them to a 4. Came here with the lady for dinner on a Sunday night and it was pretty good. We ordered a chef’s choice sashimi plate and a bento. Food was tasty, service was okay and the overall environment was pretty cool. Was not super impressed though. This place strikes me as a local Saratoga sushi joint with regulars who come in for some decent sushi — which is awesome. + Grilled chicken was on point + Sashimi was pretty good, would not say it was exception cuts but I liked it + The place is spacious which is cool, but it’s not like fine dining. More like a nice diner + Service was attentive and sweet, but they missed some of the easy stuff for us + Pricing was okay. Nothing outrageous for the food we ordered I liked, I did not love. Would come back if I was close by but I would not think about my next visit. Try it out!

This place was pretty terrible. I went for a friend’s birthday and we got the room in the back where you are uncomfortable and can’t wear shoes. The service was bad: — Took forever to get our food and one person didn’t get her food until all of the rest were done eating — Had to ask for water repeatedly — When the server finally brought water in a huge pitcher, he spilled it on the table in front of me — Had to ask for napkins — Had to ask for little dishes for soy sauce — Only one bottle of soy sauce for 12 people — We were given all one check even though we asked for separate checks — The restaurant was very loud — It was really, really hot inside The food was not great either unless you like California rolls covered in mayonnaise and sauces and roe and crunchy tempura bits. The hamachi tasted really citrusy. The salmon was snappy and tough. I will not be returning here.
