I think I’ve been spoiled with many of the more well-known food truck options in the city(KoJa, Curry Up Now) but this has got to be one of the worst experiences in recent memory. My office building has paired up with Moveable Feast as a lunch option so a food truck would come on site every Thursday, and in its debut, H. Butler. If this was any indication of future choices, I’m staying far, far away. Wasn’t feeling particularly hungry but ended up going with the fish and chips option. I mean… it’s pretty simple and pretty much impossible to mess up right? Man, I was completely off point… not only was the fish cut into tiny pieces, but it was completely over-fried. It was a struggle to bite down and breaded heavily you really couldn’t taste the fish. A total miss… the fries weren’t anything spectacular either with no seasoning or salt. Meh. Avoid at all costs…

Had a tri-tip /ribs combo plate with mild BBQ. The tri-tip was extremely dry(and frankly didn’t even taste like tri-tip). The 2 tiny pieces of rib that came in an $ 18(!!) dish were really disappointing, and the fries were soggy. +1 star for the friendly service, but will not be visiting again.

3.5 stars for the sandwich and 1 star for the strawberry lemonade. The pull pork bbq sandwich is pretty good, not too dry and their sauce(mild) was tasty. Although my friend who is usually good with spicy food couldn’t finish her sandwich because the spicy bbq sauce was way too spicy. The overall 2 stars rating is because: For $ 5 strawberry lemonade I am expecting it to be made out of fresh strawberries and real lemon… but nope! The drink was neon red(not even pink) and you can immediately taste the fake syrup they used to make the drink. $ 5 for a cup of water and fake syrup is just insane.

World’s WORSTBBQ. The coleslaw is soupy and salty. The potato salad tastes more like a pickle than a potato salad. The tri-tip looks like dog food and tastes like overcooked pot roast. The mac and cheese was a greasy mass of noodles that stuck together with very little cheese. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

After hearing all the excitement we my to try out this place only to be somewhat disappointment. The owner chatted with us, since we arrived between the lunch and dinner crowd, but we were appalled that he just bad mouthed his competition(who had already closed his business and actually did have the best BBQ in our area for years) and we were equally disappointed in the lackadaisical service afterwards, the cold entrée and the nearly ice cold mac n cheese sides. My wife does not like cold entrees, preferring then piping hot or at least very warm but what they served us was completely disappointing. Thinking it was a bad day we trod again during the same quiet time and this time I watched them throw our meals into the microwave. Dude, if I want microwave food I’ll go to the supermarket and microwave it myself. I could see that there is a possibility of good flavor in the meat but I’m just disappointed and don’t see how more people don’t notice this mediocrity. We also tried their food truck at an event but were just not impressed with the flavor or texture. At these prices I expect yummy gourmet flavors and textures not this indifferently served mediocrity.

It’s a shame that some food trucks can get away with bad food because there aren’t a lot of options and people are hungry. Got the chicken strips and fries(probably not what they’re known for) but the fries were pre-frozen and tasted like paper towels. The chicken strips were kind bland and the ketchup they gave out was some very strange brand. Overall, the very poor quality of this dish for $ 12 had me full of regret. Waited VERY long for food, and it seems like they are not efficient at figuring out how to manage their cooking time. Forgot to give my friend one of his sides because he got so hungry waiting that he forgot about it himself. Unfortunately, friends and I went to Popeyes to redeem our chicken craving even though that’s not much better.

Service is very slow waited over 30 minutes for a tritip sandwich and fries. I understand busy but that’s too long… Actually finally got over an hour between line and wait after ordering. The wait was not worth it. They are trying hard with only 2 people On the truck but it still needs work.

Well, I had asked this food truck along with another truck to come to our business complex to offer the employees of the complex different foods on site instead of having to deal with the long lines in the lunch rush, now mind you I have never done any business with food trucks before, the food truck arrived around 11:00 a.m. like I asked but the first impression i got was needless to say less than satisfactory. When the guy got out of the truck the first thing he said was if i would have known there was going to be another truck i wouldnt have shown up and then proceeded to ask me how many people would be eating and this and that. I apologized and said that this was my first time arranging anything like this and his response was«Oh I was just at Four Seasons and there was at least 88 people there that showed up but Im here now so whatever» There was no hello or any of that until after he let me clearly know that he would not have been here if all the business was not going to be fore himself. I did not eat any of the food because frankly i am not going to give someone business that comes off completely rude and clearly has an ego problem. Top top it off he was asked to stay here until two but left 40 minutes early without saying a word!!! NEVERAGAIN!!!

I have not visited their BBQ restaurant which is apparently closed now, but I did purchase a hot link sandwich and a beef brisket sandwich from their food truck last week. Delicious. We also got a side of mac n’ cheese for my 3 ½ year old daughter which she loved. I got my sauce spicy and it was perfect. My husband enjoyed the mild. The best part about my experience though was the people working the truck. They were sweet and generous, patient while my daughter tried to articulate her order and remember to say please. They also gave us extra hot link just because. I will visit their truck again!

2 stars because the food was edible and the workers seemed genuinely nice and friendly. 1 star for the dish I tried, today’s special, the Jambalaya(queue horror music). $ 10. Few things that I have a gripe with: 1. Taste — extremely salty. I got the special, so it’s possible they just threw in a bunch of things together they had excess of or chicken and sausage that was nearing shelf life expiration. Either way, I now have to drink at least a gallon of water. 2. Price — my Jambalaya«special» was $ 10. This was actually the cheapest item on the menu. My co-worker got a pulled pork plate that included corn bread & a side(he got fries) for $ 12 — it was better than my Jambalaya, but not by much. Fries were weirdly soggy. 3. Portions — If I had liked it, I would have needed more. If you’re going to charge me $ 10 for a cup of Jambalaya, at least be really delicious, or give me $ 10 amount of Jambalaya. They literally poured me 1 cup’s worth of Jambalaya(picture included). I couldn’t even finish the«whole» cup worth anyway because it was so salty. This will be my first and last time eating at this establishment. *chugs water*

My husband had the jambalaya, and I chose to eat at another which I regret now. The jambalaya was amazing!!! I went back and ordered the homemade banana pudding for dessert AMAZING. Everything was amazing! Should I come across this truck again I will be making it a priority.

First– I do not know the owners and this is my first dealing with H. Butler food truck(came to our business in Pleasanton). I had the chicken plate with Mac and cheese. Wow! Both were awesome! Went with the mild sauce and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The Mac and Cheese was some of the best I have ever had — really! Give this food truck a chance — I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I got the brisket plate with green beans and corn bread. The brisket was really good. The sauce was nice and spicy, how I like it. The green beans were exactly how I like my green beans at a BBQ place — porky and smokey! The corn muffin was awesome! Not too sweet, with a good amount of fluffiness. I would definitely order again from them. Oh and I saw a few people complained that it was premade. That didn’t bother me because BBQ is almost always premade. The food takes so long to cook that it is hardly MTO but likely dressed up to order :).

The best part of this truck is the staff. They are so nice and sweet! The BBQ chicken is good, but the Mac n cheese is my favorite! My friend had the ox tail and also really enjoyed it. They are opening a restaurant soon and I’m excited to go and see their full menu!

Probably should have gotten a bbq plate, but I was craving a burger and fries. And I was disappointed. Nothing special. The hamburger patty had potential, but it was so small I didn’t really get to enjoy it. Everything else about the burger was generic. I could’ve made it myself for way less. Nothing special. Also ordered a side of Mac and cheese, which, for 6 bucks was a fat disappointment also. I mean, it was tasty, but my disappointment was that it was not warm. So it was probably premade and not even stored in something to keep it warm. And it was SMALL. Like a scoop’s worth. I paid 6 bucks for that?! It also took FOREVER to get our order. I honestly think they forgot it or messed up and someone else got our order. I was tempted to cancel the burger and order something else, but I was listening to the lady telling another customer what they were out of. And it pretty much sounded like everything. They also seemed understaffed. Only one cook and one cashier who didn’t seem to be able to help cook. We were there for 20 minutes and at any given time there was 5+ people waiting for their order. Next time, I should listen to my instincts. The other food truck that was there(that review will come Next week when I try them!) served at least 7 or 8 people before we got our food.

10÷8÷14: My review here is based on a single order, so keep that in mind. Other stuff might be better. But what I had was not good, especially given the price. 1. Tri-Tip Sandwich $ 11: Yes, $ 11. For $ 11 that better be one hell of a sandwich. And unfortunately, no, it was not. What you get: a 6″ long roll, diced/sliced tri-tip, sauce(hot or mild). The roll itself was good being warm and fresh tasting. The«hot» version sauce was typical in flavor and did have plenty of kick. The meat… looks like it amounts to about one 1/3″ slice off a tri-tip roast. Most pieces were super dry. Some others were more tender, moist, and flavorful. I assume those good pieces were more in the center of the roast meat vs the outer regions. As we all know, good tri-tip should be medium-rare, and this was closer to super well-done. But overall, not good tasting meat, and very little of it to boot. $ 11 is waaaaaayyyy too much for this. They need to check out their competitors that have far more tender and tastier meat for far less. 3⁄10 The people seem really nice. And I feel bad for this. But, bottom line is that the food must be good at least to get a decent rating. 1⁄5. Maybe if I try this again, some other dish of course, and it wows me, then I’ll update the review and up the score.(They did have a smoked chicken sandwich for $ 7, which might have potential given its more reasonable price, but they didn’t have it this day… hmm) If the sandwich was $ 8 instead of $ 11, maybe a 2⁄5. But this is how it goes… #truck #bbq #tritip #american #americanbbq

I have to admit that the low ratings on Unilocal have kept me from their brick and mortar. I dont know if the ratings do reflect the business but it certainly doesnt apply to their truck. Co workers wanted BBQ so we headed out to find them. Co workers enjoyed their pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad. I opted for the BBQ beef sando and a strawberry lemonade. It was tasty! sauce has some spice, beef had good texture and flavor. Totally hit the spot. Now I think Ill have to brave the store. Ive braved places before with low ratings and have often some good surprises while bucking the overall consensus
