Armando’s is closed and I’m assuming it’s for Health Code Violations but I’m not exactly sure. This location was voted Top 8 Restaurants in L.A. County with the most Health Code Violations by the Dept. Of Public Health just a couple of weeks ago. They have another location in Monterey Park but I’m not sure if I would eat there again. That sucks because I really use to like their food but now I’m questioning it.

I absolutely love this little hole-in-the-wall mexican restaurant. Me and my family love coming here because we always receive great food and above par service. The waiters and waitresses are always very enthusiastic. The food is very tasty and on the weekends they sale posole and hand made corn tortillas. Their happy hour offers good deals. YOUMUSTTRYTHEIRCUCUMBERMARGARITA. it is amazing and you get a lot of alcohol for $ 6. For a free appetizer they give you tostada chips with a side of salsa and beans. Their carne asada plate is really good. The meat is not fatty and very juicy. There is a weird parking lot in the back but it works!

Wow… what a letdown! Best part of the meal was the micheladas and even they were good but not great. The chips and salsa were good as well but we weren’t given a refill. They brought out menudo for my friend but she had ordered posole. It took a good 5 minutes before they brought out her posole. They didn’t bring out any limes, cabbage, or tostadas. She had to ask for the fixings and wait another five minutes. The posole was bland and the meat fatty. I ordered a wet steak burrito. The red sauce tasted canned. The meat was burned and full of gristle. The service was slow and forgetful. The food was run of the mill. Definitely not worth returning.

First time dining here… Everything we ordered was outstanding! First off the tostadas, salsa and bean dip with cotija cheese was phenomenal! Here’s a lineup of what we ordered tonight; Fish tacos(baja style) which were cooked to perfection. Chile relleno which was fantastic, fried but not greasy, extremely flavorful! Last but not least, Pozole which was totally scrumdelicioso! I had the opportunity to sample a little of everything from the family this evening. All of these entrees coupled with an ice cold Tecate equated to total satisfaction! To conclude our delicious meal tonight, we had fresh Churros with café con canela… An absolute perfect combination to compliment our wonderful dinner! We’ll definitely be back to try their breakfast menu items on the weekend… «Homemade Tortillas!!!»

First time to this location, it’s a busy place but they make you feel comfortable and paid attention to. We ordered sopes, tacos, chili rellanos and shrimp enchiladas. The sopes were delish with super tender carnitas, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, queso fresca and guacamole. Good size too! The chili rellanos were so good that my man ordered a second one a la cart. The taco was ok, not my favorite thing of the night but still not bad. The food was beautiful and we felt like they not only put a lot of love into their preperation but also the presentation. The wait staff is super nice, and they don’t make you feel like you have to wait for«your waiter». Definately happier here then the other location where we used to frequent.

Since my husband knows El Sr. Armando the owner, almost 36, the food is to good and know that Jonathan is here is like family, love this place. From the Mexican music and then the salsa and fried beans with tostadas, like a welcome to Armandos or Super Mex. There happy Hr. Is Mon-Mon from 4 – 7. And why stop there, weekends menudo and Pozole, with a BEER, good for the hang-over. They have pan dulce and flans for dessert.

Came here for happy hour with my boyfriend and had a great time. To start off we had the«Armando’s nachos» with Asada which were delicious and some Asada soft tacos. Everything was very good. I ordered a cucumber margarita, it wasn’t too strong. I thought it was refreshing & easy to drink. I’d definitely come back here !

5 stars for outstanding customer service. 5 stars for delicious, authentic Mexican food. Customer service is awesome. Everyone is friendly, honest, energetic — especially the guy! He is so welcoming and fun to be around. He really made our experience great. Food is very good! According to the boyfriend: very authentic. It doesn’t feel very heavy or oily, which is a super plus! We ordered: — Wet burrito and enchiladas. The sauce was great. Portions were filling. Chicken was our choice of meat but would probably go for beef next time. — Churros: very tasty and just the right amount of sweet! — Strawberry margarita: delicious but will try lime next time. Oh, and the glass is a very generous size ^_* We will definitely be coming back!

Came in and the waiter was happy to see us… its like being welcome into the family kind of feel. Love it. After being seated, the waiter came out with some freshly made nachos with salsa and bean dip. It tastes amazing especially the bean dip! We ended coming here for some relaxing time and watch the game. Order oysters and shrimp ceviche. Very home setting and not crowded… one of its best feature. Boo…only one free beer per review per table.

Always wanted to try this place and I finally made it, on Superbowl day! Thought it would be crowded but thank goodness it wasn’t. Park in the rear or on the streets. We were greeted once we walked in, able to sit where ever we want. Great service. Also, they have happy hour special everyday from 4−7pm. The place is well decorated with a Mexican style feeling. The Michelada is huge(we were recommended with Corona) which was delicious. Coronaritas was good too, not too sweet just the way I like it. Recommend their shrimp cocktail. Very refreshing and enough for 4 people to share. Enjoyed their oysters as well. Good for groups and gathering after work.

I’ve been coming to this place for years to get my Mexican food cravings(which is a rare craving for me). I Hadn’t been here in a while, and my dad wanted a delicious shrimp cocktail… and so Armando’s it was. You can’t find too many Mexican restaurants here in Alhambra. So if you are in the mood for genuine Mexican food this is your place to be. Their staff is super nice and very attentive to your needs as a very hungry customer! Right off the bat, they serve you tostada chips with this delicious bean dip and salsa. Perfect To snack on while waiting for your food. The waiter Johnathan is awesome! He made sure EVERYTHING was excellent! I ordered the Armando’s Mex Burrito… let me tell you, this is no ORDINARY wet burrito! This burrito is about 12″ long and is about 2“thick! It comes with rice, beans, pico de gallo(I didn’t want any in my burrito) and your choice of meat or seafood(for an extra $ 1). With guacamole, sour cream and cabbage on top along with their delicious house sauce. This burrito defeated me! Had to take the rest home. My dad’s cocktail was exactly whAt he wanted… they are not shy with the shrimp(for all you shrimp lovers). My sister ordered the chicken molé, the molé sauce was on point and the chicken was moist! If you have kiddos… Don’t fret… they have a kids meal. Overall…a relaxful environment full of good food and good times! Come hungry… because you will be sure to leave full and satisfied!

Michiladas are really good and big. The wet burrito is amazing and the size of the big one is incredible. Over all the service and energy of the staff is very friendly and helpful. They explain every dish down to the toppings and condiments. Great place definitely coming back.

This place has been around forever, but I only started coming here when a friend started taking me after our group Sunday hikes. Décor is old-fashion, down to earth. My friend did note they recently re-did the seating. I love that as a starter you get complimentary large tostada chips with salsa AND beans. You’ll get full before your food arrives! I’ve only had the breakfast items here. Normally I get the chorizo con huevos plate with rice and beans which is solid. Same goes with the chilaquiles plate. I LOVE the homemade tortillas. So warm, soft and comforting. Everything reminds me of home cooked meals you’d get in a Mexican family.

Margaritas?! Happy hour? I’m in. 6 tacos, 1 fiesta plate, 1 sope, 2 margaritas for $ 31. We were given an option to sit anywhere we wanted when we arrived around 5:30pm. The booth tables were small for any more than 2 people! Not enough moving room. Happy hour from 4−7pm, taco specials Mondays & Tuesdays! VERY friendly service from the two front employees. Complimentary chips and salsa/beans when seated. We had a hard time deciding what we wanted because all the food looked so delicious. Fiesta Plate(HH price $ 8.95): The fiesta plate included 4 half taquitos, nachos, 2 quesadillas, 2 chicken wings and guac/sour cream. Nothing on the plate was W-O-W. Overload of cheese in the quesadilla and over the nachos. Tacos($ 1 each): The al pastor taco was juicy, flavorful and darn right good! Would definitely come back for it! The fish taco however, was the complete opposite. We had 2 orders of fish taco on our table — one piece was half the size of the other. Inconsistent! Strawberry Margarita($ 4.50): We had one table eye our margarita curious to see what it was because it was so blood red! Haha. Huge cup for the price! You could definitely taste the tequila in it — they didn’t skimp. Cucumber Margarita($ 6): I HATE cucumbers but to my surprise i really enjoyed this! The cucumber taste wasn’t overpowering at all, in fact you could hardly taste it. The margarita wasn’t in slushy form which was easier to drink and VERY refreshing. Would definitely come back just for this !!! Parking lot right on the left of Armando’s that will fit about 8 cars only. Enter through the back(you’ll see outdoor seating), take the door on the right and then a left into the restaurant.

I’ve been on the hunt for good Mexican sit down and yet to have find it here in the SGV. Let me say that the food at Armando’s is actually fairly good across the board. No one in our party will disagree with this statement. What let me down is the service. There was a very long wait for our food and a few mistakes in our order. What was nice was that they gave us partial credit on one of the meals for making us wait so long for the correct meal. What turned me off the most was the ambience. It’s a little ghetto — hate to say it! The waiting area was very dark and dirty and the patio was teaming with flies. I am definitely NOT looking for dark mahogany tables and snow white pin cushion seats with a sparkling water feature in the background. I am all about mom and pop places but if you’re dirty, you’re dirty. If you can’t upkeep your tables and chairs, it makes me wonder how clean and well maintained your kitchen is.

I really really want to give this place 5 stars. Twice I’ve ordered take out, and twice I’ve waited TOO long for my food. The first time I came, the place was PACKED and I made the mistake of not ordering over the phone prior to getting there. I waited for about 30 minutes to get my food(which I found out was wrong when I got home =[ but no big deal since it was delicious). Second time, I ordered the parrillada for 2 over the phone and they said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I get there in 15 minutes and again the place is jam packed. The servers keep telling me «Almost Ready» for like 20 minutes. Overall, I waited about an additional 35 minutes for the parrillada I ordered over the phone 15 minutes prior to my arrival. Anyway, the food here is REALLYGOOD and worth the price, but not sure about the wait. The servers are really nice and kind, they treat you like family. However, I just can’t get over how long it takes for the food to be ready on my take out orders. I guess good food takes time eh? I’ll still be coming back haha but I’ll make sure to be late whenever I call in for take out I guess…

Visited this location on 1÷9÷2014 at 6pm. It was a full house with 2 hardworking servers running around– literally. These poor souls are LITERALLY running around trying to satisfy everyone. Seated in 15 mins with dirty tables and chairs. It took us 15 minutes to order, 45 mins to get our appetizers and another 30 minutes to get our 2 entrees of the Armando’s mex burritos and an Asada plate. Our Appetizers: Chicken Wings — 6 of them and they were the smallest wings I’ve seen in my life. Fries: Nothing special. Similar to fries served in grade school. Entrees: The meat from the Asada plate was overly chewy with a small portion of meat when compared to everything else. The Burrito lacked meat and was filled with vegetables. Both entrees were MEEEEH. Definitely not worth our almost 2 hour visit. I would rate this place a lot lower if it wasn’t for the very caring and enthusiastic workers. The women was very kind and the guy was seriously a ball of energy. How can you stay so happy with a thousand people screaming their orders are you? I tip my hat to you. I would return to this location but ONLY if it wasn’t crowded.

Came in for a to-go order and was met with THE friendliest service EVAR! The specials that weren’t on the menu(menudo and posole) were pointed out to me and I was offered a seat even though I wasn’t dining in. John was super nice and charismatic, I noticed that he had the same demeanor with everyone he interacted with, love it. Super love the complimentary giant tostadas, hot salsa andddddd the FRIJOLES. The beandip here is the mothership of what all beandips should be, YUMMO! I ordered Armando’s Mex Shrimp Burrito, which could feed a small country.(okay not really, but it is pretty big, I would recommend sharing unless you can eat a fatass 12″ burrito!!!) It was filled with plump shrimp, rice, and beans… and drizzled with red sauce(you could also get green), guacamole and sour cream. mMm! All wet burritos also come with a free drink… orange bangggg for the win!

As I walked in the door, I got the sense that this hole in the wall would be awesome. From the dining room, you can see the homestyle kitchen where a handful of ladies work their magic. The food tasted homemade and very good. Armando’s offers various burritos for people who are on the go. If you can spare the time to sit down and eat, I would highly recommend their seafood. I usually get the fish filet. It is a pan fried filet of white fish topped with a garlic sauce, served with rice, beans and veggies. Chips and salsa make this a wonderful meal.
