Thank you, Todd, for the post and for the update; and congrats to you folks on your purchase! I sincerely wish you the best going forward. As I tell my own crews, sanitation isn’t something we do, it’s who we are. You have a truly great restaurant in a great location, and an even greater opportunity. yup, I’ll be back. and very much looking forward to it.

I’ve been going to Emperor Norton’s since they opened. They have always been mediocre Italian food with usually good pizza. Their prices have always been high. Now their prices are higher and it appears that they have begun to change the recipes and not for the good. Tonight I ordered a meat and cheese calzone with extra cheese. I could hardly find the cheese, but they have added Parmesan to the outside. A different taste for sure. Before the new owners, I paid just under $ 10 for this. $ 12.50 today. And still mediocre and little cheese even though they charged extra. Since there was only one table of customers, the new owner had plenty of time to teach a waitress the how and why of upselling. Maybe that training could be done somewhere else? I only go there because I am lazy and it is close. No more. I’m done.

Love Emperor’s! This has been our family place for the last 20 years. We’ve celebrated everything from birthdays to college graduations here. Their pizza is top notch along with the rest of the menu. Love love love the way they have redone the dining area! My family is especially thrilled that they’ve reintroduced thousand island as an option for dressing. Only«complaint» I have is that they offer wifi now, where as I understand that this has become a necessity in our culture, this was one of the last restaurants where you saw people talking to one another opposed to being buried in their phones. Other than that, nothing but great things to say about this neighborhood gem!

The pizza was good, but the service was lacking. Very slow, and the salad came out wrong. We had to send it back.

Absolutely love this place, first time here. The food was amazing kudos to the kitchen staff for my outstanding chicken parmesan and my husband loved his meatball sandwich. The waitress we had explained that she was new to this place which i didnt mind because i know what thats like but thankfully she got the answers to the gazillion questions we asked and was very attentive. Great food and great service. Will definitely be back in here soon!

We went for a family dinner on Friday night, and the food was fantastic! I had the fettucini bolognese, and it was delicious. Just the right amount of spiciness to make it interesting, but not so much to get in the way of the other flavors. The side salad was fresh and crisp, and the bread sticks delicious, too. I’m not a wine connoisseur, so I asked for a recommendation for the red wine, and the owner suggested the sangiovese, which was perfect. Our 13 year old ordered the cheeseburger, which looked amazing, but it did come with condiments already on it, so a lesson learned to check before ordering if you have someone with specific tastes. Of course, all servings were generous, so we had tasty lunch leftovers the next day! This is a great place to bring a family if you want to enjoy a nicer dinner than the usual chain restaurants, and has a friendly, open atmosphere. We will absolutely be going back.

My family and friends have been going here for 40 years. I can get pizza cheap else ware but I would rather have quality. I guess new owner. Picked up my normal 4 large pizzas Friday. We all notice it was not the same. The crust was terrible. We will try one more time. You should not fix what is not broke. Lots of choices to get with pizza. I did not post this when I wrote it. I have gone back and tried it again. Not the same. Mainly the sausage. Before it was New York style out of Sunnyvale. Don’t know what sausage now but not good. Let us know when you go back and we will be back. Todd, Thank you for responding to my review. My wife and I went back by our selves. The pizza and fettuccine was back to the the best any where. Please do not change anything.

Historically I’ve always liked this place, but tonight while waiting for a pizza I watched a guy in the kitchen clean his shoes with a towel, then wipe his hands with it, and put the towel on the counter. Afterwards that guy went and reached for his glass of wine, took a swig, and wrapped up my pizza. Will I come back? I don’t know. If I see that guy there I’ll probably just walk out & stick ‘em with it. I’m not interested in a case of E. coli. Sorry guys, I saw what I saw.

This is a good local Italian restaurant. I usually order the Angel hair special. It can be a bit dark in the restaurant which can make it romantic.

Been coming here for over 8 years now. One of the best places to get Pizza in the Bay Area, and certainly San Jose! Relaxing atmosphere, friendly service, and great food. The prices are fair and the pizza isn’t cheap like the crap from the major pizza chains, you get what you pay for here! We love getting the fresh chopped garlic on our Pizza. Salads are great too. The only thing that sucks is they’re closed on Mondays now. They also have a large banquet room to the right which never seems to be filled, wish they would make that a bar with TV’s, Pizza, and beer!

I’ve been enjoying the Emps as I call it since as long as I can remember. The late 70’s at least. I didnt even know there was other pizza in San Jose until I was at least 9 or 10. I still order the Bummers. My son likes the pizza sandwich which is like a personal pizza with fries. Next time though I’m going stromboli all the way.

The BEST pizza in San Jose! Family owned and operated. We used to frequent the other pizza chains in the area, but we were repeatedly disappointed in the inconsistencies of quality. We tried Emporer Nortons almost a year ago, and have not gone ANYWHERE else since! Their house made dough is fresh and delicious, and they don’t skimp on the toppings either. It may be a bit more expensive(but not by much) than the local chains, but the quality is exponentially better. If you want a true quality pizza, this is the place to go! Our favorite is half ham and pineapple, and half pepperoni and mushroom. But there is a plethora of other options for combination or single toppings, all fresh and delicious!

Amazing Pizza! I’ve been looking for a great pizza place for years and finally found one! Their pies are perfect! We begin with the first bite. Oh, the crunch! And then the marinara. That roiling lava of tomato and oregano — it overtakes you! I’m falling! And that’s… when she catches you. That chewy, voluptuous mistress, mozzarella. Her oven-kissed cheeks crackle with warmth in your mouth, cradling the sauce and the bread, letting you know that from now on… this… is home. This pizza… is home.

Ugh. Overall, bland and uninspired. How difficult can it be to find a solid Italian restaurant in San Jose!!! We tried the chicken parmigiana, lasagna, spaghetti, and pepperoni pizza. Pizza was totally unremarkable and comparable to Pizza Hut. The other entrees were mediocre at best. In a nutshell, the food is edible. Nothing more, nothing less. Can’t say much about the service as we took our order to go.

so, went there to pick up an order of spaghetti and meatballs, with a side order of cheese bread, to go. Two things caught my eye right away… one, the were empty. at 5:30PM, they were empty. Two, the bill was $ 22…in my mind, one is connected to the other. The food did taste quite good, but not $ 22 for past and bread. I really hope they adjust their menu and attract more business so they can be around for awhile.

The two stars are for the cheese ravioli I had last time, otherwise I’d take one away. This ham on this pizza tastes like sore throat spray and the calamari is like gnawing through a tire. There was so much grease it literally poured out of the bag and on to my foot when I took out the food. What’s up with that. On the up side, kids loved the pasta. But I have nothing else to say

Wow, the portions for pasta here is huge! I got the chicken Alfredo and it was practically three meals for me lol. But I love that they give free bread, cause who doesn’t love free bread! I came here with my friends family and we had a big group but thankfully they were able to seat is pretty quick! The server was really nice and helpful!

I got to the restaurant 15 minutes after closing and they still let me in and cooked for me. The lasagna was great.

I was going to this plaza to pick up some stuff from Nob Hill and decided to give this place a try(for a to-go order). We ordered the ravioli and baked rigatoni. It took about 30 minutes for them to make the order and it was nice and hot when we received it. However, I thought this place didn’t really have anything special and it was a bit pricey for the portions that they gave us. They gave us free bread though which was nice. Not sure if I’ll come back here again as there are plenty of better options in the Bay Area for Italian food.

This place was found on Unilocal.Exhausted after driving 6+ hours to get to San Jose, I wanted the closest thing possible to the hotel I was staying in. This place rocks! Very busy on a Friday night, but they managed to seat my party of 3 very quickly. I love that their Chardonnay of choice is LaCrema. Just a little bit nicer then Woodbridge or something of the like. My husband and daughter shared a pitcher of Sierra Nevada. We all started with salads. My only complaint is that they should soak the red onions in ice water for a few minutes to take some of the bite out. They overpowered the salad. The 3 of us shared a combination pizza, and I really liked it. The crust was very crispy! I would eat here again in a moment if ever in San Jose again.
