3.5 stars. Overall, a pleasant experience. $ 15 gets you an hour foot massage, complete with shoulder rub and head massage(omg, I love head massages). You’re seated, they bring you drinks, and wash your feet in a big bucket of tea. It’s good stuff. $ 30 gets you an hour and a half accupressure massage. You’re now on a bed in the back of the room(sounds shady, huh? It’s not! I promise). There’s no need to take off your clothes here, it’s strictly no-skin contact while you get your back and legs worked on *sad*. They have a package deal … membership… something… which costs less in sessions. My masseuse was named Jenny — she was very good at changing the pressure based on my pain threshold: P hahha Some places I go to feel like I’m going through a torture chamber instead of a soothing massage. The down sides of this is that it’s located on a busy street, so you get traffic noise. The music is to desired and the glaring light from the TV makes it hard to fully feel relaxed. I’m a big tipper when it comes to these places. I think they’ve really earned their keep(and much of it must go towards rent, up keep, etc). It’s not their fault that the structure they’re in is not«ohm» conducing.

This will be the LAST time I visit here. They tried to hustle me for tip again. Apparently it’s a «mandatory» $ 10 tip for a $ 30 massage even though they don’t have it posted anywhere and if you do the math, a $ 10 tip is about a 33% tip!

Mirage Reflexology is one many foot massage places in the San Gabriel Valley. Continuing with the week of Brandon, we came here after eating a belly busting meal at Din Tai Fung. Brandon decided that before he left, he needed to get a foot massage. So, we drove around San Gabriel Blvd. looking for a foot massage place like we were hunting for a hooker. Mind you, it was about 10PM and a majority of the places were closed. We randomly found this place and they took us in. The guy behind the desk got on the phone and called up some«foot specialists» to come down and take care of us. We waited about 30 minutes and finally, a crew of 6 people came in to handle our group. For $ 15, they gave us a nice tea foot bath and a 45 minute foot and leg massage. My god, it was amazing! Before she even started, she asked me how painful, excuse me, how hard I wanted it — I requested strong(aka painful!). Easily the best foot massage I’ve gotten in the States. For the more delicate feet, they will tone it down. The last 15 minutes is an intense back and shoulder massage. When I came in, I had this nasty knot in my neck, but after my massage lady basically put her entire body weight on my neck, I felt better. I’ll quote my sister when she says, «the pain is what makes you feel better. I mean, if it is painful, that means it’s working right?!» Well, I’ll tell you what, it was a good painful and it did work. So, if you are a group of 6 and hunting for a good foot massage place at 10PM, this is your place! BEWARE, they only speak Chinese(Mandarin I believe)
