Amazing sushi! This best in the business. Quick way to get your sushi fix. If going around dinner time be prepared to wait. I think it’s worth the wait. Waiters are very attentive and quick to respond. Sushi comes out quickly too. Make sure to stop by.

So good. I’ve been here before. A long time ago with my son. My wife and I went again the other day. OMG! So good. It’s way better than Sushi Boat. Sushi Boat on Santa Teresa and Bernal Road is under new management and all of their things taste the same. You wont find that at Cha Cha. It’s so good. The guys are funny and friendly. The price is about right. Not too expensive. So delish. I’ll go back fo sho.

This review has been long overdue. Ask anyone in San Jose where’s the best place for sushi, it’s Cha Cha! Fresh rolls, generous portion(esp the tempura green tea ice cream) yum yum! Although the wait can get frustrating, anywhere from 30 mins — an hour+ on a normal day, but the food and service makes up for it. *Brandon roll is a must have!

My expectations were high reading all the reviews. The sushi was good, not great. Definitely not worth the one and a half hours of wait. Service was ok. We got the lion king and one with eel. Not bad!

Started off with the complimentary mussels. tried them out with some hesitation, but I liked it. Had the sashimi dinner plate which I absolutely loved. I think there was 4 pieces each of salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. Also ordered a few other rolls to share and nothing disappointed. Everything ordered tasted fresh and the service was fast! The reviews speak for themselves. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. The only downside was the 15 – 20 minute wait for a Sunday late lunch/early dinner. Two thumbs up!!!

Love the bento box and their sushi rolls. Reasonable priced and good service. I got the salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki and salmon sashimi 3 item bento. The sashimi could’ve been cut thicker instead of so thin but still tasted fresh. I will come back and try their rolls.

I can’t give an accurate rating because I came for carry out and only got the salmon sashimi for myself. It was pretty delicious as salmon as always is though; and fresh This place is super crowded. Not sure if it’s like this every day but the wait seems pretty long during dinner time. They’re great with their carry out service though. Fast, helpful and included chopsticks, soy sauce & wasabi even though I forgot to ask for it.

So we waited in line for two plus hours for a table of five. Then they came out at 20mins before closing to mention THEYAREOUTOFFISH. WTF? Couldn’t mentioned to everyone you’re about to be out fish. #neveragain.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. Came here a few years ago after playing golf one day at Santa Teresa and thought the sushi was going to be out of this world based on all the Unilocal reviews, but then I realized they are mainly known for their sushi rolls. I don’t prefer sushi rolls because there is too much rice. However I do prefer simple nigiri and sashimi. Anyways, since I was there I figured I might as well try their most popular dishes that everyone raves about right? I can’t remember what I had but I probably ordered something with salmon or yellow tail. It was one of the popular rolls and I remember it being just OK, nothing memorable. It didn’t taste like the fish was super fresh or anything, so it was not like it was out of this world. It was decent. I will say however that I did think this place tasted better than Sen Dai Sushi in Milpitas. But you know what? Kaenyama Sushi in Fremont tastes just as good, and their sushi rolls are bigger and 50% off on Mondays lol. There is plenty of parking in the lot and the service was good. If you are in the area and need a quick sushi fix then you can try it, but if you have time to drive somewhere else, then do it.

This was the most absolutely delicious sushi I’ve had in years. The sauce was a bit strong, but it didn’t feel overwhelming. I had 3 flawless rolls: the Dragon, the Caterpillar, and the Golden Gate The rolls were quite large and bursting with flavor. They were very generous with the quantity and quality of ingredients. The rolls were so good that the miso soup & edamame(which weren’t bad) tasted completely bland afterwards. Just stick with rolls while you’re here, and you’ll do well.

Cha Cha Sushi is amazing! There was a little bit of a wait on a Sunday night around(8pm) but we got sat quicker since we chose to sit at the sushi bar! They give you free mussels and their rolls are a great size! Their service was very friendly and accomodating! I got the: 1. Lion King Roll: Baked Salmon on top of Crab and Avocado — delicious! 2. 49er– similar to Lion King Roll except raw salmon(YUMMM) and lemons on top(which are edible. get those nutrients) I would definitely recommend and come back!

Worst sushi I’ve ever experienced… I don’t understand why there is a wait with people outside of the door. The only reason for that is because it is such a small restaurant. We were served our Miso soup, and I was a little bothered that I was not given a soup spoon, bc in the east coast, that’s how our miso is served. But fine, I was told you just drink it from the bowl. The soup taste like the usual miso powder/seaweed/tofu mix. I was really surprised by how fast our sushi was prepared and served, but then I shouldn’t have been surprised by how bad it tasted. It was literally 2 minutes after we placed our order, the sushi started coming out, as each roll was finished on an individual plate. First of all, the rice they made the rolls with tasted really old, and the rolls did not stay in place as a roll. The amount of rice they use to make each roll, was way too much. Lastly, the sashimi that I had for each roll was the worst I’ve ever had for the price we paid! The fish tasted as if they just thawed it out from the freezer, and had no taste to it. The only reason I continued to eat it was because I was hungry. I ate a few and couldn’t eat it anymore. Afterwards, someone told me that this place is usually called the«fast food sushi» and I agree. Waste of money coming here! They should sell their sushi in a food court for half the price they charge.

Been going to Cha Cha’s for years, it never disappoints unless you take it for take out which was once! My 2 sushi rolls looked gross, one was borderline plain tasting and the other looked like it came out of the garbage disposal, LOL. But, I give them the benefit of the doubt since their in house service and presentation is aways on point! The wait is always crazy here… My last visit was with a group of 8 or so, they underestimated this couple that took ages to get out. Because of them, we ended up being split apart from our group. To make up for it, the waitress was super sweet about it and got us free dessert ftw!(: Food is always delicious, the 49er is pretty popular here with slices of thin lemon on top! They use to give out complimentary spicy/sweet mussels, not sure if they stopped since my last visit, we didn’t receive any. Maybe its just for the bar only? Cha Cha is a classic, must try place in SJ. Its just far for me to go to more often or else I’d be here more often(:

A solid sushi spot but probably not the best that I’ve had. I would say if you’re looking to fill a sushi crave for a reasonable price this would be the place to go. Beware that there will be a line here for dinner during the weekends. The wait can vary but expect to be here for around 30 minutes before you’ll get seated. They have a huge variety of rolls and also you can choose to just eat sashimi. We got the Brandon roll and Kim roll. The Kim roll tasted the best. Food came out very quickly after you order so that was a pleasant surprise. They also give you a free dish of mussels with some spicy salsa on top. It was actually really tasty. Overall a solid choice for dinner, just in my opinion not the best sushi spot I’ve every been to.

Cha Cha used to be my go-to sushi place! It can get pretty crowded during dinner time so I recommend calling in before you head over. It’s pretty small inside and you have the option of either bar or tables. If you like fried rolls, you should try The Spartan which has seeped fried spicy crab, unagi, cucumber & cream cheese topped with spicy crab, spicy mayo & unagi sauce. I love cream cheese with sushi, weird I know. :(I also get the Lion King roll which is baked. It’s basically a California roll topped with baked salmon, spicy mayo, unagi sauce and tobiko. This roll takes about 15 minutes to make. There is also complimentary mussels to start off your meal! Yay! I like how Cha Cha has many fried and bake options since I can’t eat raw fish(Yes, I’m missing out).

I used to dine here a lot before I got introduced to nigiri, sashimi, omakase, or whatever you want to call it. I definitely stepped up my «sushi game» up through out the couple years(Hahaha) and I stopped going to sushi spots for just rolls. Anyways by the end of the day, I always know I’m always going to have a thing for Cha Cha because it was once my first love and I still enjoy coming here whenever I want the following: 1) Complimentary mussels which is bomb. 2) Brandon Roll, church roll, and their uni. Their brandon roll is the reason why I keep coming back. It’s freaking AMAZING. 3) Tempura green tea ice cream just cause I’m a huge sweet tooth person. Cha Cha is a nice sushi gem if you’re craving sushi rolls in San Jose. The service is quick and prices are just right for the amount of food they give you. HANDSDOWN my favorite spot for rolls.

Love coming here to get my sushi fix! This is the perfect place to come to if you’re not feeling adventurous for AYCE at Kenzos. Even if you don’t want sushi, the 2-item/3-item lunch/dinner combos are more than filling. Bonus points for free mussel appetizers every time I come! You really can’t go wrong with any of the sushi rolls here, but my personal favorites are the 49er and Brandon rolls. Be sure to be willing to wait if you’re coming during peak hours though! This place is quite the popular sushi joint.

Surprising gem in one of the more, ah, sketchy neighborhoods of San Jose. Don’t let the black screens over the windows surprise you: this is in fact a sushi place, and not another kind of establishment of the«cha cha» variety. We went in about an hour into the second half of the Super Bowl, so thankfully, the long the lines that most talked about were not present. I was pretty impressed at the selection of rolls, most all under $ 15, but more specifically how knowledgeable our server was with his recommendations. We went with his recommendations, and a Philly Roll, because one of my friends was craving cream cheese(for whatever reason) at the time. The Brandon Roll — wow! When sushi places say that a roll is «topped» with fish, they usually just mean a thin sliver of salmon. But a Brandon Roll is topped with literally a MOUNTAIN of fish. It’s like a mixed-hamachi-salmon-tuna poke bowl scattered on top of your roll! IT’S AMAZING. Not only that, but the mini rice crackers(fool your white friends by saying it’s ant larvae. It’s fun!) on top of it create a great texture so even though the fish was nice and firm, you’re not bored with the texture. I’m usually not a fan of gimmicky rolls, but this one was really, really good. Tropic Thunder — nothing special; softshell crab + real crab + unagi sauce was pretty good, but wasn’t mind blowing. It was nicely fried though; none of that«what the heck did I just eat» mouthfeel you often get with softshell crab. Philly Roll — Sorry, I’m a snob; I actually think it’s impossible to mess up a Philly Roll. It was pretty good. Overall, one of the better sushi places in San Jose. I’d normally stick with just 4 stars, but the little things such as their staff’s knowledge of the menu, the freshness of the fish, the complimentary mussels(!), and finally the price point give it a much-needed edge over the ubiquitous sushi joints around San Jose. I’ll definitely be back. — sweet: brandon roll, fresh fish, free mussels, great service bitter: a bit saucy at times, but overall very good.

Cha Cha Sushi is clearly one of the most popular sushi spots in San Jose because when we got there at 5:30 pm for dinner on a Saturday night, there were already 10 parties waiting before us! Crazy… But after writing our name down, the wait wasn’t too excruciatingly long. The restaurant itself is really small, so we stood outside waiting with the others. Thank goodness the rain had already stopped by then! Appearance wise, Cha Cha Sushi is definitely not trying to win any awards. Darkly lit, but with no sense of ambiance, the tables inside are much too close together and décor is nonexistent – certainly not the best spot for a romantic date. By the time our name was called, we were given the option to sit at the bar or to wait another 15 minutes for a table. Too hungry to wait, my hubby and I opted for the bar and were luckily seated near the end away from other patrons. The bar interestingly has an extra level above the actual table, creating plenty of space for our food. Because we were seated near the register, it was easy for us to get service, but there wasn’t a specific waiter who served us throughout the night. In fact, there were so many people eating in and to-go orders being called that the waiters were constantly running around, trying to keep up with all of it. Honestly, we felt kind of bad… For our food, we got edamame as an appetizer(my hubby’s favorite) as well as two rolls, the Jayden roll and the King Kong roll. Complimentary mussels with a spicy salsa were given to us that cleared our sinuses the minute they hit our tongue – really good, super spicy, and quite refreshing! The edamame came next and my hubby was very disappointed. He loves it when they are cooked with salt and these were just so boring and very bland. The rolls, however, were better. I loved the King Kong because of all of the sashimi pieces wrapped around each piece, such as salmon, hamachi, and tuna. Relying more on the freshness of the fish than an abundance of sauce, this roll was quite delicious. The filling of spicy tuna and the shrimp tempura on top of all the rice made the roll ultra filling. Consequently, I didn’t eat much of the Jayden roll, but from my hubby’s reaction, it seemed it was merely alright. This roll was cooked and covered in tempura crumbs and a spicy tobiko sauce. It also had a fried tempura shrimp inside each piece, eliciting a nice crunch, but the flavors weren’t anything special. In fact, compared to the King Kong, the roll was quite boring. The first time my hubby and I ate at Cha Cha Sushi, we were blown away by its taste, but this time, the experience was terribly underwhelming. The sushi wasn’t bad per-say; we were just hoping for a bit more«oomph.» Maybe it was a bad day since they were so swamped, but after such a lackluster dinner, I don’t think my hubby and I are coming back anytime soon.
