Joie de Vivre hotels are great little finds with passion for serving customers and out-of-the-box thinking on guest amenities. The Domain hotel is no exception, and I dote on it frequently. However, Bytes needs some help. The bar has a great selection of wine and the usual array of spirits, and the bartenders are friendly and capable. Due to the size of the hotel the hours of service are limited, and it’s usually deserted. So while it’s not bad for a glass of wine after dinner out, it isn’t where you’d choose to hang out while staying at the hotel. As is, the bar would net 3 stars on its own, 4 if there were other people around to make it more fun. The café is very limited in service, with a so-so breakfast buffet offered to guests of the hotel. I would rather pay fifteen bucks for a great omelet than get that buffet for free, so I usually skip out or just take a couple boiled eggs to go. The hotel management is aware of the limitations of the café and seems to have something in the works to improve it in the first quarter of 2013, so I’ll re-review after whatever happens, happens.

Free American breakfast coming with the hotel stay. Egg came with a weird smell. Had some good yogurt and potato.

I have free breakfast in most of the hotel I stay. This one have similar food but they charge you, quite expensive. Menu & price are posted everywhere, elevators, hall way, hotel media… Egg tastes like egg, sandwiches like sandwiches, but they cost $ 12.95! I have had better & free.

Beers in stock include Corona, Heineken, Gordon Biersch, and Sam Adams. Breakfast buffet includes cereal, danishes, and eggs. Caesar and chopped salads come in two sizes. Cocktails cost $ 9 – 22. I had to get my small order black truffle-salted fries($ 2.95) boxed because I couldn’t finish it. I didn’t have room for the dark chocolate genoise cake I was planning to get for dessert. I thought I’d order a sandwich [Bytes BLT] but the dining room was empty. Most of the starters are fried. Non-alcoholic beverages include Coke, diet Coke, root beer, and Sprite. Other plates on the menu are chicken fettuchine, hoisin BBQ-glazed pork ribs, pineapple teriyaki salmon, and spice-rubbed filet tail. Spaghetti puttanesca is bland if not for the anchovies and olives. The 6″ pizzas(margherita, monochrome and pepperoni) seem more appropriate for in-room dining. They carry cabernet and zinfandel. There was only one person in the bar. They had my entrée out in less than 15 minutes.
