This place is a classic immigrant coffee bar. Lots of smoking and woman in hot pants. Felt like I was back in Southeast Asia. Surprisingly packed at 8:30 in re morning.

Everything is basic. The shop needs serious upgrades. Coffee is OK. The tea that comes with coffee is good; taste and aroma. The manager or owner in the morning can use a warmer customer interaction and maybe a smile… O’wait those are illegal in Viet coffee shops… my bad… LOL

NOTHEYARENOT A FRONTFORANYTHING My old boyfriend and i used to come here often when we were just friends. If you become a regular and come often enough the girls will remember your name and what u usually order. They leave you alone unless you ask for something, then they’re pretty quick. patrons here are usually older men, but no gangsters, no trouble. They just drink coffee, watch sports, play cards, smoke, bull$hitting. the servers are free to dress however they like, and aren’t paid to be naked or stoop down to the level of some other coffee shop that pay girls to wear less and less. Typical viet coffee menu. I only wish they would remodel or fix it up a little because honestly it’s really old and ghetto. The owners are pretty nice ladies, really down to earth and the same for the girls who work there. They don’t stare at u for what you’re wearing or what car you drove into the lot. This place is an old family shop. but it has an old cultural feel similar to a lot of local family owned coffee shop in vietnam. Don’t compare them with Starbucks And NOTHEYARENOT A FRONTFORANYTHING… i’ve been there and known them for years. it’s one thing to be ignorant of our culture but it’s completely stupid to make judgements and assumptions about something you don’t know for sure.

Whenever my friend and I drove by this place, I would joke around and tell her to take me here for my birthday. One day she decided that my jokes were getting old so she pulled into the parking lot and said she’d buy me a drink. As soon as we walked in I felt so out of place. Aside from the scantily clad waitresses, this is not your typical coffee shop. The patrons all looked like they came straight out of a «21 Jump Street» episode. The Asian dudes playing cards in the corner constantly stared at me as I admired their mullets and dangling earrings. Some of them were even wearing half finger leather gloves. It was about as old school as you can get. As we grabbed our drinks and walked out, I had to stop myself from busting out the Running Man or Electric Slide. In the end, my avocado pearl drink wasn’t all that great.

Walked in here by mistake. Really! One day I was hungry as usual during lunch time and asked a co-worker to have lunch with me and we both decided we wanna try this café. Off we went! Oh boy! Wrong place! We walked in and found ourselves staring at ASIANMEN. Just ASIANMEN and women servers dressed in skimpy clothes. We stood there and mumbled something about looking for food. A female person told us that they don’t serve food. She said«Honey…we no serve food heeeere…» I surveyed the room and noticed men drinking coffee and smoking. I also noticed that the surrounding café’s wall is latticed lined. BUT– it’s also covered in clear plastic. Very strange finding this café in the US of A. It was something I’ve never seen before. It was very uncomfortable with all the men staring. Well, actually everyone staring. We sorta half run and hopped and left the place in a huff!!! Ewww!!!

More like a three starrer. This café is not big, but not too small either. You can go and get your coffees and avoshakes and watch sports if that’s all you want to do. Unlike the other VNese cafes, the patrons to this place really seem like they are there to watch sports and catch-up with one another. The gals are friendly, but as a superficial-guy, I don’t really want to get to know anyone, well, except one. lol. I think this place was the first VNese cafes to have outdoor patio seating, with a greenhouse-cover looking setup. It was great for smokers and non-smokers at the time. Now, sitting out there seems like it’s just for fresh air and getting some sun. Wow, not even an average of one review per year? Alas, it’s representative of how one of the very first VNese cafes did not adapt and make changes. Workers dress nice, not too showy which is necessary at times. They do play more VNese pop and traditional music than most of their peers though. Props to them for still being open after all these years.

Da Thao Café is a small café on the corner of Story Road across from Quick Stop. I have driven past it many times and thought to myself, «Damn– that is one poppin’ café– I have got to try their coffee.» My man decided to go buy me some one afternoon while I waited in the car with our sleeping toddler. I noticed everyone stop and stare as he walked in. Apparently– they aren’t used to seeing a non Vietnamese person in their café! My man told me that there is no English menu, but he was able to order my coffee. The waitress looked at him a little funny– but politely mentioned that it was«Vietnamese» coffee. It was good! It had a spicy note to it and was very sweet. I would return, except the vibe from the patrons was not very friendly. Next time, I will have to bring my «designated Vietnamese» friend with me!

«I’ve driven by this place SOOOOOO many times and each time, from Story Road, I see the restaurant PACKED with people. So one day, I rolled into the parking lot of this place with a girlfriend and just before we got out, I noticed that there was not one female patron at this place. The only females were women working there and dressed quite provocatively too might I add. I felt this chill come over me and told my friend not to get out of the car. I told her to pull out of the driveway. I was perplexed so asked a friend of mine if he knew anything about it. He in turn asked a Vietnamese friend who told him that this café was a front for um… well … you get the picture.»
