I love this spot. The service is excellent. Mangoneadas are my absolute favorite. They always satisfy my cravings with just the right amount of sauce to ice cream to mangos. :) Loyal customer in San Jose!

Seriously some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had! And I’m not exaggerating! I never would’ve found this place, but I ran into a friend at church who suggested that we catch up over ice cream, and I’m so glad that we did. She lives in the neighborhood, so she’s knows what’s good. We got to the restaurant around 8:30pm on a Monday evening, and there were a few other groups there — a family with young kids, people on their own, and a couple in their 30s. The shop feels accessible to lots of different kinds of people. The shop is in a Latino neighborhood, and the workers welcomed us nicely — I’m Asian, and my friend is Black. One of the workers, Israel, helped out my friend and me. He was really nice and went out of his way to make nice conversation with us, asking about my home in Hawaii and sharing some about his family. Service is a big deal to me, so it’s a major plus that both the service and food were good here. My friend really likes the mangonada — a cup of mango sherbert with chunks of fresh mango and a straw of chile. I tried some, and it was fresh, refreshing, and spicy. I opted for a cup of two scoops of ice cream. The guava ice cream really tasted like guava! And the dried fruit(fruta seca) ice cream was amazing! It was creamy and had just the right texture. I’m not often in San Jose, but I guarantee the next time I’m in the area, I’ll be back to this place!

I got 3 mangonadas, bionico, fruiti-raspa — all for less then $ 29! They stay open late for those movie nights, and the girls who work there are super nice and fast!

This place is great! I love their guava and gansito ice cream, all of the popsicles, and their waffles! The employees are always nice and and answer any questions without hesitation. They have a small, 5 car parking lot, but we always manage to find parking on the street within a block of the ice cream shop when the lot is full.

Went in for some popsicles aka«Paletas.» Good stuff. The guy behind the counter was helpful and with an old Ice cream parlor feel and service.

Wow! I can’t wait to come back. So many different options here from ice cream to popsicles to shaved ice treats. We shared a coconut raspa with fruit on top and took two popsicles to go. Sadly they didn’t have any fresh strawberries for my first choice and I wasn’t super impressed with the melon on top of our drink, but the coconut raspa and touch of cinnamon on the fruit was delicious. I had the coconut popsicle recently and it was full of coconut shavings. Can’t wait to go back, though at $ 2 a pop I probably won’t get as many as I’d like :)

I love this place. A coworker introduced me to this place when they first opened. I got a raspado de guayaba. They give you a lot of ice and plenty of sweet syrup. They ask if you want Lechera(condensed milk). So, if you want to sweet up that raspado with that deliciousness you can let them know. The raspado hit the spot on a hot day after work. I’ve been coming here ever since. The place is clean and has a good amount of tables. I will say that this place gets full on weekends and probably after church on Sundays. This place can get crowded so dont come here if you are in a hurry. The family who runs this place are awesome! They are super sweet and inviting. Great Customer service. I recommend the following: –Mangonada –Fruitraspa con Guayaba –Agua de Fresa

I usually don’t leave any reviews but I thought I’d leave one because I love this place! One of the best neverias I’ve seen. If I had the new money to spend I would definitely come here every day. The owners work there too and they’re lovely people, always friendly and very kind. Would definitely recommend coming here.

Horrendous parking. Total, complete nightmare when they are busy. On the flip side, their desserts are totally worth the wait. During my first visit, i ordered a fresada, mangonada, and raspados. All three were freaken amazing. I cannot wait to return to try out their different agua frescas.

I love love LOVE their mangoneada over all the places I’ve tried in San Jose. This place is now in competition with the one in San Diego, but I’m quite satisfied and thoroughly happy I can have it any time I wish! They usually have a long line out the door but luckily the day the beau’s mom took us here, it was pretty empty. I, of course, got the mangoneada with extra chamoy! The mango is SO crunchy, which I love! The mango ice cream isn’t too sweet. I was able to put left overs in the fridge and ate it the next day. It was just as good and mangoes were still firm. Amazing! They also let you sample any ice cream flavor you want. This might sound weird, but try the corn! It is soooo good! I was delightfully surprised at how good corn ice cream could taste. I can’t wait to go back for more! CASHONLY

Move over Jamba Juice, Yogurtland, and all you Boba places, this is the hot spot in San Jose for true Mexican style ice cream, yogurt, and assorted desserts/beverages!!! La Original Paleteria Y Neveria where have you been all my life?!? I stumbled upon this place one day while I was at Metro Balderas Taqueria. I noticed the line was out the door on a weekend so I just had to peep out what all the fuss was about. You walk in and the menu is pretty diverse with ice cream flavors ranging from cheese, cappuccino, corn on a cob, egg nog, mango, bubble gum, nanche, I mean I can go on and on with the ice cream flavors but wait… they have more. They have your normal banana splits to their yummy waffle ice creams, but then they also have this thing called Fruit-Raspi which is assorted fruit dipped in yogurt milk and it is mmm mmm delish-ious!?! The one thing they are famous for is their Mangonada, I’ve had it before at other places and I can’t wait to come back here and try theirs. They also have Agua Frescas and interesting items like Tostilocos and Pepino Split. So if you ever get tired of having balls in your mouth all the time from the those boba places or are looking for a change of pace from places like Yogurtland/Tutti Frutti, then you definitely need to give this place a visit so bookmark it yo!!!

Welcome to the Places-To-Go-For-Dessert rotation, La Original! In search of something sweet after whipping up some Tacos at home, the lady and I headed to La Original for the first time ever – thanks for the heads up, fellow Unilocalers. After parking across the street and walking into the shop, we were admittedly overwhelmed by the amount of flavors of Paletas y Helado available. We knew for sure that we wanted a Mangonada, because of course. And while that was being made, we decided on a Paleta to go with it. The lady behind the counter basically recommended every flavor, so we didn’t have any help narrowing our options down. Oh well. We eventually decided on Rice Pudding and I couldn’t be any more happy with the decision. It was awesome… and perhaps even better than the Mangonada! Can’t wait to go back and try all the other flavors… which will likely take at least a few years to accomplish. #optionsfordays

Love love love this place!!! This is my 4th time and brought 3 different group of friends. The Magonada is the best! Combination of salty, sweet, sour and hint of spice that is very authentic and delicious! The ice creams are so good as well! It has real ingredients in it! Exotic flavors like Guava, Sour sop and other Mexican flavors are so worth it to try. We will definitely go back! We are so lucky that it is less than a mile from where we live! Goodbye Willow Glenn Creamery and Pink Berry! This is now our ice cream place!!!

My friend and I came here specifically looking for the Mangonada. He’s never had it before and wanted to give it a try. The Mangonada here comes with some sort of sorbet/ice cream instead of the slush that I’ve had somewhere else before. Personally, I prefer the slush but the sorbet/ice cream was still nonetheless delicious. They are definitely not skimpy on the fruit, so you get your moneys worth($ 5). Everyone else here was getting ice cream, so that might be worth a try. As an FYI, this place is cash only. Also, be prepared to look for parking as the lot is tiny.
