Came across this place by accident and decided to give it a try. I really liked their egg rolls very delicious, not so dry or oily but crispy as it should be. Had the rice noodles nothing to brag about but it was good, their tofu wasn’t so great it was dry so much that I had to throw away. Their prices are cheap and the place is very small in size and it can be crowded though I got there around 10 in the morning and it wasn’t so bad. Sorry to say, I wouldn’t come back here again.

If your diet is getting a bit heavy and you want a break, try this place! Entirely vegetarian they make use of lots of lemongrass, tofu, mushrooms and the like. My favourite here is their hot and sour soup(NOT the Chinese type). They are a very small place with limited seating. I never eat in, but lots of people take out from here. They also sell lots of food you can throw in the freezer for a rainy day when you don’t wanna cook. They close relatively early though and they sell out quick. If you want a chance at their full selection of items, definitely don’t go late!

Went with my daughter after a orthodontist appointment. So imagine how extra picky and probably grumpy she would be with food. Since she didn’t eat much during school lunch, I told her that we can go buy some food. We initially thought of going to the usual grease fried fastfood chain but I told her that we can go to a vegan place for a change. She agreed and so we went here. The tables seemed new compared to the ones I saw before. They had pictures on the wall and prepared food displayed behind the glass counter. We ordered the udon noodles and fried rice, for $ 7 each. They don’t have soda so we got some canned drinks from the fridge, me taking a guava juice while the kiddo got the thai tea. The drinks were $ 3.50 all in all. Not bad. The food was delicious. Tho it doesn’t look like the ones on the pictures, what we had was tasty and perfectly seasoned. My daughter’s fried rice was very good too. It was a lot for the price and she was really satisfied without the bloated feeling after eating all that carbs. I like my udon which was a vietnamese version of thick glassy noodles; not synonymous to the Japanese kind. It was smooth and gummy which I liked. They also sell dry snacks and sticky rice. They also offer party trays for noodles and lotus salad. When ordering party trays, order about 2 hours ahead of the time, this according to the shop owner. This is definitely a place to visit and try out. I will try their other food. Be warned tho. This can get crowded during lunch since they only have a few tables and chairs for dining. Customers usually just come in and order food to go.

I came to get fresh soy milk here for under $ 3. I actually went to two other places in this plaza first looking for the milk but had no luck. I was about to leave the plaza until I noticed that there was a tofu shop in the exact same plaza! Lucky me. I also bought some coconut banana tapioca dessert that came in a tray. I’ve never seen this Che-like dish served this way before so I found it interesting and bought it. Mom and I heated it up @ home & ate the entire thing in 1 sitting without sharing for it with any other family members. The dessert was delicious & not @ all overly sweet or coconut-y. They sell it by the cash register & I would highly recommend it for those who love Che(Vietnamese pudding desserts).

Great variety. They have the same name branches all over San Jose. But I find this one with the most variety and always in stock. They also have seating if you want to eat here. Ordered their bun rieu(tomato based noodle soup) a little sour. And salty but lots of flavors for vegetarian And got some Togo food for tonight. «Bbq pork» xa xiu and lemon grass tofu. Never disappoint. Many people ordered the bun bo hue spicy beef noodle. For sure next time I’ll try that.

Love love love that this place so close by my house! My dad is friends with the owner here and so he’s real friendly with us. If I could eat vegan everyday, I totally would. Some days I just want to eat vegan all day and so I just buy my meals here. The food is constantly consistent. When I come, I usually order the Bun Hue or just get white rice along with the picks of food. Either way, it’s delicious. The only downside to this place, it’s super tiny. If you’re lucky, there’ll be a table for you. If not, you’re going to have to to-go it out. Other than that, this is definitely my go-to place for Asian vegan food.

Great food, large portion and fresh. It’s a mom and pop store but they do their best to provide great customer service. It’s a nice place if you are into tofu, and tofu doesn’t taste that bad at all compare to some other tofu places that I have been too.

I got nothing against this place, except that there’s also nothing glaringly special about the food here either. My mom and I go here regularly, and the best thing is it got this Vietnamese feeling to it; she knows the staff, the staff knows her, and she’d have a good kick out of going. All the soups are good, definitely satisfy when you mix them up each time you go. Pro-tip: go regularly and call 5 mins ahead, you wouldn’t have to wait long at all!

This place is definitely good for lunch if you’re in a hurry. They have fast service and a wide selection of vegetarian dishes that are so delicious and flavorful that you’ll forget you’re not eating meat. The prices for their noodles/rice bowls are extremely reasonable for the size of the dish. They also have extra sides you can get(you can mix and match and put them in a small or large container for a set price). They even let me have a sample of one of their food items since I wasn’t sure what to get. I shared the #3 Vermicelli noodles with«pork» and egg rolls. The egg rolls were super fresh, delicious, and warm but the fried tofu we got wasn’t very warm which was disappointing. It was still, however, good in addition to other marinated tofu and bean curds that we tried. I think their food probably all has MSG(I was soo thirsty afterwards) but it was still worth it haha! Keep in mind that they are cash only and the workers can speak Vietnamese, Cantonese, and English!

Whoever says that this place is much better than tofoo com chay must tell me when to go, because when I went it was leaps and bounds lower. The service was also a miss and prices were higher.(Note to staff, don’t assume a Japanese looking girl isn’t fluent in Vietnamese; you’re lucky I was with a friend for official matters or I would’ve left.) Unfortunately when I went, tofoo com chay was closed and I was craving real Vietnamese food. It was good compared to Sacramento or Davis where I must continually suffer, but it was not at all comparable to tofoo com chay. Perhaps I came on an off day, or Vietnam’s taste in food changed in the fourteen years I’ve been gone. It’s alright, try it out but if you can Bun Bo Hue at Tofoo Com Chay will blow your veggie-friendly mind!

Vegans usually don’t have many choices while eating out, especially for noodle soups. This place has an amazing selection of different types of Vietnamese noodle soups. They also have a diverse a-la-cart section and prepackaged foods, which I have yet to try. The prices are cheap for the amount of food. Cash only. I ordered the yellow noodle soup. The broth was tasty. Noodles were ok. Service was good. Owners and workers are nice here. I read another review that complained about inconsistent hours. In my case it worked out: I passed by on Wednesday for lunch and they were open. This is my first time here but I plan to return many times to try many different things. 4.5 stars!

Had banh cuon, mi cha and bun bo hue. Everything was delicious. Always good here. First rated Vietnamese vegetarian would be Tofoo Com Chay in downtown SJ, then Mint and Basil in Milpitas and Dong Phuong Tofu would come in third for best authentic flavor yet vegetarian Vietnamese. I’m Vietnamese and my mom is a Vietnamese restaurant business owner in Vietnam and here, she had agreed that those three restaurants are very good in taste so it goes to show how dedicating they are to make it authentic as possible. So very happy to eat Vn food in vegetarian style.

Great food! We had the #3– Vermicelli with shredded pork and egg rolls, #5: spicy Bön Bue Hue, #8: Tomato &Crab soup & #17: Fried rice. The food was very tasty and we are so looking forward to going back to try more items from the menu. The people behind the counter were very friendly and helped us select dishes to try since we looked so lost. A great vegetarian find in East San Jose. The restaurant is small with just 4 small tables. Looks like a lot of people were picking up take out orders.

Very nice owner and employees, delicious variety of vegetarian offerings and good prices. The only issue I had was the Bun Bo Hue(spicy noodle) soup that everyone raves about was neither spicy nor flavorful. It took me a moment to realize that there was no lemongrass, chili oil and et al seasoning that is usually in the soup. Tofoo Com Chay still makes the best spicy noodle soup.

GOTOSPOTFORALLVEGETARIANS!!! I love their vegetarian dishes!!! Every dish i have bought here is very tasty! also very cheap!!! the small container is $ 3.00 and the bigger one is $ 5.00. This place is family owned, and everyone is very nice! Their bowl noodles here is also very good. I love their Bun Bo Hue and their Mien Ga. They portions are HUGGEE!!! One bowl made me very full, i almost could not finish it! and for $ 7? GREATPRICE because other vegetarian places, a bowl of noodle soup is around $ 10-$ 15 !!! I also love their soft tofu dessert. You get a lot for only $ 3 for a HUGE container. I go here almost every week because I see it as a healthy alternative to chinese take out. Their food isnt filled with oil and grease like other food to go places. Its filled with delicious sauces and seasoned to perfection. I recommend eating all their dishes with rice!(They also sell rice there!) also, this place is CASHONLY!!!

My only complaint about this place is that the hours aren’t what they post on the window. It seems as though they close whenever they want. and often it’s an hour or more before the posted time. Best bun bo hue chay in town! It’s not as greasy as some places and so flavorful! Dare I say, better than bun bo hue with meat! I also love the different varieties of prepared food they have on display. Their«ca kho tieu» and their lemongrass tofu is BOMB! Vegetarian or vegan food can be pretty pricey, but I feel like this place is very reasonably priced. Like you can buy a whole meal for 2 for less than 20 bucks. DON’T SKIPOUTONGETTINGTHEFRIEDMUSHROOMTOFU! They’re only $ 1 for 5!

Decent vegetarian food with a wide selection of noodle soups to how many pounds of mushroom tofu you want haha I grew up with my moms vegetarian home cooked meals, so coming here I had expectations, especially with positive Unilocal reviews I had to check this place out. Bun Bo Hue chay: it was decent, it didn’t really hit the spot for me because it wasn’t as flavorful as I would want. I had to put some soy sauce and a lot of chili peppers in it. If you’re familiar with Bun Bo Hue, you know how spicy it is, and this bowl was not spicy at all. It was flavorful but it definitely was missing that one thing. Purchasing food by the pound: tried their mushroom tofu and it was pretty good. It was heated, juicy and appetizing. I’d definitely come back to get it and try their other vegetarian foods. Con: *cash only* Overall, this place is decent. Bun Bo Hue chay was okay but the mushroom tofu and other heated items looked and tasted good. I would come here if I had any vegetarian cravings.

When can I come back? Seriously. You won’t be able to tell that everything is vegetarian here. The broths are so full of flavor. The mock meat is delicious. We tried the bun bo hue and the bun rieu. Really, really good. Fried rice for the kids which blew the socks of the fried rice we had ordered for them from another place the day before(yes our kids are boring). We also ordered a couple of the Vietnamese coconut drinks. I am a sucker for those. I don’t think the kids liked them as much as mommy did. The only issue here is that this is a no frills, cash only place. And they cater almost exclusively to native speakers. We were the only non-Asians there. Because of that we didn’t understand the system and were a little frustrated with the service. It all worked out though and we ended up having an amazing meal. So many things I want to try! Next time.
