This is a really nice little place. The square footage is a bit small, but there are lots of goodies packed in here! There is a great selection of fresh produce and of good quality, plus lots of great typically Mexican-style treats like chili tamarind rolls, butterscotch-type candy and Mexican pastries. I got one of those gingerbread pigs — very nicely and attractively browned and good ginger flavor. There is a great selection of Mexican soft drinks in those thick bottles and lunch-size flans and rice puddings. Displayed out side the store are racks of milk candies and other similar things.

Attention Mexicanos near the 95123! I spotted a carnicería around the corner from Chuck E. Cheses on Kooser(past Almaden Costco). Got me some non-prepared Arrachera for $ 4.99 /lb. and 2 avocados at .89cents/each. I’ll have to compare with Mercado California on Monterey price-wise, but the place itself doesn’t compare. It’s small, about a fifth the size of the renovated Mer. CA. So nothing to rave about yet. Going to grill the arrachera later so I’ll let you know later if the small dive is worth the price.
