Chrissi Sturges – Designs For Your Life

I first discovered Chrissi through my mom when I (fortuitously) accompanied her to one of her hair appointments. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing with my hair. It was long, and I really didn’t know how to care for my natural waves and curls. In other words, it was kind of frizzy. On top of that, I was sporting some hideous brassy highlights (thanks, early 00s!). After working her magic on my mom’s tresses, Chrissi eye-​balled the mess on top of my head and said «I can fix that, you know.»
Over a decade later, I am still going to see Chrissi for all my hair needs, and this is why: Chrissi is pretty much everything you want in a hair stylist. She’s extremely talented, a great conversationalist, and incredibly knowledgeable about all things hair. Plus, she nurtures that knowledge with a lot of continuing education… so her ideas and her techniques are never stale.
Most importantly (to me, at least), Chrissi is a straight-​shooter who won’t hesitate to let you know if something isn’t working for you. This is important because what I want (short hair!), is not always what works for my hair (think… Pyramid Head). That said, at my last appointment, I decided I wanted something different than my usual long layers. I wanted shorter hair, darn it. So Chrissi gave me an angled cut that was shorter in the back, but that had longer layers framing my face. It worked extremely well with the texture of my hair and looked great, and I still get to enjoy the low-​maintenance care that comes with having shorter hair. Honestly, it was my favorite haircut to date and I got a ton of compliments on it.
Thank you, Chrissi! I shudder to think what my hair might look like now if we had never crossed paths!

Chrissi is simply amazing! I’ve been having my hair done by her since I was a sophomore in high school (I’m 31 now…), and I’ve followed her wherever she has gone! We’ve gone on quite the hair adventure together and I’m never disappointed. Chrissi has given me short hair pixie cuts, bobs, and now that I’m growing my hair out she trims it just how I like it.
Just a few weeks ago I went to visit Chrissi in her new space, and it’s adorable! I love the intimacy of it, and not to mention the parking is so easy! There were tons of spaces, and it was on a Saturday.
The reason for my visit this time around was for a trim and highlights before my boyfriend comes home from his deployment. My highlights always look so fresh and natural, and I get lots of compliments on them. Thank you to Chrissi for making my hair look beautiful for when my man comes home. :)
