Just had a deep conversation with Billy, he started in 1989 in front of American Tire company, 26 years in the hot dog industry. Always a friendly smile serving up hot dogs, Polish dogs, chips and a drink.

That was a great hot link. No BS, just good food from a nice dude on a sidewalk. I’ve been informed that he also gets out there on Saturdays — except during crab season.

Billy Holguin has been serving up quality sausages from his cart at this location for over 22-years; 10 of which I have been a loyal and satisfied customer. His menu is pretty simple and consists of just three types of Sausage: Hot Dogs, Hot Links and Polish Dogs. He also offers combos that include one sausage, a bag of chips and a can of soda. Hot Dogs– Above-standard sized dog that has a great flavor and a good snap to it. I suspect it might be a Casper dog, but I’ve never asked. 4* Polish Dog– One of my favorite Polish Dogs ever. It’s also got that snap you look for in a quality sausage; just beware because if you bite into the wrong end it will spray you in the face! Fortunately Billy always marks the end to bite into for you. 4* Hot Link– This is everything a Hot Link should be: Spicy, juicy and good flavor. It’s also got the snap. 4* Condiments– For such a tiny cart Billy really has the most amazing selection of condiments I’ve ever seen. Let’s see if I can get them all: Ketchup, Mustard, Deli Mustard, Mayo, Diced Tomatoes, Diced Onions, Sauerkraut, Relish, BBQ Sauce, Sriracha, Salt, Pepper, and tons of Hot Sauce(e.g., Cholula, Tapatio, and every flavor of Tabasco you can imagine!). This is my favorite part of Billy’s because I love to load up my Dogs! 5* Buns– Billy has uses steamed Sesame Seed Bun that’s pretty large for the Dogs but makes it perfect for loading up with the aforementioned condiments. 3* Service and Ambiance– Billy’s is conveniently located next to Fry’s Electronics on the Southside of E Brokaw Rd, just east of Junction Ave. There’s usually parking in the street but if not you’ll have to park in the Fry’s lot and hoof it over. Billy is a very affable man and quite a character; he loves to strike up a conversation about anything and everything(last time I was there we talked about fishing off the Pacifica Pier). Ambiance 4*/Service 5* Value– Admittedly this is Billy’s weak spot because his prices are a bit high for what it is. However, to be fair, I think Costco has set everyone’s standards for Hot Dog prices a bit too low. It’s a little unjust to try and compare an independent Hot Dog vendor’s prices to a Fortune 500 Company that prides itself on being low-cost. The only reason people go to Costco for a Hot Dog is the price and not necessarily the taste; most people(i.e., Eric W) would eat fried shoe leather if the price was right. If you don’t mind paying a few dollars more, then Billy’s is your spot. 2.5* I’m not always in the mood for a Hot Dog but when I am this is my definite«go-to» spot. The only reason I’m not giving Billy’s the 5-star review he deserves is the value factor is a bit low. Otherwise it’s a highly recommended place to satisfy your craving.

Great hot dog at a good price. Top it with everything you want, he’s got a ton of toppings including mayonnaise(which is good that he stores it cold instead of out on the cart). Billy will probably tell you, but in case he doesn’t, you’ll definitely have to try some tomato topped with garlic salt. He told me about it and I think it’s my new favorite hot dog topping. I will definitely be coming back to try the hot link and polish since the hot dogs were so good.

I’ve been going to Billy’s Dog’s for a few years now ever since I started working at Fry’s and a coworker of mine introduced me there. I no longer work at Fry’s but i always long for a polish dog from Billy’s. From what i understand the guy has been there for years and there is a reason why. The best Polish or hot dogs I’ve had anywhere in San Jose. Good snap, great flavor, good selection of condiments. He steams his buns so it ‘s nice and moist. I remember driving all the way from the Fremont Frys during lunch break just to have one with my friend Augy and billy will always engage us in intersting conversations. Good times.

If you have $ 5 cash and want a nice cheap lunch, Billy’s Hotdog is the definite answer. I guess it all depends where you are located, but for me Billy’s location is just right out front our office building. No need to drive around or cross the street. A real nice hot and juicy Polish dog in a bun with all the possible condiments you can have — pickle relish, onions, cheese, mayo, mustard, ketchup. All in one clean hotdog stand! You definitely won’t miss Billy’s hotdog stand since he wears a bright yellow-green traffic vest. Safety first! I know Costco hotdogs are cheaper at $ 1.50, but with chips and soda at $ 5 that’s good deal. No wonder there’s always a crowd in front of our office building.

You see alot of hotdog vendors all over the place, but this is the first one I visited where the proprietor has to wear a reflective safety vest. Its a good thing too as Brokaw Road can be a busy place. Nothing out of the ordinary, but noting that 5 bucks will get you a decent combo meal of a hotdog, chips and a soda. Got some time? Billy will engage you with some interesting conversation about current events. Condiments are standard issue, though the squeeze bottles are a little crusty. Want a snack after the lunch rush? Billy will be there until 4:00 in the afternoon. Hands full? Billy will even walk you to the car, open your door and make sure you exit safely back on to the road.

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog! I LOVE Billy’s Dogs! Initial thoughts: Hot dog cart randomly on the side of the road? I dunno. After having a polish dog from Billy: Costco ain’t got nothin on this! Yes, yes, Costco polish dogs and a soda for $ 1.50 is a damn good value. But there is no comparison. Billy’s Dogs are so darned good! When you bite into the dog, you get a little snap… which is what you want from a good dog. Billy checks the temperature of each dog before putting them on your bun to ensure that it is cooked just right. The bun is made fresh daily at the bakery from which he gets the buns and the dogs fresh from a butcher shop. The variety of condiments is definitely a bonus! The owner/vendor, Billy is the greatest guy, too! He is always friendly and pleasant, greeting everyone with a smile. He knows his dogs well and has taken the time to perfect his craft. He has plenty of loyal customers who frequent his hot dog cart and will gladly pay the extra bucks for a darn good product although Costco is just down the street. From what I heard, he was, at one point, considering selling the business, but wanted to find the right buyer who would uphold his standards. Now THAT is a good businessman! It’s not about the profits, it’s about the quality of the product you deliver! But I don’t think he has to worry about the profits. Go to Billy’s Dogs now! It’s delicious! Mmmmmm!

Been serving up really good ‘dogs for 15+ years. The really nice thing is his selection of condiments. Bottles and bottles of sauces. He even has mayo that he keeps separate in a cooler. The food is a little pricey, tho.

First off this is the hot dog stand you see on your way to and from fry’s electronics during the weekday lunch hours. For a long time years and years now I can recall seeing this stand while on my way to fry’s. Today I figured why not try it, grab a good old fashioned hot dog and a soda. So I pull over on the side of the road and Billy(I’m assuming) welcomes me and directs me to his menu. The prices seemed a bit steep for a hot dog stand. $ 4 for a hot dog and $ 6 for a polish dog. I was tempted to walk away and head to my near by costco where prices were so much friendlier. Overall I chose the #1 hot dog, chips and a soda for $ 6. The bun was warm and soft as if they’ve been sitting in a steamer. The hot dog was a pretty good size, not quite the size of costco’s but close enough. The hot dogs were boiled as i saw a bit of water drip from it as he lifted it from the steamer. One thing I liked is he had all the condiments from hot sauce to mayo to 2 different types of relishes and mustard. He also had bbq sauce as well as many dry spices. The hot dog fix was sufficed but I don’t think that for the money it’s not what I expected. I even thought to myself that if he lowered his cost to say ohhh $ 2 he would make more money and advertise it so people driving by can see. It’s conveniently located a block from getting on the 880. So its a good quick bite. So Billy if you’re reading this and this is coming from someone who knows marketing pretty well. i suggest a lower cost and advertise the price big enough for drivers to see. Take my advice and you’ve got yourself 4.5 stars from me, but for now it will remain at 3.
