Shooting Stars Portrait Studio

I have never had a complaint here, both Anna and Barbie have always given me great service.
Being in Retail, I understand the pressure that they are under on those high peak days but they consistently deliver exceptional package offers that fit my needs and take there time with me as I assume that they would with the next customer.
I have taken my daughter there every month since she was 6 months and now that I have reached her 1 year birthday I won’t be back in until she is 2 :(Unless I find another occasion or great deal that I can’t pass up.
Every time I come in they provide me with options, just enough time to spend money at Buy Buy baby while I wait for proofs and also some conversation while we pick and choose. They always seem genuine and that is why I would recommend them and continue to take Tianna’s pictures there, I don’t even have to think twice.

Over promised and under-​delivered in every way. They rushed through the shoot so fast that my 6 month old was bewildered the whole time and barely smiled. The photographer also ignored everything I specifically asked to do and clearly went through some predefined set of very cheesy and unimaginative poses. When we looked at the proofs they had preselected maybe 6 that they thought were the best ones and I had to push to get them to show me rest… many of which I preferred because they actually showed personality instead of looking like an over posed greeting card. The kicker is that I paid well over $ 300 for a massive package of prints that I will never have a use for only because it came with a CD. I wanted the CD so that I could do some playing myself in photoshop at a later date if I felt inclined. The photos on the CD turned out to be so low resolution that they’re worthless for anything more than a Facebook post or maybe a 5×8. They refused to give me even a partial refund so now I’m stuck with $ 300 worth of ho-​hum pictures and CD that might be useful as a coaster. Complete rip-​off! For $ 300 you can hire a professional photographer who actually has artistic talent and who will give you a disk of high resolution files to keep.

I have been taking my son here since he was a week old (he’s now 13 months). Ana is the only way to go, shes fun, outgoing & gets amazing pictures. She treats every kid like they’re her own & I really have no complaints. I love how she gets numerous pictures for me to chose from & allows me to take my time in choosing the pictures or collections. :) 5 stars for sure!

We went there again on New Year’s Day. We wanted to get my kids and their cousins in on a picture or two for the grandparents (with our membership, we get a free 8×10 every day of the year if we wanted — the catch being that they have to take more than one picture and you love them all because they are of your kids/​family members, etc.). Lanisha was taking the pictures again, so we knew our wallet was in trouble! We were also returning to pick out the pictures we wanted printed of our last shoot. Ana helped us with that. She was not there the first time we went but she is just as fabulous as Lanisha. They are seriously engaging with our kids! Lanisha remembered us from the first time and she was warming our shy-​at-​the-​moment toddler right up! Even though he was seriously running on empty, sleep wise, she got great shots again. By the end of our visit, they were passing the baby around while we picked out our pictures. I really cannot say enough about these ladies — they are amazing. I will keep coming back (until they are tired of us, lol).

I am a first-​time mother of a 4-​month-​old baby boy so of course I wanted to get portraits of my baby to give as Christmas gifts and holiday greeting cards. But I had never used a portrait studio before. There was a promotion for Picture People (Hillsdale Mall) so I tried it out and it was a disaster. They were 1 hour late getting to us, and by then my baby was asleep, so he was cranky and not in a smiling mood when we had to wake him up for his photo session.
Then I was wandering through Buy Buy Baby one day and discovered the Shooting Stars Portrait Studio. They were running a December promotion as well so I thought ‘what the heck’ but I was trepident about it because of my previous experience with Picture People.
They were exactly on time (which is really important when you’re dealing with a young baby who falls asleep every 1 – 2 hours). Lanisha was my photographer and she did a great job of capturing some nice photos. She got him to smile and she didn’t mind the constant drool from him. We were done in 20 minutes and I came back 15 minutes later to check on the photos. I ordered their Christmas greeting cards as well as some other pictures. They were good quality prints.
The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 stars is that (1) they don’t have onsite printing service so you have to come back, I live far away so it’s not that convenient, but they were exactly on schedule about when the prints were available; (2) the promotion said I would receive a free CD but they forgot to give me the CD when I picked up the photos originally so now I need to go back for that; (3) the prints are exactly lined up next to each other — no white border around each — so it was a little hard to cut them.
Despite the fact that I live far away, I would go back here again for portraits. The customer service is great and my experience was just very pleasant, which is nice when you’re a new mom and don’t get much sleep.

Had my daughter’s and nephew’s pictures taken here for a Christmas present. Not only did the girls get me in for an appointment the very next day from when I called, they were amazing with the kids and were very personal and fabulous with the kids. I probably won’t go anywhere else for pictures. Great Job!!!

With Picture People gone my friend and I decided to take my Godson and his cousin to get pictures taken here. It’s close to our homes which is a major plus dealing with kids who 3 and 11 months old. Obviously this isn’t the easiest situation but their kids photographers, right? Maybe… but somehow I doubt it. So the photographer spent a lot of time gabbing with us and trying to be friendly… which was good, but the kids were sitting there all well behaved and happy. We suggested that she start taking pictures and she snapped a few. She had no kid-​mojo at all… she didn’t really even interact with him. The kids started to get fussy and she announced that she was done… hm…ok?! I guess so– we’d been at it for a while.
So then the proofs come out… and WHAT!!! THERE ARE ONLY TWO!!! The least at picture people was like 10 — some zoomed in on one and the other and then some with both. So after 30 minutes of shooting we have 2 PICTURES TO CHOOSE FROM? Oh and BTW they were TERRIBLE… the 3.5 year old looks 1.5 and the baby looked nothing like him. Then we learn that if we want matte paper they have to mail them to us. WHAT!!! SERIOUSLY??? I have two crappy pictures to choose from and I don’t get them now unless I want them printed off on your crappy glossy paper?
I guess Picture People is worth driving to San Carlos to for future pictures. We will give Kiddie Kandids a shot next.
