AYYY where da ratchets at!!! I came to one of the infamous SJSU spots, SJBG(San Jose Bar & Grill), on a Saturday night ready to see all the ratchets and to get ratchet. Before getting inside the venue, there’s security that you have to go through to check your ID. SJSU students get in free, and non SJSU students pay a cover fee. The bar service was slow, as I expected based on the number of people that were there, but the prices of the drinks was actually not that bad. I ordered two amaretto sours for only $ 12, and one cranberry vodka for $ 6. I liked the music that they played because they play songs you can dance to. In the beginning, they were playing more of EDM, but that quickly switched to hip hop after around 11:30pm. SJBG had a majority of diverse college kids. I had a pretty fun time here! Do not expect much when coming here though! Just come here knowing that you’re going to have a good time because this place literally only has a bar and a spacious venue for you to dance on!

My boyfriend and I with a group of our friends decided to come here for New Year’s Eve since we had came here last year and it was fun. This time we decided to get bottle service and let me just say it was not worth it! It was a complete let down and waste of money. When they brought out the bottle it was so plain not even sparklers or anything cute. Not to mention when my boyfriend started pouring out the liquor the spout they put on it was just leaking and most of spilled out on the floor. We took it to the bar and the manager said it wasn’t his fault and just put a different spout on it and sent us on our way. He didn’t even say sorry or give us a new bottle. We will go else where from now on. Not worth the $ 300 that completely spilled on the floor!

I swore I would never step foot in here again but the boyfriend’s friends wanted to come for some promo they had on a Tuesday. I sucked it up only to be reminded of why I haven’t bothered to come back in 3 years now. They told me I could go outside with a stamp but failed to mention to me I would have to go back in line. Thanks for the heads up, it’s a buzz kill when you have to wait for half an hour again. Drinks were mediocre a and every stall in the bathroom but one was broken. Wasn’t a very good night here. Why is it that the more ratchet the place is, the more stuck up they act? Thank you to the delightful young lady working the register at the front, she was really sweet and was the saving grace for the rest of the staff.

Honestly, I was very disappointed with my visit here. It was my first time here and the service and drinks were a let down. I had high hopes for this establishment because of its appearance. I figured that because it was such a nice place, the food and service must be great. But now after my visit here, I understand why it was so empty when we were here. My friends and I ordered an AMF because we were under the impression that we would have the drinks at happy hour price. We didn’t think that was fair mainly because an AMF is not usually $ 12 and it was very weak. I usually feel something when I drink an AMF, but this drink did nothing for me. We even asked to the manager and speaking to him was a let down. He made my friends and I feel stupid. He was rude and I’m sure I’ll NEVER be coming back. BEWARE: IFYOU’REANAMF(ANATIC), don’t come here. Besides that, the service wasn’t even good. The place was practically empty, and it took a very long time to get our food. The food was decent, but it definitely wasn’t worth the wait. Even once we were done eating, the waiter took our plates and it gstill took over 30 minutes to get our check. Very dissatisfied customer. It is clear that customer service isn’t the main priority – and there’s nothing worst than that.

Bar & Grill is not really know for its kitchen as it is mainly the college bar hotspot after 10. But everything on the menu is incredible from their burgers to their flatbreads. The bar recently got a facelift in regards to the interior as well as a revamped food and cocktail menu. With the multiple tvs around the bar I can enjoy all the Bay Area sport teams while choosing from over 20 beers on tap! SJBG has an atmosphere that can to any situation from a couples night out to just a night out with friends and everything in between!

While in downtown San Jose with a few friends we decided to try this place and it was was great. The food was good and came out pretty fast. The service and atmosphere was outstanding. Our waitress constantly kept making sure we were doing okay.

My girl friends and I were all dancing on a ledge in front of the crowd and having fun the night before Halloween and my male cousin(who had received great comments on his storm trooper costume all night) was told to leave the ledge. I asked the bouncer why and he said that men weren’t allowed to dance in front of the crowd. Needless to say I will never return to such an overtly sexist bar

WINGSZZZZ!!! For whatever reason, I have been on a wing binge. Not hard to understand, I know. So in my quest to find good wings, if they are on a menu, I order them. I hit the jackpot with this place! They are meaty, generously portioned and delicious!!! There are four flavors– hot, sweet, combo and lemon pepper. Combo is a mix of hot and sweet(who’d of thought!?). This is what I get every time. I like my wings to have a BBQ flavor with a little kick. I will admit they did over do it on the spicy side once. It’s clearly the chef just mixing the two at will and not a pre-portioned mix. That would perhaps be my only suggestion so they can maintain some consistency. Otherwise, they are perfection. Oh, but i’ve never tried lemon pepper, it just doesn’t seem like a wing flavor, idk… Since I now order the same thing every time, my review of their other food is limited. I had a couple bites of their BBQ chicken flat bread which was very delicious(and on happy hour prices, a great deal) and the tater tots which were fine. I almost always go during happy hour to watch a game and eat/drink. I’ve seen that this place gets popping after hours but have never been during that time. Seems like a standard bar with club-y dance music. I would only ask that they put my beloved wings on the happy hour menu then i’ll be complete :)

Came here to check out the Sharks game on a Saturday night. There’s gotta be at least 15 beers on tap! Ordered«The Burger» and it was very delicious! The beef patty was cooked perfect and juicy. The Potato Bun was glossed with oil and it held together. The burger was big, definitely requires two hands. I could barely fit it in my mouth. It also comes with good amount of fries on the side. Delicious. The wings here are good too. Later in the night, during the last period of game the place transitioned into a club scene and the sports audio switched over to club music. Granted its not a sportsbar. Just know it’ll turn into one around 10pm.

Very bad experience here. They have some old drunk as a bathroom attendant who came up and started trouble with me for no reason after harassing the girls I was with. Security came and instead of dealing with him they escorted me out they said they knew I didn’t do anything but he has worked there for a very long time also I ordered 3 shots of patron which they didn’t have so instead they gave me some cheap tequila $ 36 for three shots. Never going back here and I will tell everyone I know this place has no class

Went here before a concert in San Jose on a whim… Glad I found this place! Great sliders, drinks at a fair price, staff that pays attention to you. My one beef would have to be that they don’t have a chips and salsa appetizer! Within minutes of me and my buddy sitting down several people asked for chips. They’re missing out on sales for sure! Other than that I had a blast, a couple of drinks, and will definitely go back to check out one of their happy hours! Thanks to Unilocal for helping me find this place!

They have the best wings hands down! My fav are the sweet wings with blue cheese on the side. They’re 45¢ on Wednesdays and come in fours(4, 8, 12, 16, etc.). They also make a good Caesar salad which complement the wings nicely. Bartenders are friendly, I normally stick with beer. They can’t make fancy drinks here but they’ll try and accommodate you if you ask. Super nice!

We stumbled upon this place trying to figure out where among the 1000+ places to eat in downtown San Jose. The place is a vanilla sports bar. BUT the food is awesome. And the staff was great. Had the Philly cheese and Cajun tots. I haven’t had tater tots since the 5th grade. Wow, good, period. :-) not healthy and that’s cool.

Great place for a night out with great music If you want do a night out, have drinks and good old school music on a Saturday this is the spot. But security takes there job way over hand. Two security guards seemed really cocky and acted big headed. Didn’t want to let us in because we were talking back to him. I think they can rehire others more suitable for the job in stead of guys who think there better than everyone walking in

He said my English sucks of course it is for a drunk person Let me correct myself Attn: Ryan H: Went to the club on a Tuesday and was greeted by Ryan, who told us he was the manager. I told him very nicely that our friend was inside. He said mother f*er you can’t get in and he pulled the race card on me. I was extremely shocked when he continuously cursed at me and asked questions such as where are you from? He was harassing me and my friend due to our accent and he even got into our faces about it. I felt extremely disrespected by how he was treating us and felt as if he was very unprofessional. This is San Jose, a melting pot of different races. I never anticipated facing such racism here. He ruined my night and for absolutely no reason but his decision to pull the racist card. I will never come back here due to this terrible experience that I had with Ryan. The place looked promising but unfortunately the staff can enhance a place as well as break it too. I hope; you get this!

Not only did the place reek of a men’s urinal, but the service was terrible and there were at least 5 employees behind the bar. The guy who initially greeted us blew us off once we ordered to go and sit on the other side of the bar to eat and drink a beer. We ordered chicken wings and nachos. The wings were great, but the nachos were cold and the jalapeños were disgustingly pickled. Go figure the place was nearly empty.

Very angry with this place! They over charged me [$ 9,615] over a $ 39 charge. Talked to the manager and he claims he can’t explain it. Just warning people to be careful when using your debit card here.

Only been here once and it was for a beer pong tournament my company was in, so it might be a little premature to rate this place 5-stars but hey, I had a great time and it was the same day the SF Giants decided to go 18-innings and finally take the win, so it is inevitable for me to give this place 5-stars. Okay okay, here is my disclaimer. I only had drinks here so I can’t vouch for anything in terms of food, but SJ Bar and Grill definitely knew how to take care of a bunch of loud, competitive, slightly drunk people. The bartenders were always attentive and they were always aware of everything that was going on. Security was always present in case anything were to happen, he made himself noticeable. Which was great, since you never know! The bartender actually accidentally sprayed my bf and I with the nozzle from the tap, but he quickly apologized and offer us a free shot of Jamison, in which of course we appreciated because bartenders would normally just brush it off like it’s something normal to do. And with this torture of a giants game, that Jamison definitely calmed some nerves! I guess what I’m saying is 5-stars for the service and 5-stars for the hospitality! Great place to watch a sports event or even have happy hour.

3.5 stars. Seemed like a great place to kick it and watch the sharks game. I was in downtown sj last week because a friend invited me to watch game 7 of the sharks v kings series. We were deciding where to go and ultimately decided to try this place out. The menu had the usual items such as burgers, sliders, and tater tots but I decided to go with the fish tacos(beer-battered cod, pico de gallo, jack and cheddar cheese, shredded cabbage, and salsa blanco). As for drinks, SJBG didn’t have much in terms of craft beer. I figure they probably specialize in mixed drinks but I wasn’t feeling anything on the specialty drink menu(mostly margaritas) so I just told the woman to bring me anything with tequila. The tacos were actually not bad. I was pleasantly surprised! Honestly, I wasn’t really expecting much as I just needed a place to watch the game. The fish had a nice fry. They weren’t stingy with the toppings. And it came with a side of tortilla chips(didn’t mention that on the menu)! Quite tasty. I just wish it came with hot sauce and maybe a small container of salsa but whatever. As for the drink, I was given tequila and orange juice. It was what I needed at the time but wasn’t anything special. Anyway, one thing that surprised me was that they actually had a restroom attendant offering mints, candy, and cologne. Wasn’t expecting that at all from this place. But yeah! SJBG was a good spot to chill. I’ll probably want to try out another bar next time, but if I can’t think of a place, I would be just fine with coming back here.
