I would have rated this place better if not for my last eating experience here. Was told there were store policy changes because«customers were eating too much». Why have an open bar for the pita if you dont want your customers to fill up? it is not possible to fill out a pita in the narrow paper holder they give plus it will all fall out by the time you reach your table. When we asked for a plate or basket to hold the fpita in we were told that they are not supposed to give them. The bowl by weight is also in my opinion not a good value. Last time i used a Groupon and have a feeling was overcharged for my bowl but no receipt was given to me. I know this coz the time before that i got more food and falafel balls and the weight was less. They are now charging for the sauces they used to serve on the side(tahini, harissa, vinaigrette) in those plastic little cups by weight. Any falafel place in the bay area(and i’ve been to many) serves sauces free on the side. This place will lose its customers if they try to nickle and dime them.

The sriracha fries were to die for. When I ordered this for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect. I thought that it would be fries tossed in sriracha sauce. This was totally different. He tosses the fries in some dry spicy seasoning served with vegan garlic mayo. I get their fries any time I am at Saratoga

Located in Westgate mall, Falafel Bar always looked intriguing when I would pass by. We ordered the falafel bowls. They prepare the falafel in the back while you pile items from the toppings bar in your container. I added hummus, the baba so good(baba ganoush), and sambal with some tabbouleh and some brown rice mixed with the same ingredients they use in the tabbouleh. There are cucumbers, olives, onions, and other veggies to add to your bowl. After you are done adding the vegetables and sauces in your bowl, they put the number of falafel you want in your bowl and weigh it. It is $ 8.75 a pound and mine came out to be $ 9ish. They also serve regular French fries and garlic fries. We ordered the garlic fries and they were ok. Honestly because everything else is super garlicky, you might as well get the regular fries. I dipped my fries in my hummus and I couldn’t believe that I found myself wanting pita over garlic fries. The fries weren’t bad, but I just wanted some pita to go with my bowl. Overall, it was pretty good if you don’t mind the work of serving yourself. There were parts like the brown rice that I would definitely pass on the next time, but I did like the falafel and the hummus.

This is the best vegan /vegetarian place in town(that I’ve been to)!! Really great falafel ball, get the pita and load it up! Super nice staff, $ 6.50 for a ton of food. It’s in the west gate mall next to smash burger. If go out of my way to go into this small mall to eat here. Brand new and a simple menu. Must eat!

This place has an extremely simple menu, falafel wrap and garlic fries period! But as simple as the menu is, the food is extremely tasty as well. You simply order the falafel wrap and put on whatever topping you wish with a selection of various vegetables, hummus, pickled peppers, etc. The combination will leave you satisfied absolutely. For a quick bite and snack place, this place is not bad at all! It is even conveniently located next to Gong Cha for snacking purposes, in the same square as the Target, Gap and other shopping stores.

The falafel is delicious, and if you can bear how messy it gets, you can put unlimited toppings on your pita. Or, you can opt for the bowl which gets priced by weight, and is definitely the neater way to eat your meal. The garlic fries are amazing! I’m pretty sure you get a free meal after 5 purchases, which is super exciting. Definitely recommend for a quick but tasty lunch.

After satisfying my gongcha craving, the scent of garlic fries was in the air… Gotta follow scent to… Falafel bar??? Price: They price per pound which is pretty neat at about $ 8.75/lb for their bowls. We opted for their delicious fries($ 2.50) and 2 pieces of falafel($ 1.20). The owner is super cool and asks if you’re a student for a 20% discount. Parking: Mall lot Food: Fries were bomb, falafel was bomb. Next time, i’ll come with a bigger appetite for pita! Service — Friendly!

I recently tried this place and it was ok. I say ok because the flavor of the food was good, but they use microwaves to warm their food, and I personally don’t enjoy microwaived food. The toppings bar was full and had a lot of options, that was a plus. If you want something quick and semi healthy this is a good option for the price!

This is a good spot in the Westgate Center for falafel, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for it. They have a good topping bar and you can fill up your bowl or pita with whatever you want. The ordering is very customized — for a bowl, you tell them how many falafel balls you want and then load up on the toppings and pay by the weight. It’s nice to be able to put what you want in your bowl, and everything is vegan! I also got the fries since they were free with my Unilocal checkin. They’re freshly cut and really yummy! Parking at the mall was an absolute nightmare, but then once I was inside it seemed like barely anyone was there. That part was a bit strange to me.

Mmmm falafel. The falafel here is quite good. Delicious, crispy, yummy on the inside. And, I love the plethora of different sauces you can put on your falafel! Tahini, harissa, etc. You can get bowls or pitas — the pitas come with 3 falafel, and are a flat rate no matter how much hummus/chickpeas/etc. you pile on. If you get a bowl, it’s priced by weight… we’ve gotten the bowl a few times, but figured out that the pita was equally as filling and more economical. The garlic fries here are really garlicky. And huge. $ 4 seems like a lot for fries, but you get a sizeable tray of fries for $ 4. Downside: my breath smelled like garlic hours after we finished eating. Maybe not the most ideal date food.

My family decided to try Falafel Bar tonight. We are all glad we did and will most certainly return. It was delicious. They are in the food court. You can order a bowl, for which they charge by the pound. We all had pita which comes with three falafel. Then they have a salad bar type set up to add the toppings and sauces you enjoy. They have a nice variety of toppings to choose from. It is all vegan, made there, fresh, and organic. They have regular fries and garlic fries. We got some of each to share. Yummy! The sodas are not the usual flavors. I am not a big soda fan, but I really enjoyed these! They give samples of soda and the toppings to try. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and pleasant. We highly recommend Falafel Bar!

I love falafel and thus place has good falafel! Don’t be put off that this is a food court joint. The have a weigh as you want system and I love it as I can chose exactly what I want and how much of it. The hummus and babaghanoush were super authentic and tasty! The falafel hot and fresh with a slight bitterness to it indicating true authenticity. I will be back :)

I always make it a point to stop here because I love their falafels and baba ghanoush. The brown rice salad is also quite tasty. Plus the staff here(and I believe owner!) are super friendly and helpful. I eat gluten free and some places add bread crumbs or flour to their falafels to get them crisp. I can assure you that these falafels are quite crispy and gluten free. I usually get a bowl and mine ends up a little on the heavier side because I get a good amount of baba ghanoush and hummus. However, you can easily make an affordable bowl. I went a little falafel happy one time but you really only need maybe four or five and then fixings of your choice. Love it and will definitely keep coming when I’m in town!

Love this place, first found out about it after I saw they donated a year’s worth of falafel for a cat adoption in San Jose. Cats + Falafel = winning. All vegan, and I believe everything is home/restaurant made. A local/independent restaurant with an entertaining social media presence to boot. Falafel is either a) in a pita(one price) or b) in a bowl, priced by weight. Either way is cheap. They also have fries(and garlic) and artisan sodas. Once you have your falafel, load up on stuff at the little fixin’s bar. I usually get a bowl with spinach, olives, pickles, sambal, etc. A few tables in the food court-ish area to eat at, or if it’s nice go eat outside. This is the best falafel I’ve had in the bay area, always fresh, consistent, and delicious. Check them out!

After going to this nice little open air Restaurant you remember the old Real Estate saying… location, location, location! If they were at Levi’s Stadium, they would have 100 people in line when I showed at high noon with my Bride. there were 4 of us… My Wife & I & their two people working(Total 4)!. The food is GOOD,(I wish there was a 3.5 rating but there is not) …I like their offerings & will be going back… it’s just sooooo slow there & with Smashburger across from them you wonder how they keep the doors open! Worth trying for lunch or afternoon snack

I only tried their falafel and they are quite tasty. On par with flying falafel and Falafel Stop, maybe even better! And their home made tahini and cilantro vinegar dressing is quite good as well. Fresh ingredients td, clean, great service and good value. I’ll definitely return when in the area.

I was so excited when I found Falafel Bar online. From what I could tell they were 100% vegan so dairy free and everything was gluten free except for the pita bread. I decided to give it a try and was excited at first glance when everything looked clean. You have two options either a pita filled with falafel or you fill and box with all your fix-ins from the bar along with how ever many falafels you want. You are then charged by weight for your box($ 8.75 per pound). The lady working that day was extremely helpful and made me feel confident in there procedures in avoiding cross contamination. The pita is basically kept away from everything else and she just told the lady preparing my food to wash up before starting mine. I was excited to find out that the fries were gluten free as well and they even have natural sodas! I ended up getting a box with four falafels, a soda, and fries which were free with my Unilocal check-in. I loved the falafel even though I never have really liked falafel in the past. The fries were delicious as well. The best part was I felt great afterwards and had a huge meal to top it off. I loved all there sauces and different ingredients from the food bar you could add to your box. Even the tabbouleh was gluten free since it was made with quinoa. Such a safe place for anyone with celiac disease and even better for someone with a dairy allergy, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone though!

Your main offerings are 1) pita that comes with 3 falafel or 2) a bowl with as many falafel and toppings as you want. I think the pita is a set price but the bowl is priced by weight. I got the bowl option with 3 falafel, spinach leaves, dollop of babaghanoush, dollop of hummus, and a little bit of rice salad. It would be nice if they offered a few more toppings. I am absolutely not a falafel expert but I thought theirs was great! They claim to make the 3rd best falafel in the world. :) Friendly service as the guy behind the counter patiently explained the menu to me since I was confused. I wanted to try the fries but as it was only me dining, I decided not to. Next time!

Selling enjoyable food by weight! Gotta love that! Plus the garlic fries! So unhealthy… and of course so delicious! It’s very affordable, very convenient,(as long as your counterfeit disabled tag helps you find a parking space)), truly yummy! Truly happening! Falaffel fans!

Falafel was great and fresh. My partner is a falafel fiend and said it was one of the best he has had. They have a lil bar where you can build your own pita or bowl and all of the ingredients in there are tasty and fresh. We both had the pita which was tasty and warm. We also ordered garlic fries which was a super generous portion but unfortunately there was a little too much garlic and parsley and it made the fries a little soggy and gave me killer breath for the rest of the day… darn. The place is super simple and quick due to their limited menu. this is a good thing if you want to grab a quick bite. The line can get really long at lunch but service is quick. Soda selection is strange. wasn’t a big fan of the Kola. similar to the cola that The Melt has. Overall 4* because the falafel was great and it’s a falafel place afterall… next time I will just get the pita or a bowl and that’s it. Yum!

Excited to see that Falafel Bar finally reopened in their new location. Like others have mentioned it’s kind of Chipotle-esque. You place your order at the counter, choose a pita or a bowl and get started on creating your meal through the salad bar. To be totally honest, I think the way the ordering to salad bar to falafel pick-up is a little awkward because you have to go back and forth a bit and then weigh your finished product. It would be a little easier if it flowed a little better cafeteria style, or if someone was making it for you. Definitely get their fries, which are totally awesome. It looks like they used thyme and parsley for the seasoning which tastes so good! Also want to give a shout out for the all natural soda fountain! I definitely enjoyed the Lemon-Berry-Acai flavor, but they all sounded good. If you’re a vegetarian, vegan or just looking to work that #meatlessmonday action this is your spot. Everything is completely vegan! Stop by for lunch after hitting up The Rack or for dinner pre-Target run to keep that stamina up.

Another Chipotle copycat with a twist. It has a simple menu with very fresh ingredients that you pick yourself but this is self-serve! I ordered and paid and then was bummed when the girl behind the counter said I had to make my own falafel pita. They cook the falafels and then you make your own pita or bowl with the falafels. I almost asked for my money back. If I wanted to make myself a pita, I might as well buy the ingredients and make it at home. I’m sure it would be cheaper! Besides, I’m too lazy to make anything!!! Ugh. The falafels were okay, I thought the outside was a little dark but it was cooked well inside. The fries were okay, I wish I went to Smashburger or any other eatery at the mall. I did put together the right ingredients in my falafel pita; hummus, onion, a cous-cous looking thing and other stuff. They should label those ingredients! Heck, maybe they did but I was too freaked out thinking about all the germs that could’ve touched everything! Can they provide gloves if they’re going to make people build their own??? Can they have a sink next to the ingredients to make sure people wash their hands first??? Oh, the girl behind the counter was nice and helpful.

What a great place to grab falafels. You can either choose from the falafel bowl or the pita as a base and customize it to your liking. My boyfriend ended up getting a falafel pita with a cucumber tomato salad, onions with sumac, and hummus. Delicious! Ingredients tasted fresh. We also had some garlic fries(free with Unilocal check in at the time we went), which had a generous amount of freshly minced parsley and garlic. Guy behind the counter was friendly and very helpful. Located across from the Ross and next to Gong Cha in the Westgate Mall, so if you’re in the Westgate Mall, do check this place out. Until next time!

This place has amazing falafel. They were made fresh to order and were crisp and tender. My friend got a bowl and I got a pita. The bowl’s price is calculated by weight and the pita is a flat price. I also got garlic fries with the order thanks to Unilocal! The food tasted amazing and all the toppings seemed fresh. The hummus was amazing! Definitely coming back here again!

It’s a great place to grab a quick lunch. All the topping in the self-serve salad bar are FRESH! They put out smaller portions so they can refill with a fresh batch when needed. Which I prefer rather than seeing piles of food just sitting out for a long time. I checked in and got a free full order of garlic fries as well. The cashier and cook are super friendly so if you’re feeling a little intimidated or curious, just ask :) It’s really straightforward– 1. Pick Pita wrap or Bowl 2. If you pick a bowl– tell the cashier how many falafels you want(average order id 4 – 5) 3. TOOOPPPIIINNNNNGGSSS I like their to-go containers! They’re bio degradable and the lids detach from the bowl! I didn’t get to try the soda, but it looked interesting. Maybe next time

I ordered the garlic fries and it was mushy and limp. Not to mention it was tasteless unseasoned. The fries also tasted like it was fried in really old oil. The cashier refused to give us a printed receipt and instead had us give our phone number or email. Is this allowed? What if I don’t want to give out my information? She didn’t even give us an option to choose paperless or not. Service was subpar and food not great. Would not recommend.

The falafel here is REALLYGOOD. I mean, utterly fantastic. Crispy, moist, savory falafel, cooked beautifully. I’ve eaten falafel a lot of places and I have to say this is one of the best. The falafel is gluten-free too if you care about that. The Falafel Bar is just that – the serve falafel and not a whole lot else. It has a really tiny salad bar where you can dish out hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh and a handful of mediterranean veggies. They serve a couple of other dishes, like fries. The hummus wasn’t anything special, but the baba ghanoush was delicious – a little bit spicy and a smoky flavor. There are two ways to buy the falafel. One way is to buy a pita pocket with 3 falafel and toppings at a flat rate of $ 6.50. The other is to buy a combo of any number of falafel and items from the salad bar, and they charge you by weight. I bought 6 falafel and some hummus and baba ghanoush for about $ 8. This place is a counter inside the West Gate Center, with a few tables in the mall in a food-court atmosphere. Not really much to look at. But if all you want is some great falafel, this is the place to go!

Stumbled upon this new place today while I was doing some last-minute Halloween shopping on my lunch break. It’s pretty simple — order falafel pita or falafel bowl, then self-serve whatever toppings and sides you want. Then they weigh it to check you out at the appropriate price. The food was delicious, convenient, and at the right price. The girl working at the counter was very nice too. The only thing I would suggest to the owner is to have an additional side option of some grilled veggies or something similar. They do have fries(regular or garlic) as a side option but I was trying to practice some self-restraint so I can fit into my Halloween costume. LOL. Stoked to have found a new tasty healthy place to have lunch for not too much money. I’ll definitely be back!
