A1Care

A1 has truly helped me in a bind when I was feeling lost and hopeless. My mom had returned from an extended vacation visiting her family in her home country. She returned sick and confused. She was diagnosed with dementia in 2009 but had been doing well enough up until she had returned. I immediately had her seen by her primary doctor and the news was grim. Her dementia had progressed and now needed 24 care. This is where A1 saved me. I took time off of work and called several agencies that were recommended. From the get go, A1 was one of the few agencies that actually called me back! They listened to my needs and within days had recommendations of two caregivers that fulfilled my needs. The caregivers came over for a quick interview and we have been using them ever since.
Now, my mom is a handful but our caregivers have managed to keep her safe and they have been so very patient and kind to her. I have been so lucky that in a bind, they have stepped in and have accommodated my work schedule which can be chaotic since I do shift work. They have been able to help me out when last minute meetings have come up with my kid’s school or when I just need an afternoon off. Our case manager is always accessible and it has been wonderful to be able to go to work and know that my mother is cared for. Thank you so much A1 for everything!

we used a1 care for my father, who was in an in-​home hospice program through sutter health.
all of our caregivers (especially pui, po and sue) were wonderfully loving and thoughtful. they’re very experienced and patient with elderly patients and i couldn’t recommend them highly enough. a1 made caring for my terminally ill father as gracefully simple as possible.

A1 Care has been a godsend for my family and me. We were referred to A1 through Kaiser in January, 2014, for my 83 year-​old father who needed some care and support after he fell in his apartment. From the beginning, Minda listened patiently and worked proactively to make sure that we would find a compatible caregiver for my father. The caregiver, Miguel, that she assigned to him speaks Spanish (my dad’s native tongue) and has become like a family member in the short time that we have known him. Luanna, another A1 care team member, was there for me on the weekend and on short notice to provide an assessment of my father’s condition. As a full-​time working mom, I very much appreciated her willingness to meet me in such a timely way. There is a sincere feeling of warmth and care that this agency and its workers exude with their clients. Miguel and A1 Care have been prompt in their callbacks, flexible with their hours, professional in their service, and reasonable with their pricing. We could not have asked for a better experience. Contacted A1 after being discharged from the hospital and needing some extra help at home. The initial consultation was fine with the case manager, however the employees they sent were unfriendly, unhelpful, and poorly trained. After refusing to do some small helpful chores, the employee refused to vacuum saying «That’s not part of my job.» I wanted to show her the brochure which clearly shows someone using a vacuum! After calling their main office to clarify this is something they should be able to handle, the employee did vacuum, but only for about 5 minutes, then stopped completely. Worse, when I called the case manager to discuss the problems I was having with the people not wanting to help, they mentioned they were not sending anyone that day (never contacted me to notify) and then insulted the quality of our home. I was looking for help, not a hassle. If you are considering using a home help agency, I would look elsewhere.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most dedicated, caring and hard working people at A1Care. The staff are friendly and will do their best to accommodate their client’s needs. I really like that you are treated like family and that means their employees, clients, doctors, nurses, and pretty much anyone they come in contact with are treated with respect. I would highly recommend A1Care if you need assistance with in-​home care or residential care facility placements for your elderly loved ones.
