First timer here. Went on a Saturday night and it was packed! Friend got there first and put our name down, was told 35 minutes. Well, 35 minutes on the dot our buzzer went off. We had a great seat at the booth with plenty of room for the 5 of us. We started with sashimi salad and agadashi tofu, both really good. Ordered a ton of rolls to share. Service was great, good was delicious, and although the restaurant was super busy, our food and drinks came out pretty quick.

This is probably one of the best sushi restaurants in San Jose, if not the best. It also happens to be one of my favourite sushi places ever. I’ve been here countless times, for lunch and for dinner. It gets really busy here(duh, obviously, everyone wants to eat here) but I’ve never had a hard time getting a table, since the restaurant is huge. They have the most delicious rolls. The fish is always fresh and the presentation is beautiful. Seriously, I’ve tried so many different rolls and they never disappoint. I think if I had to pick just one, it would be the Hot Mango roll but you really can’t go wrong here. The service is pretty inconsistent but when the restaurant is busy, I have a hard time blaming the servers. It’s not like they’re hanging around checking their phones. They literally speed walk the whole time. That said, I did get annoyed on a few occasions, after I had to wait for 20 – 30 minutes for someone to check on us so that we could get more water or order something else. It never happens when the restaurant is less busy, so I’m not even deducting any stars for it. If you haven’t been here yet, don’t wait much longer!

Mizu must be one of the best Japanese restaurants in Silicon Valley. First of all the room is quite big for Sushi place, so you do not feel squeezed and second the food is excellent. We ordered two bento boxes with tempura combo with beef teriyaki plus seafood cucumber salad and calamari. Everything was melting in your mouth. You can not complain also about their(low) prices. This place will be on the top of my list, when I crave Japanese food. For long time it was on my bucket list, but this time was not another disappointment as most restaurants around Campbell or San Jose.

Hands down, the best sushi I’ve ever had, anywhere. The restaurant can be seen a little down the road of it. Though it’s not a huge restaurant, the bright blue lights and huge Mizu sign definitely make it stand out. We pull in and see a «free valet parking» sign in front of the door, and a man in uniform standing next to the podium. It wasn’t sketch, but it was weird to have valet parking for a restaurant that has a parking lot? And for free? Okay… Anyway, the wait was only 20 minutes, then we were seated at the bar. Took a little while for the server to get our orders, but my boyfriend and I had a lot to talk about so we didn’t mind. After ordering, you are brought complimentary miso soup. It was delicious, and is the first miso soup I’ve had in my life that includes seaweed. I ordered the rainbow blossom roll, which is essentially a rainbow roll with fried scallops on top. The presentation was beautiful and truly unique. I’ve never seen scallops offered with a sushi roll, and the sauces to boot? I was in heaven! My first time trying scallops… I don’t think there could have been a better experience. My boyfriend ordered the yami yami roll, which was apparently very spicy, and also served a way I had never seen before. Again, very beautiful presentation. I was very pleasantly full afterwards, and really enjoyed the time we spent around a large crowd of people our age, all enjoying each other’s company and the amazing food. My single request is that you guys pay better attention to your customers! Our service left some to be desired, but our server wasn’t rude. I get you’re busy, but you had a lot of servers!

Made reservations online. Boyfriend and I really liked the atmosphere. Lighting was good for taking photos of the food! We’re foodies. Waiters were nice and sushi rolls were made quick. We ordered yellowtail tar tar as our appetizer and Rainbow Blossom and Crazy Dragon Rolls as our main. Super tasty and fresh. Highly recommend and would love to go again.

There’s nothing else to say about this place except if you are you lucky you’ll be served by Justin Surma. As a matter of fact, the five stars are really for him. What a delightful, cheerful and helpful guy. He totally made our dining experience an extraordinary one.

your typical Americanized sushi restaurant… We ordered: * agedashi tofu as an appetizer — crispy fried tofu drenched in a warm soy based sauce and topped with bonita flakes. This is one of my favorite appetizers here. You can never go wrong ordering this dish. * 2 uni with quail egg sushi — uni was creamy and delicious. the additional quail egg in it really enhances the creamy texture of the uni. However, presentation was poorly executed. On one of my sushi pieces, the quail egg was broken. On the other piece, the quail egg felt out onto the plate itself. * cherry blossom roll — too much going on in 1 plate. I love the presentation, but taste wise was overwhelming. * SJ roll — simple yet does the job! it really complements the overwhelming taste of the cherry blossom roll. Overall: okay food, great service and nice ambiance

Since living by Mizu Sushi Bar & Grill for several years, I finally made it here! After being informed via phone that they don’t take reservations or call aheads for a wait list, we decided to stop in after being told over the phone that the wait was about 40 minutes. Since we live fairly close, we arrived quickly and was then told the wait was about 20 – 25 minutes. We decided to grab a drink at the bar and after only 5 minutes our pager went off. Once seated our waiter came by to offer drinks and made some suggestions as it was our first time being here. Our waiter was great, shame that I forgot his name :( We ordered the alaska roll, spicy tuna poppers and the yams yams roll. Everything was DELICIOUS! I completely understand the hype and am definitely a fan of Mizu now. The ambiance of the restaurant is great and is a great spot for many occasions. Parking can get crowded, but there is the grocery outlet parking lot nearby which helps. I would definitely recommend this place to others and look forward to coming back and trying more from their menu

I’ve been here twice since #thereturn(that’s what I’m calling my move back to The Bay, fyi) and both times I’ve left incredibly full and perhaps with my pants unbuttoned. This is due to the absurdly gigantic rolls and my unrelenting lack of self control. The last time I went, my friend and I split the honeymoon special: two HUGE pieces of salmon sashimi wrapped around rice and spicy crab mixture, ALLSETAFLAME. I could’ve done without the song and dance as the alcohol they use for such flame makes the fish taste funny. They have an exorbitant number of rolls, of which I’ve tried the yellowtail special and the ninja roll. I just really like yellowtail, okay? The rolls definitely are tasty, HUMONGOUS, and nontraditional, so for those of you who aren’t fans of American style roll, take it somewhere else. Despite the expansive menu, all the rolls I’ve sampled taste delicious, but I’d recommend you go light on the sauces – everything starts to taste like spicy mayo after a while. Moral of the story: skip the flaming apps, get a variety of rolls, easy on the sauce – you got this.

Found myself congregating here the other night for the sister’s birthday. Don’t let the name of this place fool you. They have plenty of other items aside from sushi and, in my opinion, a good way to describe this restaurant would be as Japanese-Korean fusion. We began by ordering traditional tempura. It came with fried veggies and shrimp. We were also brought some sauces for dipping. As for main dishes, I was in the mood for beef, so I ordered the beef teriyaki dish. Each of us were brought miso soup, rice and salad. * Tempura: pretty good. It’s tempura, so expect it to be deep fried. * Miso soup: excellent * Rice: sticky and filling, how it should be * Salad: disappointing. It was mainly iceberg lettuce. * Service: average. Things did arrive quickly, but almost too quickly. We barely had time to finish our appetizers before our main dishes were brought to us. On the other hand, our waiter completely forgot about our salads and scrambled to get them to us. Additionally, while the waiter was somewhat nice, his sarcasm wasn’t clever or funny. It was annoying. * Parking: the parking lot is average-sized. On a busy night, you will likely have to park in the parking lots behind the restaurant, which can be a bit of a walk. Then again, you can afford to burn some calories after a full meal. So deal with it, you fat@$$. 4 stars

A dear good friend of mine came all the way from New York to visit and after asking her what she would like for dinner, she immediately said she was craving sushi(apparently it can get crazy expensive over in NY?). Wanting to take her to a great-looking place with great-tasting food so that we can sit and girl-talk for hours, I decided to take her to Mizu. We got there about 10 minutes after it opened and already there were people lining up to get in. I was hoping we were going to be seated away from other patrons since we wanted to talk freely, but the host sat us right next to another table of four. Luckily, there were two chairs in the middle to separate us, but with so many choices for seating, we thought they would at least try to spread us out a little bit. Our waiter for the night was friendly enough, especially during the introduction. But throughout the rest of our dinner, he never came by to check up on us. Other waiters/waitresses asked us how we were doing, but our waiter was nowhere to be seen. Still, my friend and I were too engrossed in our conversation to be bothered by it, but it certainly crossed my mind. For our food, we got the soft crab and spicy jalapeño poppers for appetizers while for rolls we chose the Crazy Dragon and Titanic Fire Roll. Complimentary miso soup was served as well. When I first chose the spicy jalapeño poppers, our waiter warned us it was going to be crazy hot and how a lot of patrons were caught off guard about the intense heat. With so much build-up, when the appetizer hit our table, I was crazy nervous about trying it. But I’ve always been a fan of anything spicy so I took a tentative first bite, expecting flames to erupt in my mouth… Nope. No flames whatsoever. And that level of spicy required a warning? Either I have become immune to all things spicy or the chefs were off their spice-game today because that was nothing. Yeah, there was a kick of heat, but nothing that would warrant such caution! Still, it was a really great tasting dish with the jalapeño peppers lightly breaded with dough and plenty of tuna fish inside. I loved it! As for the soft crab, my friend preferred that appetizer the most, noting how the ponzu sauce was perfect and that the crab filling was plentiful. Over time, the breading did get a little soggy, but that was to be expected. The two rolls came out afterwards and I was a little surprised that the Titanic Fire Roll had no fire. I thought it was going to be wrapped with foil, covered in blue flames, but it was just an ordinary roll with fillets of hamachi, spicy mayo sauce, and avocado. The Crazy Dragon Roll wasn’t too crazy, but we liked the crunch from the panko bread crumbs and the spicy tuna. Both rolls were very big and perfect to share between the two of us. As with most specialty rolls, there was no need to dip them in soy sauce since they were so flavorful on their own. By the end of our dinner, both my friend and I were ready to roll over and lie down for a bit. We were ultra stuffed! With the amount of food we had, the pricing was ultra reasonable. My friend was really impressed by the classy look of the restaurant and the beautiful presentation of the food, so I would say dinner was a success. If you ever plan on treating a family or friend to sushi, Mizu should shoot to the top of your list. It’s great!

I came here the other night with a rather large group(9 people). They allow you to make reservations online which was convenient. I got the Rainbow Blossom Roll and the Sunkissed Roll. Both were very good — the fish was fresh, the sauce was flavorful(though the Sunkissed Roll could have used a little less of it), and they were very filling. At $ 13 – 17 for most of their rolls, it’s not quite the cheapest meal but it’s not the priciest. I also recommend the agedashi tofu(fried tofu in a miso-based soup) as an appetizer. This was a good, solid dinner. Now on to my complaint… It was a Wednesday night and not super crowded, but not necessarily empty. Absolutely no excuse for how long they took for EVERYTHING — from taking our order, bringing out the food, and bringing the check. Taking some time for one or two of these things is fine, but to take SO long for each one of these steps was super annoying. I’m normally extremely patient and understanding with these things because I have a lot of respect for people who work in food service, but my goodness this was ridiculous. It took about 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table to take our order once we were seated, and they were never around for us to wave down so they could attend to us. Then it was over a 40-MINUTE wait for just the FIRST of us to get our food. I kid you not. The servers weren’t rude or anything, but a simple«sorry for the wait» or «your food will be here in about x minutes» would have been nice. Again, this wouldn’t be as inexcusable if it were a packed Saturday night, but a late Wednesday evening? No. Just no. A friend brought up that they might have been less attentive to us since gratuity is automatically included on the bill for a group our size. The interior décor is pretty, but it’s very loud in here. We probably won’t be back.

Now I can cross this place off my bookmarks. My wonderful friend made reservations for us for my birthday since she knows how much I love sushi. Yes! I don’t remember all the rolls we ordered but the one that stood out was the butterfly roll. Mmm really tasty! I think the sushi here is pretty tasty, but slightly overpriced. You’re mostly paying for the ambience. Service was a little slow. It was sometimes hard to get someone to notice us.

Tonight was the second time we came here. I love the variety of sushi rolls here, there must be 60 – 80 different kinds on the menu. I had the titanic fire, sunkiss, salmon sashimi and popcorn shrimp here tonight. There was a 20 min wait for two, but it was a busy and loud night overall due to the warriors game, who won! But I like that type of atmosphere because it just makes you feel like a Friday night should. The service was ok, we had to remind them to give us spoons three times but I knew they were just busy. The rolls were amazing. The popcorn shrimp was a bit bland. The sashimi was great. Food came out reasonably fast as well. I’ll keep coming back here to try the other rolls.

My daughter father and I gave her a birthday dinner here. The table we were sat at was right in the front. Our guest felt uncomfortable because the staff watched us the entire time. They switched our waitress without informing us. The first waitress wasn’t friendly. The second waitress Allen was pleasant, sweet and kind. Also We ordered a Salad and tempura shrimp that never came. No apologies for that.

Came on a Sunday night and, boy, it was packed! Here’s what were ordered: –Spicy tuna salad — great flavor and generous dressing but the fish itself was quite fibrous. Fish is cubed(not mashed up like most spicy tuna) and there’s avocado cubes! yum! –Yami yami roll– deep fried yellowtail roll– something different! it was decent! –Butterfly roll– one of the better rolls. Biggest bang for your buck. I believe they use real crab, too, which makes this better than the rest. –Blossom roll with fried scallops — they used more tuna than salmon. boooo. The fried scallops were the best part. Overall, the fish and rolls itself were just okay. I have gone to a lot of sushi places that offer tons of rolls. and this place was missing that extra flavor flair that I usually experience at other sushi places. The fish itself was just eh, either too fibrous, too mushy, or just not fresh tasting. maybe I came on a wrong day. Service, however, was GREAT! We had Justin, and he really was so attentive and made sure everything was good for us! He did leave before we were done, so hopefully he got our tip that he worked so hard for!!!

Have came here several times for dates and get-togethers so I feel that it’s a good time to review this place. The fish here is pretty decent. Good enough for me to continue to come back. Presentation is beautiful as well. They have a lot of unique rolls that you won’t be able to find in other sushi places. We once ordered the big boat of assorted sushi… very appealing but I would have to say it’s better to skip it and order individual rolls/sashimi/nigiri. The downside? The service for last couple of visits here have been pretty bad. The server is always missing! And when we did hound a different server down to request a water refill or to make an order, they would oblige and then proceed to do something else… even when we made eye contact after being ignored he still didn’t do anything *sigh* Sad to say our party of 3 left unhappy. I’m not sure if I will come back after the poor service on 2 different occasions. If I do it’ll be with low expectations.

Came here the other night for my mom and brother’s birthday(that’s right… they share a birthday!!). Even on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was packed and we had a 30 minute wait. This was my second time here, but the first had actually been a few years ago. The restaurant itself has an open layout with neon lights all around and quite loud. Our server, Eugene, was really nice, but seemed to lose track of time… he was rather slow in taking our order, bringing our check, etc. There’s actually quite a bit going on in the menu — a full menu of appetizers and small plates and a second menu just for sushi. We ordered an appetizer, 4 rolls, and some salmon sashimi. The standouts were definitely the appetizer(of which I, sadly, cannot remember the name, but it was thinly sliced tuna sashimi with some kind of sauce and jalapeños…really yummy!) and the salmon sashimi because the fish was so fresh. The rolls were just ok, but nothing to write home about. For dessert, we had mango mochi ice cream, red bean ice cream, and tempura green tea ice cream. All of those were super delish! We also shared some sake and I had a Moscow mule. They were both just ok… sadly, they were rather watery for my taste. I’d come back to try more of their hot foods because those looked good and inventive, but I’d probably skip the rolls next time.

This is a quality sushi restaurant and bar. Planted a couple blocks down the street Santana Row, this place is a prime to have dinner in San Jose/Campbell. The fish was fresh and the rolls were pretty tasty. We ordered a couple of the signature rolls.(View pictures) but the best dish was a Cajun sashimi dish. A twist to sashimi that was very enjoyable. Not the best sushi you’ll find in town but a good option for lunch/dinner. Overall: will return if I’m in the area and looking for sushi.
