Amazing stuff! I always get the classic chicken curry which is amazing with rice. Their naan is always fresh, soft, and warm. I have never gone without getting the masala dosa crêpe with potatoes inside. It’s also a super market so you can try to find stuff to make at home!

Wow, I think I found my new go to place for delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced Indian food! I ordered the lunch special(11.99), which included butter chicken, spinach and paneer, dal, yogurt, naan, and jasmine rice. It all came served on a shiny stainless steel platter for that touch of authenticity. Everything tasted great, but what really stood out for me was the naan– thick, spongy, and chewy. Probably the best naan I’ve ever had! For dessert, I ordered jalebi which is the Indian version of a funnel cake and so happens to be my favorite. They also offer a variety of exotic Indian groceries and CHEAP spices(a jar of whole nutmeg is only $ 6, at regular markets this would cost at least $ 12). Another offer is their homemade chili pastes such as the very hot ghost chili purée.

Food was decent. I like their Garlic Naan. Unfortunately the price and service is not up to par with their flavors. I didn’t really understand the servers and the food was luke warm. Did I mention they try to nickel and dime for everything :(

5 stars for their masala does(price up to $ 7 but still a great deal), love the hole in the wall feel, caters well to kids with plastic cups, plates, utensils for them. Prices for other items are higher than I expected — $ 13 for chicken tikka masala, $ 15 for lamb vindaloo plus extra for rice and naan — but everything was delicious. Staff is helpful and on a Saturday night we didn’t feel rushed but do wish they would have pointed out the combos since I think you save a bit getting that. Would definitely come back for the masala dosa again, nice casual feel

Don’t come here expecting ambiance, because you won’t get any. This restaurant is literally a bunch of tables inside a cramped grocery store. What you will get is some seriously and amazing food. I don’t think that I said that right. I meant AMAZINGFOOD. If you haven’t gone, go now. That’s all I have to say.

The restaurant is good! It’s located inside a small grocery store. I had the chicken curry and chicken tikka masala. The lunch combos are pretty big. We ordered two combs to split between three people and we were all pretty stuffed! All in all, the lunch combo at $ 9.99 is worth it, but if you order the curry + rice separately, the prices are pretty steep.

This review is for the restaurant section only. I did not take the time to browse the grocery side. Oh, man. I had no idea this place was even here until I saw a fellow Unilocaler’s review on it. The sad part is that I’ve been next door tons of time to pick up food from Why Thirsty. Always thought this place was a… nope, just never thought anything was here. Talk about tunnel vision. Anyway, like I was saying, this restaurant/grocery store is located in the same plaza as Why Thirsty and Trader Joe’s. Parking can be difficult on the weekends but not impossible *cough* Costco *cough*. When you walk inside, be prepared to be impressed with the food. Nothing special about ambience. Think hole in the wall spot located in a grocery store. The space felt cramped and we heard every excruciatingly annoying exchange the girls next to us were having. With the way these girls were talking about their friends, who needs enemies. Anyway, the important part: the food is really delicious! We ordered the meals(«thali»). I got the butter chicken thali and my boyfriend got the curry chicken thali. Both were so flavorful and everything else on the tray was superb. It came with yogurt, lentils, and spinach with paneer. We upgraded our naan to garlic naan for an additional 50 cents. Everything was so good I overate and suffered from GERD for the next 2 days. Worth it(sort of but not really). Come check this place out for Indian food when you’re in the area!

We ate here recently and the total was $ 30 for two people. The rice is overpriced at $ 6! Most asian restaurants in the area charge no more than two dollars for rice. This place definitely does NOT have very competitive pricing. So… I am a fan of the food, but not the premium price. The service is not premium. The last time i ordered from here they did not include any utensils. I don’t think very highly of restaurants that«forget» to include the appropriate napkins, spoons, and forks for me to eat. We had to drive back to get it.

So I’ve been coming here for at least 4 years now and it’s time to write a review. Food: excellent ambiance: casual as f* service is amazing and talk to the chef… You’ll be surprised by who is cooking your mouth watering food! Seriously one of the best Indian restaurants outside of Artesia(little India). What to order? Everything… Hahah. My personal favorites are chicken tikka, butter chicken, samosas ALWAYS, garlic naan a must. But really you can’t go wrong here, everything is good. There is a grocery store that is part of the restaurant, or vice versa, so you can get some new spices to experiment with. Finish the night off with a mango lassi(not the dog) and you’ll be in food coma for a few days!

First 2 star review ever. People there are nice, and based on the Unilocal reviews, I decided to drive out here from South Pas to pick up dinner just now. Ordered: coconut fish curry veggie thali dhai puri bhagan bharta paneer something 2 masala dosas 2 mango lassis no offense, and I hate writing«bad» reviews bc I know they work hard and the people there were really nice, but nothing was good except for the lassis. My family of 6 all agreed. Very disappointed. Definitely can’t sniff the local spot here in South Pas. nor any place I’ve had in Cerritos/Diamond Bar area, or the bay… Oh well, I don’t feel bad bc they have 700 reviews, and 4.5 stars, which is honestly really hard to believe. I rarely see 4.5 star places, and I’ve spent 100s of hours on Unilocal in my lifetime, and any 4.5 star place has usually been at least pretty dang good, if not great. Sorry to say, I most likely won’t be coming back.

3.5 stars. Been here twice now and enjoyed each visit. It is quirky to be sitting in a half restaurant half grocery store. It adds to the charm. Service was good both times: mostly attentive and friendly. I had ordered the combo plates both times, and it’s a generous amount of food. I wasn’t ever able to finish everything. I’ve tried the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer, and both were decent. Garlic naan is always a good choice. Overall, a good place for the price(roughly $ 12/person with no drink).

Oh Bhanu, how we love thee. There’s a reading this place has almost 5 stars and almost 700 ratings — is simply the best budget Indian food around. For around $ 8 you can get a giant combo plate of vegetarian Indian curries, naan and rice. For a few bucks more, you can get the meat combo. That’s cheap my buds and it’s TASTY! It’s a way better deal than Indian buffets where you may not see dishes you like or have to deal with everyone leaving the buffet warmer open ending up in cold food. Bah! Also, there’s an Indian grocery attached to the restaurant so you can shop for some hot chilies, exotic tea or find Indian fare after eating. Such a deal! Bring your elastic waist bands, you’re about to be stuffed happy!

This is my go-to Indian restaurant in Los Angeles. Can’t find anything better than this place in LA. If this is your first time, these are the things that you must order and try! 1) Coconut Fish Curry 2) Masala Dosa 3) Chicken Tikka Masala 4) Korma Vegetable 5) Garlic Naan I highly recommend their Chai Tea and Mango Lassi if you want to order something to drink. You can really taste the authentic Chai tea flavor in their Chai Tea… not like the kind you get from Starbucks. The Mango Lassi is kind of filling because it’s like a mango yogurt drink. Don’t be alarmed when you see the dishes come out and they are little tins. It goes a long way! If you don’t like Naan, then just get rice instead so you have something to soak up all the delicious spiced sauces. One good thing is that they take reservations! It does get busy on the weekends and weekdays after 6:30pm, so if you don’t make reservations, you may have to wait. They also will try to scoot you out as quickly as possible once you get your food(hence the –1 star). You are still eating from your plate, and the servers will come up to your table to ask if you are all done yet and if there is anything else you want to get. Be prepared to be asked those two questions every 3 minutes by a different server each time.

I like to crave Indian cuisine when I get the chances, but I really enjoy the flavors and spices and the armora. My wife and I were in area and decided to go to Bhanu Indian grocery & cuisine to try it out. My wife and I remember see Bhanu Indian grocery & cuisine at the 626 Night Market at Santa Anita. We try the Samosa wow they were so good and one of representatives from the Bhanu told us it’s a restaurant and grocery store, I told my wife we need check it out. The restaurant/grocery store is nice and one of the worker told us we can sit any were then we found a good seats. The menu was on the table and we were looking at it. We decided to get the vegetables Samosa and Paneer and rice and Tandoori chicken. First meal they brought was the vegetables Samosa they so good I dips my in the mild or curry sauce and tamarind sauce were really good it have that nice sweet taste of the tamarind. The second dish was Paneer it’s spinach and cheese one favorite including my wife also. We also order garlic naan bread it was delicious adding with Paneer on the garlic Naan bread it so good. And the final meal was the Tandoori chicken it was sizzling hot we order the 8 piece chicken and the aroma smell was really good we finish chicken it was os good.

This is a great place to get your Indian food fix. Grocery + Restaurant = perfection. The supermarket is spacious and the restaurant as well. The staff is friendly and service is great! Prices are so affordable and portions are so filling! Plenty of parking which is always a plus for any restaurant. I’ll be back for more yumminess soon!

More like 3.5 stars, but the prices are not allowing me to bump it up to a solid 4. There has been so much hype about this place, and I can definitely see why. An Indian supermarket attached to a restaurant, or the other way around, the store offers a lot of goodies that you don’t normally see in the SGV. I’ve been to my Indian lunch buffets, but you really begin to taste the quality and flavors of the dishes in the non-AYCE joints such as this one. We ordered: Chicken samosa: This was really greasy. REALLY, really greasy, actually. It dripped with grease after being bit into, and it also pooled a bit on the dish it was served in… kinda nasty. Very flavorful and seasonings were spot on though. Lamb curry: This was a much smaller dish than I anticipated, especially for the $ 13 price. Meat was so-so – not crazy tender delicious, but not dry or rubbery either, and curry was very toned down and mild. I think I’d try the Vindaloo next time instead. This dish overall was very one-dimensional and bland overall. Bhanu house salad: I didn’t know they had one, but they do for $ 3.50. It comes with a very interesting yogurt dressing, and they sprinkle some seasonings on top of the lettuce-tomato-cucumber concoction that gives it a very unique flavor. Chicken tikka masala: Yummmmm… very tender and flavorful, not dry at all! I liked this dish the most out of everything we ate today. Paneer: Spinach with cheese. not too many chunks of cheese, though once again it was spot on in flavor. Also not worth the $ 7.50 or so for the small bowl. Overall, the food is great and flavors are there, but I’m not sure it was good enough to justify the hefty price tag. I could go to a pretty decent Indian buffet(my fave being the one in La Puente) for a little less than $ 15, versus the whopping $ 46 we paid here. Also, portions are on the smaller side, so it won’t be worth it if you eat even slightly above average/feeling extra hungry. I’m not sure I’ll come again, since I’m all about that buffet life(aka fat piggy), but it’s a good idea to try, just so you have something to compare the buffets to.

My favorite go to place in San Gabriel. I always order the Chicken Tikka Masala and Veggie/Chicken Samosas. If I am feeling adventurous, I order a Mango Lassi but it is usually way too much for me to handle. Each dish comes with generous amounts of food and it is hard to finish a whole meal by myself. I usually share between another person when ordering. This place is also a grocery store where you can buy everything you eat on the menu inside the store itself. Amazing! The staff is nice as well and is happy to answer any questions you have. Definitely a regular at this restaurant!

Review is for the market. After having dinner next door, we noticed an indian market/restaurant next door. It’s not too big and they actually have a restaurant on the left half of it and a market on the right half. The problem is, the store is too damn small to have both so the aisles are VERY narrow and creates an inconvenient shopping experience. Product Selection — Lots of imported goodies here from snacks, candies, frozen food, teas, and mixes. They even have some desserts that are in the refrigerated area to your right when you walk in. — Prices are a bit on the higher end which can be expected for imported goods and I’ve seen some similar items at Ralphs for .25 to .50 cents less. Service — The workers here are very friendly, engaged, and helpful. While only being in the store for maybe ten minutes at most, both times we were asked if we needed any assistance looking for anything. I may end up coming back to try the food out, but I have no plans on shopping here since it’s just uncomfortable since the aisles are so small and cluttered. They also have stuff EVERYWHERE which is just messy IMO.

This is the best service I’ve ever received at an Indian restaurant. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful — plenty of napkins, water refills, and food explanations. We tried the chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, garlic naan, chicken samosas, and the cauliflower and potato dish with peas. Everything was delicious! Although the garlic naan wasn’t as garlic-y as i prefer, it had awesome texture — chewy, crispy, and warm! The meal was very affordable, as well. Total tab was less than $ 47 before tip. Indian food this good is usually way more expensive. Will definitely be back for all my Indian cravings. Two thumbs up!
