Sunday Night West Coast Swing. (This was some months ago, so it may have improved)
Very grateful that they offer this, and dinner is great, but recommend they avoid these pitfalls:
1. The lesson would be more fun if it moved along a little more quickly. The one I took was plagued by too much explanation which slowed the class down quite a bit. Keep it moving, go around and help individuals if you need to, but don’t keep a class full of people standing still and listening for too long. They came to dance.
2. Instead of a birthday dance, just take literally 1 – 2 minutes to announce the birthday folks, put a red sticker or something on them, and tell people to be sure to ask them to dance tonight. The birthday dances slow down the whole event.
3. Don’t spend time making announcements and taking pictures. Again, it really slows down the event. People want to dance. Every time you stop for something it kills the energy of the event.
