The torta de pierna is the best freaking torta! Every friend I have taken here ends up coming back. I introduced my husband to this place and every time we are in the valley he wants to come to Don Carlitos. Their tostilocos are delicious too mmm. The only reason for the 4 stars is for the customer service. I’ve been coming here for years and the ladies always have a bad attitude. I’ve never seen them crack a smile. But I’m hooked on these tortas, so everytime I’m in the SFV this place is a must stop!

Ordered the«Torta de lomo». The customer service was fantastic. As for the sandwich, the panini style bread with the avocado overload, made my mouth water. Unfortunately, the meat slices were dry and bland which left me feeling like my jaw received a workout. I will try this Torta again but with a juicer, more flavorful meat.

I went for the filled«churros» and«fresas con creama» and both were disapointing. Churros are pre-frozen and the filling is not real«cajeta». As for the«fresas con crema», cream is plain and no add-ons were included such as raisins or granola. Tortas looked good from far away but still need to try– if I ever go back.

The bolillo bread gets the panini press or «plancha» treatment here and I must say it elevates it to a whole new level texturally and you get that satisfying crunch. The well seasoned and minced asada beef is complemented by a spread of Mayo, light avocado chunks, light mustard, tomato slices and a handful of shredded(fresh) lettuce. This may be the best torta this side of the valley as all the ingredients meld beautifully. For those wishing to spice things up the salsa bar has a flavorful mild green and mild smoky red chile. There is also vinegar pickled carrots, and rajas de jalapeño and onion(cut lengthwise). Carrots are slightly soft for my liking as I look forward to a good crunch. Overall this is very filling especially when you factor in the small side of tortilla chips and a drink. I opted for half liter Mexican coca cola bottle –the one without the HFCS. There is a buy ten tortas get the 11 Th. one free stamp card promotion that I was happy to get.

The place to get a torta in the valley. I get the Asada torta and it tastes great. The ladies put a perfect amount of mayo and a good portion of meat. The best part is the way they toast the bread to perfection. If your not that hungry, I recommend sharing the torta so you can try a smoothie. I never get to try anything else because I eat the whole torta and am too full to order anything else. I also recommend their aguas(homemade).

This used to be such a great place but now they changed the staff and they no longer service the same!!! Food is nasty! So sloppy. and the staff is beyond rude! No more mamey, they don’t even know what mamey is. The raspados are not poorly made. Such a disappointment!

I asked for cheese in my torta and they charged me two dollars just to add cheese! I think it’s way too much, the torta costs 6.50 plus 2.00 for cheese!

I was very excited because I’ve heard of the Diablo raspado and I wanted to try it out. The actual raspado was really good, full of fruit and so much flavor, it was just disappointing that they didn’t have those tamarindo straws(I think that’s what they’re called).

I love coming here on nice sunny days and having a torta de pierna and my favorite tosti locos. The orchata is also really good. They accept debit cards but charge you for the transaction wich i think is 50¢. The staff is friendly and your order is usually done fast. They have no restrooms so unload before you arrive. Prices are affordable and the food is delicious.

This place needs more love. It has the best tortas I have ever tasted in my life! I usually get the carne asada one, but every single time I have had one here, my mouth just waters up screaming for more. It’s located on the San Fernando mall across from JC Penny. Parking is very easy to find since there’s a ton of free parking everywhere. I love this place and I usually go monthly!

avoid,.!! do not go to this place. the service is horrible. the food is horrible. the fat lady behind the counter has no shame. i requested my refund after waiting 30 minutes for my food. at first she said she couldnt because she wasnt the owner. then i reminded her we are in this great country called the usa and if the customer requests his money back their should be no problem. she threw the money on the counter and started mumbling things as she walked away. they are not equipped to be running a business. only two workers one in the kitchen and one in the front. not to mention how slow the one in the front is. avoid avoid avoid

Don Carlitos is a great little restaurant found among all the discotheques, bridal, and pawn shops that make up the San Fernando Mall. They offer great tortas(my favorites being the chorizo and the supertorta), aguas frescas(sandia’s the best!), raspados, and my favorite snack of all time, bionicos(fresh fruit with cream, honey, nuts, granola, and raisins). This is a great place to go for a quick lunch, smoothie, or for other snacks which remind me of the great food I had in Guadalajara. Don Carlitos is now one of my regular stops and I’m very fortunate that this place is in San Fernando.
