Whilst taking a walk around Balboa Park we discovered this little garden. It was pretty and my daughter loved going round and round it a number of times.

Maybe it’s the drought, but this nudism was a total letdown when I visited 9÷21÷14. It was so barren, I actually thought«Wait, am I in the right spot??» But then, yes, I founds signage. Saw several butterflies. Saw everything there was to see in about four minutes.

This place reminds me of Pan’s Labyrinth. You’ve seen that movie right? Well if not SPOILERALERT — you know where Ofelia finds Pan? This area looks just like it. I wanted to die on the edge of it in a blaze of glory. If anyone finds a goat-man, please call me ASAP.

Was passing by this garden with the intent to leave balboa park but was enticed to stick around for a bit more by a jovial group of butterflies fluttering about with their beautiful selves! Spent 20 minutes just watching them dance from flower to flower and chasing each other against the backdrop of a blue sky. One of them flew so close to the top of my head I felt it brush up against my hair! Lol I’ll admit I did stick my arm out hoping one would land on me(it’s happened before in my backyard) but they more or less just flew in circles around me hahahah still really fun! In my culture butterflies are a blessing! Sent as a hello from loved ones watching from above. Don’t think I’ve received quite so many hellos in such an open space before. Definitely a cute little place to uplift your spirits. And if you’re into horticulture there’s this awesomely gigantic fig tree with massive roots that extend down the slope of the garden. Besides the architecture of balboa park, I think this tree mark one of the most artistic photo spots in the park. You can do a lot playing with different angles when photographing that tree. Anyway, I was reading some of the other reviews about how the Zoro Garden was site to olden day Balboa Park’s must see tourist attraction — the nudist colony! And yes it was literally a tourist attraction. ppl would come and watch naked ppl live it wasnt a closed or private society that you would think it would be. Coincidentally i went to MOPA today and they were selling a postcard of a picture of the nudist colony with girls fawned over the garden like little nymphs lol! Must’ve been quite the sight.

As if there were no hidden magical places in Balboa Park, some people do not notice the best of the best: the Zoro Garden, the long-time-ago nudist area in the park and today a garden of happy colorful butterflies, kissing lovers and beautiful exotic plants. And that wall with the painted butterflies is the perfect landscape for your graffiti style photos. I have done picnics just by myself and a book and sometimes observing the butterflies around. Do not miss the opportunity of kiss your love ones there. 100 years of good luck!

While doing some cardio yesterday after work, I was surprised to see this tiny little gem hidden away near the Natural History Museum. Apparently, the Zoro Garden is a butterfly garden — too bad the butterflies are in hibernation at the moment. Still, it’s a nice place to check out the flowers and bring your significant others for some cuddling and such(as the couple that was there was already doing — hence the reason why I didn’t take too many pics here). And yes, this was the nudist colony at Balboa Park at one point! But as the Zoro Garden is really small, it must’ve been a tiny colony.

I love this garden! Its like a little sunken garden gem in the heart of Balboa Park. Looking for the secret garden with the hidden recesses where you can kiss your date all romantic-like? I would take them here if I were you. A little history… This garden is named after the winner of a beauty pageant during the Panama-California exhibition, for which Balboa Park was built. Her name was Zorina, I think. After that, this part of the park became a clothing optional area of the park. Yes, it was the nudist area. Yes, Balboa Park actually had one for some reason. They also let people cook food down there for some reason… and as you can imagine, its probably not all that fun to be grilling burgers while naked. Now it’s a «butterfly garden». Its planted with pretty flowers and has winding paths. You can walk down and follow trails through the rest of the park if that tickles your fancy.

Now the Butterfly Garden near The Prado, a must see. If you want to enjoy native plants and the butterflies that love them, this is the place to be.
