Special FX Salon & Day Spa

After a long search I believe I have finally found my permanent stylist. Danielle B. Was amazing! She took the time to consult with me ahead of time to be sure we were on the same page. Everyone is jealous of my hair color and I am in love with it. She listened to my needs and I felt like time flew when I was there because she has great energy and conversation. Going back for sure!

Danielle B. has been dying and cutting my hair for at least 6 – 9 months now. I have received nothing but compliments on my color and she keeps my hair healthy by cutting it but never too much… she cuts just enough to leave it healthy without hacking away. I highly recommend her for services. I’ve been very happy with the new me each time I leave the salon.

After a bad first impression (mixed up scheduling), I decided to give this salon another chance when the owner, Denise, reached out to me. I respect Denise as a business owner for contacting me immediately after discovering I had a bad experience.
I’m glad she asked me to come in again, because after getting my services done, I was very satisfied with my hair — which rarely happens for me! I think I’ve found my go-​to salon!
The salon looks new (although they’ve been in business for over 20 years), is clean, nicely decorated, and well-​equipped. Observing other hair stylists, everyone there seemed to know what they were doing. There’s music playing in the background and they also offer you tea/​coffee/​wine while you get your hair done. Definitely had a spa-​like atmosphere.
This 5-​star rating though, is honestly mostly for Gabriella (who was my hair stylist.) I requested Gabriella after reading good reviews and seeing photos of her work, here on Unilocal.Gabriella was a pleasure to work with from the beginning until the moment I left the salon. I got a balayage done and during the 4 hours I was there, I got to know Gabriella. She’s professional, well-​educated and very passionate about her work. It definitely showed when she was finished with my hair. She also gave me many tips on how to keep my hair healthy and maintained. I definitely recommend her if you decide on getting your hair done here.

Not a good first impression. Called yesterday to schedule an appointment. Was told to come in at noon. Well, guess what. Whomever booked it messed up. They couldn’t get me in. Did offer for me to come back at a later time. No thank you. Won’t be back. I’ll take my business to a place that is more professional and that can schedule appropriately.

Holly is my girl! The only person who gets to cut this luscious thinning collection of hairs. I recommend her to all of my fellow engineer!

Just got a great cut from Elizabeth Adams! I was in desperate need of a cut and not really any ideas for what to get. Elizabeth sat me down and took her time looking at my hair and face to come up with an idea. I agreed and she was off! I’m in love! What a great fun haircut that will be easy to style and is super short, just like I wanted. Fanatic tic service and a great cut. She really took her time and made it just right. I highly recommend Elizabeth Adams!!!

I’ve had an appointment with Alisha a few times now and will keep returning because of her. She put me at ease when I was nervous about trying out a new style, tamed my crazy hair, gave me a styling tutorial on how to achieve the same look at home, and made the overall experience enjoyable every time. Daniele B. Has been my hair dresser for 2.5 years. She does amazing cuts. She’s very professional and always has a smile. I will never leave her unless I move really far away! After a haircut with Daniele, I always feel super good. I haven’t been disappointed with a single cut.

I am very particular about my haircut. I had a hair stylist for 7 years in South Bay but once she left town, I was desperate search for someone who took the time to truly understand both my hair and take the time to style it to my expectations with consistency. I went through multiple stylist for a couple years till I found Elizabeth Adams. I followed her to Special FX Salon. I absolutely love her. She is very accommodating with my schedule, takes her time with the little details, fun to talk to and, above all, is very consistent. FX Salon is also a nice establishment, relatively big, clean, well-​lit with servings of coffee. If you come for FX Salon, give Elizabeth a chance!

I have only been to Danielle a handful of times now for my haircuts, but I do have to say that she is an amazing hair stylist. It did not take her long to figure out how I like my haircut and now, when I go to see her she just knows what to do. She is friendly, engages in great conversation with me and I always feel so welcome when I am there. The atmosphere of the salon is very uplifting with such a positive feel. I don’t think I will be switching salons for sometime.

I moved from Los Angeles not knowing where to go for a good cut. After searching a few places I FINALLY landed a place that nailed it. FX SALON: Hair Dresser: LARRY CAROTERS is the man to do the job!
I admired my neighbors hair style and finally asked her where she went. She sent me to Larry. I am so grateful for the referral to him. He actually listens and cuts exactly how YOU want it. He is very experienced and on top of it– is fun to talk to! Try him out! You won’t regret it. I’m his customer forever!

I checked in Special FX a couple of days ago and I can not say enough great things about my stylist Dani. She is the most down to earth, enthusiastic, sweetest, silliest person and on top of that she is THE hair wizard of all hair styling.
I have very fine, asian hair and sometimes it’s hard to find a stylist that can work with it so I’m definitely lucky that I found Dani. Not only are the overall results phenomenal but the whole process of my haircut was impressive.
Before even touching my hair, Dani consulted with me about how she would cut my hair to compliment my facial structure and she informed me about which shampoo/​products she will be using on my hair. I have eczema so some shampoos make my sensitive skin worse so Dani recommended the purple bottle of Pureology. She also informed me that all of their products are paraben free so there’s another gold star for Special FX!
Dani was meticulous throughout the whole process (comparing the sides, thoroughly inspecting my bangs and continually communicating with me) and I really appreciated it. She kept saying «sorry, it’s an ocd» but I rather have a stylist that is detail oriented than one that couldn’t care less.

(I called at 9:00am looking to have my hair styled but there were no stylists available until 11:00am)

This review is for Denise. She applied hair extensions to me a few days ago. So far, I am very happy with the outcome! I have washed them and let them air dry and I must admit they blend very nicely with my natural hair. She did a fabulous job pairing my hair type with the extensions. She works very fast and is professional. The total price was pricey but after all, you get what you pay for. This is the first time I’ve invested in my hair like this. I don’t feel guilty because it makes me feel so good! Thank you Salon FX for having such a talented artist. Cheers!

This review is especially for Danielle B. When I came to her, my hair was dead, dry, everything bad you could think of! It was bleached from dark brown straight to blonde by a lady who clearly had no idea what she was doing. Anyway, Danielle dyed my hair the EXACT color that i
I wanted and she made it so soft and way better feeling than when I walked in. I could tell that she is experienced and she’s also very professional and friendly. I’m no longer embarrassed when people look at my hair all thanks to Danielle (:

Gabby is the best with colored hair or anything spontaneous! Last year she gave me a teal ombré and this time she gave me an all darker blue ombré. I LOVEEEEE IT!!!
My experience there was great, everyone was friendly and the salon was very spacious and gave a clean feeling. It took more than 2 hours to finish and costed around $ 150. I love all shades of blue and I’m so happy it’s on my hair!

Danielle Bihler is amazing, she listens to detail and always gives me what I want. She informs me about products and helps me pick what’s best for my hair type. I’ve been seen Danielle for 3 years now and I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. Can’t wait to see you for my next appointment!

First timer! Clean and modern venue. My hair is naturally straight and pretty thin. I called in the morning of to book an appointment and Maria happened to be the earliest available. I wanted more volume and she definitely gave life to my boring hair. Great customer service. Knocked one star off because it can be a bit pricey! #edgy

I have never in my life have had such an amazing time getting my hair done then I do with Danielle Ingham.
She listens to exactly what I want and does an amazing execution. I have never got so many compliments about how healthy and gorgeous my hair looks. Danielle’s attention to detail really shows, and I can’t thank her enough for my fly hair.

I love Love LOVE this place! My dad’s girlfriend recommended this place to me 2 years ago and I have been coming here ever sense.
With only 1 exception, I’ve seen Danielle EVERY time! I love that she always encourages me to take risks and make changes to my hair that I would otherwise be terrified to make, but always makes sure I’m 100% comfortable!
She’s so so sweet and HILARIOUS! She always listens and gives me EXACTLY what I want. I feel that her prices are reasonable (based on other places I’ve looked at) And I always walk out of there feeling like a million bucks!

I love Danielle B. I followed Danielle to salon FX because she does such wonderful work. She puts a lot of care into her work and is always willing to go the extra mile to make a client happy. She has given me great advice on my hair after I dropped in with a complicated hair style request.
During my first cut with Danielle, I decided I wanted my bangs colored too (not what we had originally decided) and Danielle got me an appointment quickly to make the change. She is super personable and easy going. It’s always a great experience when Danielle does my hair!
