Love this place. Oily food, inattentive service, but really really cheap and authentic Taiwanese food. I always get the pork chop bento. It comes with rice topped with beef sauce and pickled radish, red-boiled egg, and a veggie. Makes me miss Taiwan.

The place isnt bad as long as you don’t see how the food is made. The pearls for the milk tea sits outside uncovered… the whole day. Leaving it to the mercy of flies. The cold dishes are shifted between stores, meaning if Fremont one can’t sell it, its transported to Saratoga to well, with the loader making sure no visible fungus are there. Same for the rest of the foods like feet and tendons, etc. The lady there also has an attitude. I was curious if she hates her job or just me. Was not able to tell since I saw she had the same rudeness for everyone. Guess it was just natural.

this isnt a frou frou place — far from it. you order, you take it home, you enjoy. but what it lacks in décor, it makes up in flavor. these are solid chinese bento boxes. at $ 6.50 per combo, you get your main entrée of choice(i like the chicken steak but the fried fish and vegetarian option are also delicious), a side of veggies, a side of soy sauce marinated egg and tofu, and some spicy pickled turnips atop your rice. it’s like finding treasures as you dig through the box. again — solid fare for $ 6.50 out the door. ps — credit cards accepted if over $ 15.

They have good meats with reasonable price tags. And they taste pretty darn good. I’ve tried the salty duck, smoked duck, beef, pig’s tongue, and am pretty happy with them. Not really for dine-in although they have a few seats, but great take-out place.

$ 6.50 for the lunch specials, but best of all it includes the tax! I hate reading prices only to find out it will be more expensive because they didn’t add tax. I noticed they also have daily specials written on colorful paper on one of the displays. When I’m hungry and I want rice, this is a great place to satisfy your cravings. Try the grilled chicken. It came with steamed broccoli! Nice. The lady behind the counter is still the same, but I think that is part of her charm hehe.

I saw that this place only got 4 reviews and it’s at 2.5 stars, it’s so not fair! I personally have brought several of their 10 meal bento cards, and this location is better than the Milpitas branch(in my opinion), though I have never tried their Fremont branch. – just a side comment, this is more like a hole in the wall place, definitely don’t look for«service» here. – their bento went from $ 5.50 to the current $ 7($ 6.95). but I still think it’s worth it! Each bento comes with a bit of green vegetable and a soy sauce egg, a piece of fried tofu, and some of the meat dishes even have the excellent spicy marinated turnip bits on it!(that’s actually my favourite part!) – I like the grilled chicken, grilled pork, fried pork chops(pieces so thin so they are very crispy and fried through), smoked duck, soy sauce chicken, beef shank slices … almost everything here is excellent! =) i am adding this place to my SC local comfort food list!

i wanted to try the $ 2. mango smoothie, the bespectacled chinese lady doing the ombudsman work behind the cashier said they didn’t have any. they offer a $ 6. special lunch box for such items as pork chops, pork liver, large hog foot, smoked duck, beef shank, etc, also on the menu is noodle and mein(6.00) and taiwanese side cold dishees such as beef tripe, cold jelly fish, bran dough,(2.99) etc there didn’t to be any side dishes in the side refrigerators. i assume most of the deli items are made elsewhere and sold here. they have a common menu with won stew house which has locations in fremont, san jose, & milpitas. this is basically a taiwanese deli/restaurant.

I’ve been to this Tawianese deli a few times and ordered their bento boxes. Not the best but for $ 6.95 I guess I can’t really say much. The portions are tiny. I don’t eat much, but I can finish a bento box for dinner. The owner including the 3 ladies that work there don’t speak any English except for…“cash only” as I tried to charge my dinner on my Visa. The place is cold as hell as they always leave the front door open and never have the heater on. I feel bad for the employees because it’s like a walk in fridge. I wouldn’t recommend this place since the food is not as tasty and the employees there seem very rude if you don’t speak Mandarin to them. I speak only English and Cantonese.

Day-O-Deli is not the type of deli you’re thinking of. It’s called a deli because things are layed out in the same style as a deli, but in reality it sells Chinese ‘soy-braised’ items such as pork, beef and more exotic things like pig’s ear, innards etc. I’ve only tasted their vegetarian samplings which are pretty good. They also offer rice plates.
