friendly staff, typical asian dessert place. Good stuff! They accept card and is a good alternative if you go to Bambu next door and don’t have cash haha

Literally love this small mom and pop café. I didn’t know that Vegan food could actually be satisfying and filling! I usually come here on my breaks, and when I come in I always get greeted with a smile. The owners are really sweet and accommodate your needs(one of the reasons I keep coming back!). Their service is quick, depending on what food you order, of course. I’m in love with their Happiness smoothie, since I love mango, pineapple, and coconut milk! Not too sweet and not too fruity. I recently found a new fascination with their Hawaiian Hibiscus Green Tea! It’s slightly sweet and also refreshing. Food wise, I enjoy their avocado rolls! That’s a must order. I’ve also ordered their Pesto w/grilled strips spaghetti occasionally, or the crispy nuggets. Those are my usual go-tos. It’s not a cheap eat kind of place, but it is vegan/vegetarian food. On the plus, I do feel satisfied and full when I finish a meal.

The name itself justifies the taste of the food here period. Me and my friend order the Avocado rolls, crispy nuggets, ocean melt and the banana split. Everything tasted awesome and people here are pretty generous and a decent ambience for a little place. Looking forward to visit again

I love this place so much! it’s such a great alternative to other dessert places because the lack of dairy and healthier options doesn’t leave you feeling gross afterwards :) The owner is seriously the sweetest person ever and their menu is actually HUGE. So much to choose from. My favs so far are the avocado rolls and their shaved ice. Yummmm, not to mention those vegan snacks taste way better than I would’ve ever expected. While typing this review I’m already excited to go back for more!

Quite possibly the best smoothie I’ve ever had! This place is located in the tightly-packed Pacific Rim plaza in North San Jose. It’s located next to Bambu, but Happiness Café is so much better than Bambu. The Happiness Smoothie, which is mango, pineapple and coconut is delicious. Definitely worth adding the boba pearls for $ 0.50! The smoothie was amazing – not too much fruity taste, not too much coconut milk flavor – it was just right! The boba pearls also had a distinct taste, that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Very tasty though! Their smoothies are a bit more expensive($ 4.25) than milk teas($ 3.25). Overall, prices are very reasonable. They also have lots of vegan food and ice cream options. Great little shop with nice people :) AND they accept credit cards!

After dinner, everyone wanted to go to grab a dessert drink. While everyone went next door, I went to Happiness Café. I’m not a big fan of sweet drinks. I stopped by Saturday, April 16th around 8:30pm. I ended up getting a cold Black tea with Pearl and Grass jelly, 0% sweet.(I may have also gotten Coffee jelly, but I can’t remember.) I liked the tea. It was strong and flavorful. The boba was soft and chewy while the grass jelly was nice and silky. The sweetness from the boba gave my tea the perfect amount of sugar. I don’t really like my drinks sweetened. The cashier was really nice. She thanked me for telling her the sweetness I wanted. I guess most people don’t say anything and send back their drinks? We all sat outside at a table and just hung out for the next hour or so. It was beautiful night. Perfect weather for chilling outside and catching up. So glad I found this shop. I wouldn’t have been able to grab an after dinner drink otherwise.

I’ve been looking for a good ginger milk tea for a long time, and the last time I had a great tasting one was in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. This one was as close as I got so far! Also ordered a hot Tofu dessert with the sweet glutinous rice balls which was good too. I’ll definitely return!

The soy ice cream is a boon for little ones with lactose intolerance. It’s heartbreaking taking a child somewhere for dessert when 90% of the stuff they can’t consume. Happiness Café gave a child a rare chance to eat ice cream with their soy ice cream selections. Kudos to them for offering it and kudos for them for offering vegan selections. There seems to be a lack of vegan options and Happiness Café fills that void. Truly, thank you.

After eating so much KBBQ at Gen on Tuesday, we just wanted something sweet. Happiness Café sounded like the place to go. When first walking through the doors, I was hit by their fan right above the door. It just took me by surprise, but it was on quite high. Once you’re inside, the place has a weird smell to it. Looking around, you can see a lot of cat décor around so I thought it was supposed to smell like cats??? I don’t have cats so I wasn’t too sure if that’s what it smelled like. I just know it wasn’t something I wanted to stand in. I ended up ordering a hibiscus green tea. The boyfriend ordered a jasmine milk tea. After ordering, we stood outside where the smell wasn’t lingering. The lady proceeded to take more orders before started to make everyone’s orders. I wasn’t too sure if she was working alone or if someone just wasn’t helping out. I thought my hibiscus green tea was good with flavor. Tried my boyfriend’s jasmine milk tea and it tasted extremely watered down. He was super bum about that the rest of the night, but had to finish it since we bought it. They have stamp cards with cute cat stamps, which is good. But this place is also far from me, so not too sure if I’ll be making my way back here.

Best Vegan café for choice. Tried Pesto Spaghetti and Avocado rolls. Wondered about their Vegan Icecream. But vegan ice cream is too filling. Cant eat more than 2 spoons. But tastes very same as regular icecream.

This is one of the cutest mom and pop stores I have ever been to! The cute little Chinese lady who owns it is too adorable. She’s always super chipper and really good at convincing you to order a lot l o l. I tried one of her suggestions and ordered the iced taro milk tea! It definitely was different that what I had expected. There was fresh taro chunks in it and it was the perfect sweetness. I found my new drink! If I’m ever in the area for Gen, Poke House or grocery shopping, I’m definitely heading back here for the fresh taro milk tea! Parking can be packed because of popular restaurants and dessert places here.

Are you vegan, lactose intolerant, or just want to try something different? Happiness Café might be the place for you. It’s probably the only place in San Jose where someone can get a vegan taro milk tea and many more vegan milk tea options. Overall, my taro milk tea was pretty good, not too sweet, and barely any ice which is what I like. However, it is a little watery because there’s no dairy in it. I also had pearls included with my drink which cost 65 cents more. I told the cashier«no pearls» but she made me pay more even. Even if the pearls are only 15 cents more than other milk tea places, they’re not worth. Honestly, it’s better to go to any other milk tea place and get any drink without milk.

I ordered the noodle soup, avocado roll, and tofu hua with almond jelly and rice balls! The noodle soup was super flavorful and I honestly couldn’t tell there was no beef in it. I even liked the chewy texture of the artificial beefs! I also took my order to go and was really impressed by how this was packaged — the soup was packaged by itself with the noodles and pickled vegetables separate so that the food wouldn’t be too soggy! Also the portion size is like 1.5 meals. Excellent! The avocado rolls — the reason I came here — were not as good as I expected. I personally found the roti wrapping to be a bit greasy for a food item I thought would taste super fresh and healthy. They were indeed packaged with avocados though and I enjoyed the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I had a leftover roll for breakfast the next day and enjoyed it more as a «dirty» breakfast food. I ordered the hot tofu dessert for my post-supper sweet. Super filling!!! A blob of soft silken tofu in a hot sweet gingery syrup, YUM! And I enjoyed the almond jellies and the rice balls in it too. I probably would ditch the almond jelly next time since the flavor doesn’t match that much … Wonder if I can get 2x the rice balls? Definitely enjoyed my experience!!! I will return the next time I need to take revenge against the BF for some reason or other. He hates the idea of eating vegan food hehe.

Thanks to my vegan friend… my mind is now blown! This place can make vegan look easy. Or taste easy. If I ever plan to turn to the other side, I’d probably come here on a weekly basis for snacking. I’d order the Crescent Roll again. The vegan dog inside the croissant-like breading was just like any normal pig in a blanket. Their Avocado Roll is another snack that I’d frequent. It tasted healthy in a good way… thanks to the flaky and buttery crust. Their spring rolls were pretty average, but since they were filling, I’d add them to the list too. Phish and Chips had me at Phish. I was so impressed that the taste and texture of the phish was exactly like fish. Fries, on the other hand, we’re just okay. Vegan or not, on any given day, I would come back for their hot Ginger drink… great when I’m sick and great for the voice. The spicy sweetness of this drink reminds me of Salabat, a ginger root drink from my childhood. For dessert or breakfast, I’d return for their Hot Tofu dessert dish with red beans and almond jelly. My NY resolution is to be more healthy, eat healthy and keep active. This place is all organic, lactose-free, MSG-free, and cholesterol-free. I guess I’ll be stopping by more often this year.

Omg what a wonderful surprise finding this spot!!! Came here after craving some ice cream for dessert and found this place was the closest. The parking lot was a big ol mess, the walk is like walking to costco. But right upon coming in, INSTANTLY the service was charming, welcoming, and delightful! Not only am I lactose intolerant, I also have been on a vegan journey on and off for about two years now. I thought, what the heck, i wonder if they have any vegan ice cream here?(while also at the same time reading the sign above the ice creams that say«no dairy») i asked, and she said EVERYTHINGHEREISVEGAN! WHAAAAAAAT It wasnt even my intention to end up at a vegan dessert place but i was sooo happy i did! I picked up the mint chip ice cream which tasted amazing with a gummy sort of texture. I love the vibes of this place and the service was definitely 5 stars and more. I already want to come back to try the rest of the menu!!! Youll definitely be seeing me back here. First thing im definitely going to try is the noodle soup!

Always such a pleasant treat coming here… The staff are all vegetarian/vegan, and they’re all so nice! The food is pretty good too. I didn’t like the pasta as much as the tuno sandwich though. The avacado rolls definitely deserves an honorable mention! I love the wrap, it’s so crispy and flakey… Very light. It can get a little messy, but it’s worth it!

Tofu dessert here isn’t what you expect. Texture was mushy and not silky, tasted like it was sitting out for a while and presentation was unappetizing. Not to mention, the lady had her bare thumb on the rim of the cup super unsanitary and disturbing to eat after that. Rose milk tea: tasty and flavorful, but way too sweet for my liking.

We came to this boba place because it was right next to Gen and we wanted to get drinks and hangout while we waited to be seated. I came in here thinking it was the usual boba type shop in SJ. Ended up finding out this place is an all complete vegan and organic boba shop. I’m pretty much a milk tea person. Pretty hard to make milk tea with milk since it’s not vegan. I didn’t know that when I ordered my taro milk tea. It tasted completely different than what I was used to. Weird to complain about something being fresh, but I think this was too fresh for my taste. The taro was definitely fresh but it was still pretty chunky. It just didn’t taste like what I was used to, but if you’re into that, then go for it. I think it wasn’t sweet enough for me either. Overall, this place is good if you like super fresh(like actual chunky fruity milk teas) drinks or even non-milk teas. If you love the typical milk teas, I wouldn’t recommend coming here.

Happiness Café is located in a very busy plaza that has Gen, Ranch 99, Bambu Desserts, and many other shops so it has quite a bit of competition. My hubby drove me here for lunch on a Friday so the plaza was PACKED. We were lucky enough to find parking, but cars were circling around like sharks. Then again, it was lunch hour, so the crowd was to be expected. The minute we walked through, we were cheerfully greeted by the owner who was very welcoming and very sweet. She helped us choose what we wanted and had this big smile on her face that really set the mood for the rest of our lunch date. The establishment itself is actually quite small with only about five or six tables on the inside and some out front. You first order at the cash register(they provide menus there) and then someone will bring the food out to you. There aren’t too many options, but there are a variety of categories since Happiness Café serves food, milk teas, ice cream, and smoothies. At first, we didn’t know this place was known for its vegan food. My hubby was a little hesitant to try it at first, but he was a good sport and chose the ocean melt(which actually had real tuna) and I chose the BLT(vegan style). For our drinks, he got the mocha frappé and I got the black milk tea with no additional topping. We grabbed a table near the door and it took about five minutes for us to get our drinks and food. The milk tea was pleasantly sweet. It was obvious that it was made with real tea and was very refreshing for the heat that day. My hubby’s mocha frappé was more on the coffee side than chocolate, which he actually liked because it had a stronger flavor. As for our sandwiches, they were already cut in half so we traded half with each other. The ocean melt was very creamy, but it was well balanced when paired with the toasted wheat bread. The BLT was interesting since I’ve never had vegan bacon before, but I can’t say I hated it. My hubby, on the other hand, didn’t know what to say about the taste; although, he did say he wasn’t too fond of the mushy texture. Each plate of sandwiches came with chips and a cup of salsa. The salsa was very watered down, but it did have some spice to it. We left feeling full, but we can’t say the food was amazing. Service wise, the owners are incredibly nice and make you feel quite comfortable. Drinks are pretty good, so maybe next time we’ll just stop by for dessert instead of for lunch.

I’d come here all the time if I lived closer. What a friendly set of owners. They are sweet and super helpful when it comes to ordering! We ordered the Happiness smoothie(coconut, mango, pineapple) — tasted like the real deal. Was not as sweet as usual smoothies, but still delicious. Also ordered the Avocado rolls due to high Unilocal suggestions! THESEAREAWESOME! flakey, crispy and so fresh.
