No prices posted on the menu. So the lady just say whatever price she decide to charge. The duck meat was super fatty so there was barely any meat. Our plate was just a pile of fat and bones which made me pretty sad. The porridge was unseasoned and very watery. Left kind of hungry and disappointed.

There’s a lady working there who u would see about 80% of the time. That lady always shows a stone face, as in showing no expression at all whatsoever. When u ask her something, she would say the least amount of words with very unfriendly facial expressions. I always avoided buying food there when she’s there. I think she’s the owner but what a DuMB owner

I would give negative star if I could! Today at 2pm I received the most horrible service I ever have. The cashier lady was not willing to take the other. She was eating her noodles at the counter and look at me and my mom and acting very unfriendly. If you were not welcome your customers please close your door! I was there because my mother wanted to eat Chao Vi. I only ordered one for my mother because I already had lunch. When the food came, I ordered 2 cups of teas from the same cashier. When she came out, she only gave me one. I asked her I ordered 2 cups. She said«2nd cup $.50» with a rude tone. I expected to pay it! Don’t come back with one cup of tea and expected her customers didn’t have $.50 in her pocket. I paid for my foods and I didn’t ask for free! Don’t give me your bad attitude! My family and I will not go back to this horrible place!!! There are many more excellent Vietnamese food courts in San Jose. Please don’t play for a horrible service also with no respect.

The cashier was so ignorant when I asked if there’s chicken in the chao porridge. She’s all like,“Yah, there’s chicken!” And when I checked at home(to give to my poor sick sister), it was just nothing but plain flavorless porridge with no chicken as promised. It’s like all she ever care about is money and quick service. She doesn’t really care about the customers. She just frickin’ lied to me, man. I am so pissed at her. It’s always about that with older vietnamese people in restaurants. It’s always overpriced, crappy quality food they like to serve. This is why I don’t like going to viet restaurants in general. Sorry to viet older people in general. Just please don’t ever lie ever again just for money and screw your customer over. So inconsiderate. Never coming back to that place ever again.

Hate the fact everytime we here order. The cashier lady is alway on the phone. While taking our order, no eyes contact whatsoever, so rude, and ridiculous, the foods is not worth my time to deal with rudeness.

The chicken porridge is my go to thing to eat every time I visit the Grand Century Mall in San Jose! Vietnamese people seem to only eat free Range chicken so it’s chewy and very low in fat but the meat is so much tastier than stuffed caged birds! Their cabbage salad has lots of fresh ginger an garlic in a fish sauce with peppers to give it a great flavor! I always eat here any chance I can… yes I brave the fobville central to do it but the food is worth having to endure the fob was in order to eat here! I definitely encourage you to try this place if you haven’t haven’t had a chance. It’s delicious and worth $ 9.50! The picture does the food justice it’s exactly what you see in the photo I posted. I wished the places in Hawaii have something similar to this simple yet great food stands like they do at Grand Century Mall, so if you’re in the area, come visit this place and give it a try! I guarantee you won’t regret it!

This was my 2nd times here recently and I was even more disappointed today. I got bun vit sao mang & goi vit last time and it was ok nothing to rave about. Someone told me that their specialty was the chao vit/duck congee. So we ordered the 1 to go and it was the worst chao ever… flavorless. You would think that a place that specialize in chao vit/duck congee would be way better than this. Won’t be back!!!

Duck porridge is a must-have. All the herbs, intestine and blood make the porridge really filling and flavorful. The duck salad… yuuuuum. Hits the spot!

YUMMY, almost as good as daddy’s chao vit. Came here in desperation for chao-vit because my stomach has been acting up & I can’t eat anything else besides chao. I got the special, Chao-Vit Thanh Da($ 8.99 w/out tax). It comes with a bowl of porridge w/a piece of pork blood, a plate of cabbage vinaigrette salad and boiled ducks on top. You can also purchase more pork blood for $ 1.50. Since its an fast-food court, food came out within 5 minutes. The broth has a nice texture. Not too thick and not too soupy… Just the way I like it. The flavor was definitely there. The salad did needed a little more flavor, it tasted as if they poured vinegar on top so I just dumped the salad in my porridge instead. The duck was good and the ginger sauce was also delicious. It is definitely pricey, but what do you expect from a popular Vietnamese mall? I wouldn’t mind paying that much if I ended up enjoying the food though. :) I also got my nuoc mia at the court near by so I was right in heaven with the convenience.

This place is a waste of time and money. I ordered chao’ lo‘ng togo w/chinese donut. But they completely forgot my donut and when I called to ask for it nobody picked up the phone. I paid $ 10.50 total but it’s only half a bowl full and the taste is very mediocre. Will never come back.

This little shop is located inside Grand Century’s food court and is most known for their Chao Vit(duck porridge). Each order comes with a big bowl of porridge, a plate of chopped steamed duck on a bed of salad, and garlic fish sauce for dipping. Not the best Chao Vit I’ve ever had but it’s pretty good when i’m craving for something warm and soupy. My only complaint is how watery the soup is. I’m used to eating Chao the way my mom prepares it — thick, chunky, and pure white. Here, the grains of rice seem like they’ve been grounded, drowning in broth and has a more yellow color. The duck can be pretty bland too, I usually dunk mine in the garlic fish sauce for some needed flavor. Taste wise, I suppose it’s acceptable. But price wise, it’s pretty expensive for the quality you actually get. About $ 8 something a bowl. Don’t expect too much from the service… i mean you’re in a Vietnamese food court after all. As long as you just walk up, order, pay and eat, there shouldn’t be any issues.

We came here for some times now since I like their«Bun Mang Vit». The duck and the bamboos are very good. My wife always like to order extra bamboos as the side order. Lately, they seem to cut back on that and don’t give us much as before. I’ve the same problem with the new lady owner. She doesn’t have a smile on her face and never care to respond when a customer asks for something.

Bedridden with the stomach flu and all my body would allow me to eat was porridge. I really like Thanh Da’s porridge with duck salad. I could not eat the salad without vomiting(which I am usually able to eat without the stomach flu), so I ate only the duck with porridge. The duck is prepared fairly simply here, I think just steamed with a little seasoning, but it goes very well dipped in their ginger-infused fish sauce. The porridge is made with the right amount of rice and broth. It’s great for a cold day or when you’re ill, like I am. One take-out portion made two meals for me and it cost about $ 7. The only thing I didn’t like about this place was how the lady did not wash her hands after she handled money. She returned to picking the vegetables immediately after I paid for my food, without even wiping her hands. Maybe that was the reason I could not eat the salad without vomiting, who knows.

I’m pretty disappointed. The duck congee(chao/jook) was not up to par. I’m used to congee where you can actually see the rice clearly, this looked like the rice was placed into a grinder. The duck was more or less flavorful. Could have been much better for the price of $ 8.25. What made the whole experience worse was when I wanted to take the rest to go. $ 0.25 cents for a to go cup. I should have just gotten the congee to go and it would have been included in the price. The extra star is for location. It’s next to my favorite Nuoc Mia(sugar cane) place!

This place^ has gotten too popular as well? It is now $ 7 for a side dish of the duck, a smallish bowl of rice porridge/congee, and only one piece of huyet=coagulated blood cube. It also comes with bean sprouts and a bowl of ginger/fish sauce mix for dipping. Still ITTET*, will get drawn back and because of the fact the food court’s «Nuoc Mia Ninh Kieu»( ) is right next to it. ^Inside Grand Century Mall

I tried their mien Vit.(clear glass noodles in a clear broth with duck) TERRIBLE. The mien was still slightly crispy. The broth was TERRIBLY bland and the duck? CHEWY. Really. It’s not even ROAST duck and it’s CHEWY! Seriously folks… If you’re going to have DUCK be part of your signage — it better be some fantastic DUCK. NOTRUBBERY. I get that this is food court fare — but STILL. This place? SO not worth the visit.
