I’m surprised by all the negative reviews on here! My boyfriend and I stopped by here in the early afternoon because we were craving donuts, we bought about 6 donuts and it came out to about $ 5, so not bad price wise at all. I was really impressed with how soft and not overly sweet these donuts were and will definitely be back. :)

Love this place! Perfect spot to reward my toddler after getting his first haircut at the Kids Salon. Great selection, and my favorite part was the mini donuts. Perfect size for my little guy, plus I got to try a variety without filling up too fast. We’ll be back! :-)

Thankfully, Dunkin Donuts is making it’s way back to the West Coast. A few decades ago, there were actually in California already. However, for whatever reason, they closed all the Cali stores and places like Sunny Donuts were forced to change their names. However, there seems to be some remnants of the DD franchise. For instance, if you put some of the donuts here side to side with some from DD, most wouldn’t be able to recognize the difference. The taste? That’s another story. Again, decent donuts(and«donut holes» as opposed to Munchkins), but wait for the extra few months or years for the real thing to come back to San Jose. On a side note, if you’re willing to drive an hour or two to Modesto, they have a Dunkin over there.

I would’ve given negative stars if it was possible… And if you knew me, that’s saying a lot. First of all, it was late afternoon/early evening so clearly these weren’t fresh off the oven but it’s ok, I don’t mind that part at all… What I did mind was that it was $ 1 per regular glazed donut!!! The donuts are decent(good at best when it’s fresh off the oven) and maybe the best in Cambrian Park but that’s no reason to charge $ 1/donut…and on top of it, it’s not that great!!! I’m actually a person who doesn’t mind even paying $ 2/donut as long as they are great donuts, which these are clearly not. Anyways, if you want to spend $ 1 for an avg. donut be my guest… This store got my last $ 2 it will ever get from me and a bad review which I hope people will take heed. Cheers! P. S. I should’ve read the reviews below before going to this store, the one with 1 Star pretty much said the same thing as me. The 5 Star one said that she’s been going to the store before she knew the owners so no biases(uh, then why didn’t you post it on Unilocal your review back then?) Anyways good luck to the owners… UPDATE: Found a great donut place not very far… it’s called Manley’s Donuts! Half of the price and the donuts are great! Enjoy!!!

I stopped by Sunny Donuts on my way to drop-off my dog to a doggie daycare. First impression, this place is so clean. The store doesn’t have that stale oily smell. All donuts are displayed perfectly on the shelves behind the counter. They look so pretty!(and they are calling name). Great varieties too! Green tea donuts and Boston cream… WOW! The owner seems a bit grumpy and impatient, when I tried to choose my donuts. But I don’t care, I understand that he has suffered so much to make these delicious donuts. The size is perfect. Not too big. And they aren’t too sweet either. PERFECT! I don’t feel guilty eating 2 or 3 of these. Quality over quantity. I’ll be back!

I’ve been going here for a while since I work nearby and my coworker’s fiancé’s parents own this store.(I’ve been going here before I knew of this though, so no biases) Anyways, I usually get their buttermilk, blueberry cake, or old fashioned, but after hearing some good things about their ham and cheese croissant, I decided to try it one day. Today was that day! And I’ve gotta say, it was delish! It was a bit different from what I’ve expected prior to ordering it. Why? Bc the ham and cheese were baked into the croissant, rather than a breakfast sandwich, where the croissant is cut in half. The croissant was nice and flaky and the inside, OMG, sooooo good and creammyyyyy. I think they use swiss cheese? Bc I like it SO much better than cheddar! Also, big plus is the ham is like the deli ham kind, not the thick slice of breakfast ham that’s just slapped in with the cheese. The portion was pretty big too bc I was barely able to finish it in one sitting. Def worth the $ 2.95!

They have the best breakfast sandwich in Cambrian park. We hooked by it and wave goodbye to Starbucks sausage sandwich. My boys can share one huge sandwich and enjoy another one vanilla cream donut by each. This is cutting my guilty for feeding them sugar a lot. My husband grab their sandwich at least two times a week. The owner is super friendly but shows in his deep heart. Don’t scare by his seriously face. If you have to work at 4am until late evening and still hold a big smile, you are the ironman. Don’t forget their coffee, especially Americano, save your time for waiting in Starbucks. Trust me, you can have a satisfied one here.

I went here a few weeks ago. Not only is the donuts not fresh, but they are over priced. I’m one & done and won’t be back again.

This joint used to be a national chains shop many years ago… the donuts etc are behind the seller so you can not see what you are getting. I prefer a bakery case so I am able to see what I am buying also they use some weird oil and these donuts taste off to me. Now as for the staff RUDE. So I gave them a shot gonna stick with my regular donut shop on Bascom Avenue.

Good area but didn’t like the setup(EVERYTHING is behind the counter, hard to see the doughnuts on the backwall). Great service though but overall not my cup of tea.

Quality is subpar. Been coming here for years. It’s a good location. Skip it if you can, there are better.

Love this shop. Have been coming here occasionally for ten+ years. Always super fresh. And the owners are super sweet. It does suck that you have to use cash… But most people have a 5 $ bill in their purse or pocket. These donuts are cheap and tasty!

I’d give this place 5 stars for their yummy, fluffy, soft, and tasty glazed doughnut offerings, but I have two qualms: 1. The owner’s just okay. He’s not rude, but customer service isn’t all there. 2. I know everyone wants doughnuts after church so I went in a little before 12 on Sunday and there were practically no doughnuts left. It seems they make one big batch in the morning and that’s it. –1 star for not keeping up with demand. +for the vegetarians out there, you’re good, they cook the doughnuts in palm oil. Not sure if vegan though.

This is my first time back in a couple years. I can’t remember if I enjoyed it before. But I came here this morning and got some donut holes as well as a ham and cheese sandwich for me. I’m a huge fan of ham and cheese croissants, but this one was pretty subpar. I don’t know what kind of cheese they use in it, but it wasn’t great. It was pretty undercooked so I got more of a doughy taste rather than ham and cheese. The glazed donut holes I got had very little glaze to them, which was kind of disappointing. However the owner who was there was very very nice especially for it being 5:30 in the morning which always earns cool points with me. Reading all the other reviews and how everyone else seemed to enjoy the donuts, I’m willing to come back here to see if satisfies my donut cravings and possibly give it a better review. Until next time.

A guest of mine who is from Seattle came down to visit me, so I invited another Seattle raised friend to come over and have lunch. We had lunch and four hours later my friend Dan who lives locally says«Dunkin Donuts used to be across the street from the Cambrian shopping center; It is now called Sunny Donuts and they have a Vanilla Cream filled concoction that is like the original that Dunkin Donuts used to serve there. I never tasted the original and wouldn’t know them from the past having never had one. Never the less we headed out to try these tasty concoctions and so we did. Upon arrival my friend Dan requested the Vanilla Cream variety and requested that they be overfilled. The person behind the counter complied and went into the back-room to add additional filling. Flavor is fantastic and I only ate ½ of one. Rich in flavor and a light crust on the outside. The vanilla cream is not overly sweet and I am convinced it probably is not necessary to overfill them. None the less it was a real treat and I will certainly return the next time I have that donut desire. ummm ummm ummmmm.

The donuts are decent but the owner is a jerk. He overstuffs them in a bag so the glaze and sprinkles get all messed up– not a good thing for little kids looking forward to getting a treat. And what’s up with no napkins anywhere to be found and when you ask for some they give you one. I know it’s just a donut place but customer service is everything. Super unfriendly and rude. Won’t be going back.

PROS: 1. Open late 2. Huge variety of donuts 3. They taste pretty fresh even when buying them near the end of the day 4. The Bavarian Cream Donut made me cream in my own pants: P CONS: 1. Barely any donuts left even hours before they close. Seems like they only bake one huge batch the morning of and then, that’s it. Kinda stupid if you asked me. What if I wanted more than just a few of their donuts an hour before they closed? I’d be SOL, that’s for sure.

I ordered a dozen donuts. The owner packed the donuts tightly in a regular cake type box, standing the donuts on edge. When I opened the box, the chocolate icing on the chocolate donuts and Boston Crème were stuck to the sides on the box and to adjacent donuts! WTF? Dude, how long have you been in the donut business? Answer — A long time and you should know better. ARG!!! On the other hand, the donuts are still tasty. But still … 2 stars for bad business practice.

Sunny Donuts serves up fresh tasting donuts in the early morning. I went in twice to this donut shop… one day in the morning, around 9am, and then another time in the afternoon, around 2pm. When I went in the morning I noticed that they had a variety of donuts available. As I sat in the shop and enjoyed my donut and coffee, I noticed that crowds of people just kept coming in. There were those just stopping to get a donut or two or a dozen. The place attracts families as well since I noticed a few children inside the place. The other time that I went in was around the afternoon time, around 2pm. During that time their donut selection lacked in variety since most of them were already sold out. The ones that were left did not taste very fresh and tasted somewhat stale. My suggestion: go in during the early morning time before noon if you want some fresh tasting donuts and want to have more of a selection to choose from.
