I live a couple of blocks away — and have lived here for 15 years. About every 5 years I try this place again, hoping against hope that it will have changed owners, chefs or SOMETHING — but nope. Disappointment every time. Overpriced, uninspired food, lackluster service. I would LOVE to have a neighborhood restaurant I liked — would eat there often. Sadly, this place isn’t it.

I ordered Angel hair pasta with shrimp, it was ok. Nothing great, wouldn’t order it again. However I did Love the desert, vanilla ice cream with fallen chocolate cake!

I absolutely love this place! They have a superb take out deal: 1 large 2 topping pizza, 1 pasta, and 1 salad for around $ 21! Everything was delicious! Their pizza in particular is phenomenal. I have tried both their Mediterranean pizza and their takeout. Both have been excellent. I am definitely going back.

Clams were good but the liquid was very sour. The gnocchi was tasty n creamy. The bread w dipping oil was good. Service was superb. Expected more clams n bigger size, but I liked the taste.

Excellent food and service. My husband had the fillet special — cooked to perfection. I had the wild mushroom ravioli with Gorgonzola sauce — delicious and better than AntiPastos!

First time here. First impression: woman at register cold and comes off as rude. San Francisco prices with the lackluster décor of San Jose. No thanks.

I really like the dining space. It is welcoming and cute. Food is okay. This is all just a hunch, but I think that they keep a lot of the food frozen? It just didn’t taste super fresh. I did like the bread. Service was great, the ladies were so sweet. I did only order a salad and tiramisu. Those items just felt like they were off. The cheese in the salad was strange and the dessert wasn’t drooling delish.

The place is very nice and in a good location. Staff was friendly, service was good and our food fresh and hot. Somewhat limited menu but enough choices for us.

My family and I came here last night looking to celebrate my mother’s birthday. For appetizers, we ordered the bruschetta and also the steamed clams. The bruschetta, which looked very unappetizing, ended up being pretty tasty-once you put it together yourself. The steamed clams, however, were just bad-and I’m normally a clam-lover! The texture was almost unbearable as the clams were somewhere in the middle of raw and steamed. I do not recommend these dishes. As for my meal, I ordered the pesto gnocchi. My hopes weren’t too high after the apps, but my mind was still open. When I received my meal, the first thing I noticed was that it was absolutely smothered in a combination of powdery and unmelted cheese. The cheese was not listed as one of the ingredients on the menu– it plainly stated«Pesto Gnocchi». If I had known that there was cheese on this dish, I would have asked to have the gnocchi without cheese! There menu just needs to be clearer and more accurate. The Gnocchi was an okay consistency with subpar pesto. It tasted like they bought frozen potato dumplings and then just put store-bought pesto on them. It looked like it too. Gross. When the time came for dessert, I almost didn’t even want to order. I put my best foot forward and gave it a shot so I didn’t seem rude. I ordered my favorite dessert, crème brûlée. The dish came out to the table within 5 minutes– a bad sign, already. The brûlée part(the sugary top) was kind of crunchy and almost to the consistency that I prefer. The crème filling, however, was very bland. I remember say that it «Tastes like tears” — an ode to how sad this dessert it. Also, throughout the course of our meal, there was a stench of toilet and sewage in the dining room. It was disgusting and my family couldn’t believe it. We actually started to laugh at how bad this place was. It was just flat out gross. I would not recommend Antonella’s. It’s bad. It’s probably family-owned, understaffed, and low-budget. This was not a good experience. I didn’t enjoy this restaurant at all. If you’re looking for a great place– do not come here.

My friend and I came here for some French fries once since everyone was buzzing about them. When we ordered, we asked to take them to-go. It was a hot day and we had walked there, so we felt tired and warm. After we got our fries, we decided to sit at a table for a minute or two to cool off then leave. The moment we sat down, the manager came up to us and started to lecture us on how expensive the boxes are(and even told us that they’re 35 cents each) and that we should have ordered them on a plate if we wanted to eat at the restaurant so that they wouldn’t have to pay so much for more boxes than they really needed. My friend and I were irritated at the fact that a manager would really begin to tell their customers how much they pay for their supplies and talked down on us with a tone and attitude suggesting that we were dumb kids. It just showed how cheap, impatient, and unprofessional they were. The fries themselves were subpar; I’ve had better fries from McDonalds. It seemed like they had been sitting for a little while since they were given to us pretty quickly and were only warm. Judging from other reviews, seems moody, rushed, and overall unpleasant service is the trend here. Definitely won’t be coming back.

2 ½ stars. We ordered calamari and ravioli. My boyfriend said the calamari was bland; I agree but I liked the crunch. The real highlight of the meal was the ravioli; it had a yummy cheesy filling. But I do not recommend the calamari. Our waitress was nice and attentive.

Well I was about to eat my Caesar salad and I was about to eat it, until my date told me that there was a nice little dead fly chilling on one of the pieces of lettuce. When we told them that there was a fly, they just changed the plate and not the salad. Definitely not somewhere we are going to go again. Also we came in as a prom group and the server was so aggressive with us. plus the man gave a dirty plate and he even looked at it before he gave it to me.

Very good service, strange atmosphere for an Italian restaurant. Food is decent but I wouldn’t go there again… just too boring.

We’ve been coming here for years and love this place. Came to celebrate my birthday with the family tonight. The service is friendly and great. The steak was tender, the Green beans crispy, and the mashed potatoes creamy. The fallen chocolate cake is to die for.

I come over from Scotts valley. The best homemade pasta around. Prices very reasonable. I had the pappardell bolognese and hearts of romaine salad. The crispy polenta appetizer was perfect. You can pay more for less and get better ambiance. Highly recommend.

Last Oct. 4th, I was so famished and the restaurant that I wanted to go to was about to close soon, and so I ended up here. Parking: Limited space. Good thing it wasn’t busy at all. Interior: Nice Italian atmosphere and ambience. Service: Lousy! My server never bothered to ask me how I was doing. He didn’t even refill my glass of water. He had four tables including mine. Entrée: I ordered Tutti Di Mare. Rich in sauce. Lacking in herbs and spices. Taste bland for me. Forgettable. When the bill arrived, I noticed my server charged me incorrectly. The price of Tutti Di Mare is $ 20.95. I even borrowed the menu from another diner to double check. It IS $ 20.95. He charged me $ 22.95. Two dollars more, must be a slow night for him. I called his attention and rectified the error. Focaccia bread is homemade and it’s good. But I will NEVER come back!

9÷20÷14: Overall, average. I’ve been told that their lasagna is great, and standard issue spaghetti and meatballs, but well, we’re not here to get cafeteria food right? 1. Bread: Looks better than it tastes. Not bad, but nothing special(other than amazing looks). The outside looks beautiful with some baked onions and other stuff binded to the crust. But it just tastes like standard cold bread. Comes with a very generous portion of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. 5⁄10. 2. Caesar Salad(not full entrée) $ 6.95: Yeah… near $ 7 for some cut lettuce and parmesan, and standard-issue store-bought Caesar dressing(or at least tastes like it). Only nicer touch was that the parmesan was generously supplied, and in nice thick but not too-thick shavings. But otherwise, Costco might be better. Kinda medium/smallish dish size too. 3⁄10. 3. Linguine & Clams $ 20.95: So, I think you can start to see the pattern. Same thing – nice looking, but tastes just okay… well, actually in this case, OFF. Something was wrong with the sauce. I assume it’s some kind of white wine reduction, which would have been a nice gourmet attempt, but I think they only managed to concentrate the vinegar taste of the wine. Tastes slightly sour. Some alcohol remenants, which I did like – tastes more sophisticated. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly. The clams were just okay. Mid to low grade clams I would say – small pieces of meat. For nearly $ 21… you really should pass on this one. 4⁄10. 4. Warm Hazelnut Chocolate Fallen Cake $ 7.95: NOWWE’RETALKING! Amazingly good! – especially after all the subpar food. Heck, don’t be surprised if this is one of the best chocolate soufflé type desserts you’ve ever had! Not the fanciest – just the chocolate cake and a scoop of ice cream. The ice cream was standard vanilla, so I suppose it’s just there for the cake’s moral support in case it tastes like the rest of this restaurant’s food… but nope, the cake is badass. Outside has a perfect crust with a good moist but cake-y outer portion. And the inside is gooey oozey warm chocolate. And it all looks beautiful too!(check out my pics!) Damn… come to the restaurant, skip the food, and get this. 9⁄10. Nothing worth putting in your tummy here except for the dessert. But again, I did hear their spaghetti and meatballs, and their lasagna is great. Service was fine. Oh one funny thing… we sat down and about 5min later a waiter-appearing person came up and asked us if we wanted something to drink. My friends said water. I asked, «Can I get your house Chianti.» He quickly replied, «Oh no, this is only for water and soda and stuff. You can tell the waiter.» …hmm… probably funnier if you were there. My friends smiled though. Cause the dessert was super great and service was fine: 3⁄5. #Italian #pasta #linguini #cake

We went here for a late dinner last night. I just wasn’t impressed. We normally drive by the restaurant at least 2 times a week for kid lessons/activities in the area. So after our big performance last night, my friend and I decided to take the girls out for dinner. We were seated immediately and the busboy came up to us quickly and was super friendly. I overheard and saw the look on the waitress’s face when she was told that we were her table. She had a sour face as she came over. Throughout the entire meal, she really just went through the motions. No smiles. Definitely not speaking more to us if she didn’t have to. The food was ok. Girls had spaghetti and meatballs that they seemed to like. Another had the clams. We also had a soup and the salmon salad. Wasn’t the most flavorful food. Overall, I just wasn’t impressed. It lacked customer service, food was ok, and it seemed overpriced for what the restaurant really wanted to be. Normally, I’m pretty positive but it was hard for me to stay positive throughout the meal. Would I come back again? Probably not.

Great little neighborhood restaurant. My partner and I stopped by on a Saturday night. We’d seen a movie at Santana Row, and, as usual, we were looking for an un-Santana dining experience. The prices were reasonable, especially the $ 12.95 spaghetti and meatballs. Actually, that’s a surprisingly great dish! Two big balls, plenty of flavorful sauce, and a large portion. I took half home for the next day’s lunch. The service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere is relaxed. We’ll be back!

Meatballs?! So, I actually really like this place, and it’s right down the street from my house. I think the primary reason this place gets my vote is the meatballs. They’re delicious and relatively cheap in comparison to other meatballs I’ve experienced(I think I paid $ 16 in SF for three meatballs… that’s b-a-n-a-n-a-s!) I can’t really think of anything that I’ve ordered at Antonella that I haven’t liked, but then again, I stick to the basics. I still haven’t gone to all-you-can-eat Wednesday spaghetti and meatballs/salad/garlic bread, which is crazy in itself. Also, the staff is always friendly and helpful when we go there. It feels like a hometown restaurant, which is always pretty cool.
